With all of the rule changes especially for residency qualifying & the addition of extra teams, two pools now, less games played per team. I believe a lot of fans have given up on the game. The format is very confusing & the Brier seems to have lost its lustre. It's all about qualifying for the OLympic Trials now. Not winning your country's curling championship for the curlers. The best curlers are in Alberta now. The best team is from Newfoundland playing under the banner of Canada. Remember when the Brier was played in big venues like Saskatchewan Place, The Saddledome, Canada Life Centre or Rogers Colliseum? Every year when it was played out West on the Prairies, they'd always talk about setting new attendance records. Now, the venues are 7 or 8,000 seats. Lots of unsold seats during the draws during the week. Next year the Brier is in Moose Jaw. No attendance records will be set.

When was the last time Manitoba won the Brier? Is it 20 years now?

No kidding. My second date with my future wife was in July of 1985 at Polo Park which will be thirty freaking nine years ago this summer. We went out last night as our 37th wedding anniversary is coming up in two weeks or so & we'll be out of town when it is. We went to a restaurant called The Cattle Baron in SE Calgary. It's pricey but I highly recommend it if you're ever in Calgary for a visit.

Once the Bombers knew they could sign Streveler, The Bombers would never have even tried to re-sign Brown. They traded him two weeks before the FA deadline. To me, That means they knew they had both little chance of signing Brown & not really caring as they had other plans. Streveler was the biggest free agent pick up of the off season for the Bombers. Bigger than had they somehow re-signed Brown. Not counting Oliveira & Schoen. Anyway, that's my take on it. I'm sounding a bit too negative on Brown. I'd like to see him succeed. I knew he was gone anyway after last season & I was hoping beyond hope he signed with any other team other than Ottawa. I don't think much of Bob Dyce or Sean Burke fan as he isn't a very good head coach & that organization Burke runs is one big tire fire.

Well, you can talk about a certain poster bemoaning the roster all you like but the reality is Osh wouldn't have released or traded Zach away & keptvBrown. So, wishing for something like that is like trying to find pixie dust as it would have never happened. The Bombers had no intention of bringing Dru back. Walters & Osh set their sites on signing Streveler. Even though Brown went to FA, got a raise & a chance to start in Ottawa, the Bombers actually dropped him.

Have to cut it down. Minimize the hits.

Dave Ritchie was a real character. One the players & fans could really relate to. Rest in Peace, Dave. You'll be missed.

The CBC really cut their sports department. They had some top notch talent that were let go. I'm sure from a lack of funding from the Mulroney & Harper governments. I think even Chretien cut funding as well. Dunigan was a warrior in 1991 vs the Stamps when he played with a separated shoulder that was frozen.

Good for Don Wittman for calling out Winnipeg Enterprises in this debacle with the field & the failure to properly remove the snow. WEC was a total waste of taxpayers money & being on the Committee was a real perk for City Councillors. Free tickets for any of those politicians with seats in a private box for any event that went on at the Stadium or Arena.

Vegas for me & Goalie Marc Andre Fleury. That smirky little bastard. Got hot at the right time in the 2018 Western Conference Final against us. I don't think he's played at that level since & has bounced around like a basketball.

When I say rookie, I'm saying it in the sense that Brown's still green & inexperienced. Brown's now expected to walk in at TC & be The Guy. he'll suddenly have the entire weight of the team on his shoulders. which he didn't have in Winnipeg. he'll be expected to perform from Day 1 despite learning a brand new offense. Trouble is, he won't be in as good of an offensive system as he was in Winnipeg. His line blocking won't be as good. The run game won't be as strong although they have a back who finished with barely a thousand yards. Receiving corps isn't as good as ours despite having Rhymes from BC. He'll need to put his Big Boy pants on. We saw what happened to others in his place. Ottawa is where quarterbacks go to die. With Schoen & Lawler, Zach developed a tendency to Go Big on a lot of passing plays. As you say, if he gets back to getting rid of the ball quickly but still stretching the defense downfield with a few deep shots then he should be fine.

As a fan I can be pissed off about anything. You reacted negatively to my comments so that means you didn't like them. It's just the same old typical **** from fans who have become spoiled & are never satisfied. One guy plays well in a few games as a rookie. Then he becomes the Next One that fans love. Just get rid of the old vet standing in his way because he's starting to suck. Meanwhile the old vet threw for something like 4300 yards on a team that went 14-4 in 2023 & 40-10 since the CFL resumed play in 2021. It's ridiculous. I can understand that with his injury history but we'll see how he fares this season with the changes on the line. Hopefully, he does fine.
