weve had win streaks and flashes of turning the corner only to plummet back to sub mediocrity before under walters/oshea. The cart is a bit before the horse but not a lot. Imop, the talent walters has brought in has earned him another year or more easily. The team isnt as good as its win streak, but it clearly is much better then the early season struggles. Id be fine with him getting just about any term of extension. Last years draft top to bottom will probably be the best in team history by a huge margin. We found lots of good young guys from free agency too. Fogg, frederick, justin cole, bond, foketi, hardrick, etc.
Mos is close, but I think we need to make the play offs for that to be fully earned. He still makes some funny decisions, doesnt put the best talent on the field, and is stuck on some really passive systems, and the team hasnt come close to playing 4 quarters of football. The win streak has certainly restored a good bit of the luster he had when he came here, and his teams have finally become arguably the best in the league. (best imop)
hes the best HC we've had in IDK how long. Isnt afraid to have other former HCs on his staff and has his specialty in his gear. Its a good situation to be in, and certainly nothing is wrong with opening preliminary talks now. I am a little surprised we would do that tbh mid season. We seemed like the type of organization that would wait but nothing wrong with it.

I honestly don't understand how you couldn't see anything from O'Shea. He's not so quietly become one of the best head coaches in the CFL and that's no stretch.
He has his moments, but what coach doesn't? He's worlds different as a coach than he was two or three years ago. His players love playing for him. His team is among the most disciplined in the CFL. He uses challenges more effectively than almost any coach in the CFL. His understanding of how to play in specific situations has improved leaps and bounds. His roster management, which was my biggest knock on him in years past, has undergone a complete 180.
Dickenson is probably coach of the year but there's 0 chance O'Shea isn't a finalist.
hes certainly earned an extension but he is far from one of the best HCs in the league. He continues to put in inferior line ups with better players off the field, makes questionable decisions and hasnt had the team play more then a half to 3/4 of the game. The passive offensive system is clearly what he wants run. All players on teams with win streaks are in the love boat. Challenges call comes from the spotters in the booth, cant give him more then half the credit for that. Weve still missed some clear challenges this year too. Hes a bright young coach and if he can continue to slowly improve he may find him self in the top tier. But he is well out side of that now. The win streak is still predicated on turn overs and play makers. And we havent even had the best play makers on the field. Denmark, frederick, heath, the first half of the seasons OL, etc.

It's funny because I thought he wasn't running that good, not hitting the holes hard enough with too much shifty feet. Cranked the rust off turned it on and did his job big time.
Hes run very well every chance hes gotten. tc pre season and today. In the cfl you dont often create holes to run through, aside from some counter trap type stuff. And a rb chopping / keeping his feet moving is a great thing. He was great the whole game Dont think he wasted one touch.

That 2nd half offence better show up next week against Calgary.

1st Flanders - how can't it be
2nd Medlock
3rd The D in the second half
HH Loffler - he brings the fire
Honorable mention Mike O'shea... why? 1. For putting in Davis and 2 for going for it on 3rd down to get Flanders 100 yards
flanders cleared 100 yards rushing before that series.

Last time we scored over 40 points was the first week of 2014. Some thing like 47 games. extend our win streak to 7. The whole team should get 1 star.
First star Weston dressler. Made a ton of big catches, Played physical and clutch ball. 8-93 1 rush for 5 yards.
Second star Justin medlock. Come to expect him to kick 6 and nail every one.
Third Star Tim flanders. 19-102 rushing 4-34 catching. Can you say 2 back system?
HH Mcduffie finally getting us the return TD with out a penalty and it was seriously clutch. 4-23 catching, 3-169 and a td on kick offs. 56.3 yard average.
honorable mention to The command center for reversing the call in the first on their own. (iirc frostys idea)

Not hard to understand why JFG's production is way down- he doesn't see the field very much. I don't know if he insulted the coaches' dog or what.
Hes seen the field. With all our banged up imp wrs hes been on the only impact aside from that one catch ive seen was some blocks. Mos seems to love him.
45 minutes ago, Noeller said:WR to DB and that was a full time change....Howell, too...
yep. Both looked pretty solid back there too.
13 minutes ago, Jpan85 said:Technically you have three guys who could come in if Louchard went down. JFG Richards and Normand. It would take a lot for a defensive guy to come in to offence.
Richards is waaay too injury prone to put at rb. Id love to see normand get touches I think he can develop into some thing good. But then hes our only blocking fb. hes important on teams, goal line offense etc.
23 minutes ago, rebusrankin said:Its simple, if Harris can't go, they rotate between Lochard and JFG as the 7th NI.
While that may not be ideal, its a far cry from Drover in the secondary or Neil McKinley as a starting linebacker.
We are allready thin at WR, and which NI do you take off for jfg? Just makes it easier for the D to key in on dressler and the other imp. Again you need an ni back up to an ni starter even if you rotate with other positions. Because if that rotation guy goes down you dont have the depth at the other position now and have to bench a more productive imp. Its a case of risking one of mcduffie, denmark, dressler, or sheppard on a guy like lochard or jfg.

