  1. I don't need figures. I see it when I watch the games on TSN with the tens of thousands of empty seats. Why come to the games & pay high ticket, concessions & parking prices to go to a game when fans can watch on television?
  2. Attendance has dropped dramatically since all games are televised.
  3. The climate in Edmonton is just about the same as it is in Winnipeg. Maybe Winnipeg's a bit colder in winter but does five degrees celsius make a difference when it's minus 20??? I can tell you that the winter doesn't start or end much differently in both cities. There are no mountains near Edmonton like Calgary has or lakes nearby like Winnipeg. I also remember my parents back in the 80's going to visit my sister & her family in Edmonton. Usually they'd drive up in late May or early June. My Dad would come back always complaining about the rainy, cold weather in Edmonton compared to Winnipeg. He hated Edmonton.
  4. just watching the XFL for the first time.... san Antonio @ Arlington. Nice stadium but only 10,000 in attendance. The football is awful because the qbs are brutal.
  5. I find it hard to believe that any Canadian network with ratings of 250-500,000 cable viewers & the advertising revenues it brings in for 20 some weeks would not want the CFL on their network.
  6. One of the problems as I see it is we keep drafting Americans, Euros & players from down east in Quebec. How many Western Hockey League players have we drafted? Guys that at least were born in Western Canada, know & understand this part of the country? Unless you're a grinding third line centre from Wisconsin or Minnesota you don't want to play in Winnipeg. Look at Johnny Gaudreau & Tkachuk in Calgary they didn't want to play there either. Calgary where the economy is finally coming back, the Rockies & the winter climate is better than a lot of US cities. When they became UFA's away they went. So, it's not just Winnipeg. What's making Edmonton a place for more free agents than Winnipeg? McDavid & Draisaital. It's not the climate or city.
  7. Due to the TSN monopoly. The CFL put itself in that situation.
  8. Like we said Scheifle is a goal scorer. Lowry is not.
  9. The Jets organization is so ****** up thanks to our owner & GM it's just sad. I used to be a real fan. Admit I don't know as much about hockey as football but I'd get excited the season was on. Now, I just don't give a damn as nothing ever changes. Nothing. We do the same thing every year that fails. And the GM who does & should have hit the road two years ago gets rewarded with a new contract.
  10. True but who is the real goal scorer here, it's not Lowry. Earlier this season, he had a drought as well. Players go through that. You can't keep a 40 goal scorer on the bench or off the first PP unit.
  11. The guy has 38 goals. Lowry has 11 goals, that's why.
  12. I never sensed they loved Mourtada. He had a strong leg & that was about it. Kept around as insurance only. He was pretty much MOTR as a kicker. Liegghio is an excellent punter. that's where I eventually see him as a CFL player long term. Unless Liegghio can get a lot tougher mentally & just put the misses behind him. Which seems to be the root of his problem. It's not the physical aspect of his game.
  13. But... there is... a combine.
  14. He's a good player. I think he would start here. He's young. Just 24.
  15. I see we have a few mental health advocates who constantly tell us not to mock pro athletes as it's cruel doing the mocking here. Nice. Well done, fellas. Maybe you should look in a mirror before lecturing others. Let's face it, KSB would be a starter on every team in the CFL. I'm sure as he gets more experience his all around game will improve. He's only 24. Agreed. Demski is a versatile player who can also be a running back or slot. As well as return punts & kicks. KSB is a pure receiver.
  16. There are wingnuts everywhere.
  17. Two national security agencies confirmed this story according to Global. That this meeting was held in secrecy. It also says that the PMO only became aware of the conversation a couple of days ago. Dong admitted to having a conversation with Chinese Consul General Han. Didn't admit it was about the two Michaels. Dong should be in jail awaiting trial.
  18. That is the worst answer ever. You hate Fajardo & mock him because he was a Rider. That's it. If Evans had played for Saskatchewan then he'd be on your Hit List & not Fajardo.
  19. Bottom line, is the league thriving the way it is now? The CFL isn't even streaming the Combine. So yeah, let's just keep doing what isn't working.
  20. Libertarians say, feel free to jump out of an airplane with a parachute. That's your choice & libertarians will support your right to do that. Or climb that mountain peak in Japer National Park. But if your chute gets tangled on the way down & you break your back on impact or you trip & fall 500 feet down the mountain breaking both legs then you should pay for the cost of your rescue, healthcare, physio & recovery. It's not our problem, Libertarians will say. It's yours because you decided to do it. I never understood or liked Libertarian Conservativism.
  21. A sitting Liberal MP telling the Chinese to keep two Canadians in jail in China so it doesn't help the Conservatives politically is a valid comparison??? WTH? Both parties have evil & corrupt people working for them. That was my point.
  22. Funny how no one here is talking about the Global TV story that (now former) Liberal MP Han Dong supposedly telling a senior official at the Chinese Consulate in Toronto not to release the two Michaels in 2021 as he felt their release would help the Conservatives. Yeah, those damned Conservatives are always scumbags but the Liberals never are. MP Han Dong leaving Liberal caucus, denies allegations of working against release of 2 Michaels (msn.com)
  23. The so called hardcore loyal "Canadian" fans here are steadfast that they don't want ot change anything. Just leave everything alone. They're saying if the rules are changed with the ratio or the league goes to 4 down they won't watch. Well so be it. Don't watch. No one is forcing you to do any of that. But my gosh. is there a sudden surge of growth the way things are now? Is attendance growing? Are league revenues up? Viewership isn't growing. The next TV deal may not be as good as the last one & then what??? With game day attendance down that means our little gate driven league will be in trouble. How dumb is it to admit that things aren't working yet refuse to try to find solutions? The league will suck itself dry in a decade anyway the way things are going if changes aren't made.
  24. So, that topic about Evans is suddenly taboo even if his behaviour affects his level of play? Yet, we can mock players from other teams & make fun of them here just because we hate them? Dislike them? Despise them? Not respect them?? Players have families just like we do & their feelings get hurt yet it's okay to call them names or worse. How many here have mocked Cody Fajardo? Seems to me he's a bit fragile emotionally which is a mental health issue & that's just made the mockery worse. No one I know here has cared about his mental health. When Fajardo complained about a player publicly, he was considered selfish, a jerk & a bad teammate here by posters. No one showed any concern for his mental safety as he was showing his emotions. When Fajardo said that the criticism of his play hurt his feelings what was the reaction here? Cries of derision & laughter by the same people who say that criticizing Evans was a terrible thing. For some, criticizing Fajardo has gone deeper than that. It borders on actual hatred. Why?? Sadly, he is guilty of one thing only. He played for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. Nothing more. To me, the lectures are all so hypocritical & two faced.