You want to play JFG at rb?
You have to have a NI back up for an NI starter. So if our back up lochard started, we would need another NI back up. Weve seen geoff drover go from wr to de, oline to d line in guys like matt sheridan and chris walby, Lbers go to rb/fb win wade miller and mike sellers. On top of seeing qbs kick and punt, line men play both ways, wrs play both ways etc.
Jfg has been nearly invisible on offense. 5 less catches then games played. But hes a strong teams guy with the right build who runs hard with the ball. If any one has to switch to be a back up NI rb its him. Hes a former return man, and has the physical tool set.

Yeah it was announced a while ago. Gets the same reaction now as it did then... <insert fart noise>.
BJ should have hung up the gloves a long time ago.
should have left em hung up yeah. His last go around was brutal.
8 hours ago, Brandon said:I wasn't a big fan of MMA when BJ was young and winning. I never understood the deep love and the admiration for the guy as if he was the Fedor of the lightweight/welterweight division.
If they want to bring back BJ Penn , they should be feeding him guys he can easily beat. It's like the Dan Henderson treatment where the guy is clearly washed up and way over the hill... yet they continue to feed him top 10 guys because once in a blue moon he scores a lucky KO.
I never really got it either. He had some impressive flashes and entertaining fights but i was never a fan of his. Agree you cant expect him to contend at his age. I really dont like seeing the super old guys fight. Its kinda sad and really dangerous.

Well BJ penn has his match up at last. Fight night 97 he head lines agains ricardo lamas. RIP bj penn. what an awful match up.

Strange that Johnson would have fallen so far from his performance of last year. He was one of the better d-backs then.
yeah gotta wonder if hes been playing through injury.

Having Flanders on the 46 makes that possible.
its possible either way its just better for offensive versatility with him on the roster/active. Dont think we have another spot youd give up a NI for flanders.

on the bb site Mos said in interview that frederick has been banged up and this week is him getting healthy and giving adams a chance to see if he can regain the form he showed here previously.
Mos also says that harris is a game time decision.

Dude Johnson has been doing the matador tackling all season long. He has had a couple good games but mostly he's been underwhelming. Do you think the Bombers would have insisted on Heath in the Willy trade if they felt Johnson was playing great football?
every team weve played has been picking on him too.

So what's our ideal secondary once everyone is healthy? Randle-Heath-Loffler-Fogg-Adams or does Frederick take over for Adams? What if Adams shows out this week and you can't take him out of the lineup? What about CJ Roberts and Julian Posey? Good problems to have.
Does Walters use this area of strength to help prop up our team in other areas come trade deadline perhaps? I would think that no less than 3-4 teams (Saskatchewan, Edmonton, Montreal, Ottawa if not more) would appreciate the depth at secondary that we have. It also speaks to the fact that Walters held firm in his ask for Heath when we acquired him from the Argos that maybe he has a plan for the added depth at secondary.
Maybe we can flip Roberts or Posey to Sask for Roosevelt before he bails on them in FA anyways
?
should be frederick. Hope fully we see that next week.

Walters better not draft another Mulamba. Also nice to see the first 7 picks not OL for a change. With most teams going to 2 & 3 Intl OL their value may have dropped & players at other positions may have risen.
With possibly 2 picks in the top 7, id be ok if it was all OL.

I think Willy is really going to fulfill that potential we all saw in him early on in Toronto. They are a legit organization and coaching staff and he has Ricky Frikin Ray to learn from. I'm not saying we will regret this later on... because I just don't think he would succeed here... but he's going to be super good there IMO
Im sure we will see a flash of it at least. Idk if that OL and his previous injuries will combine for longevity though.

Bakula's character wasn't the worst. he was an inexperienced explorer. No book was written in his time as to how situations should be handled. Janeway was an experienced Starship Captain who preached the Prime Directive every week & broke it every week. She was an awful character & Captain. It's a wonder her crew never killed her.
I didnt mind any of the star treks too much. Voyager and enterprise are certainly at the bottom though for me. Voyager had some good supporting character stories, Enterprise seemed pretty balanced like that too. Though too much of the threatening to kill off a key character only to pull out.
I really hated how enterprise ret conned story to insert the borg despite superior stories told in better wings of the franchise. and ferengi.
Thats part of why I really wish they would set some thing in the future instead of trying to cram in more prequel stuff that will only lead to changing stories that will probably be better done in other areas of the franchise.
syndicated tv (in the internet era), the final frontier. These are the voyages of the star trek retread. Its cut short mission to explore the same life forms and civilizations, to boldly go where soo many have failed before! da nuh na na na
Allways kinda bugged me how you didnt run into one shows single important race in others. Like betazoids, shape shifters, etc. But every one wants to roll with the borg. Give me a show about none star fleet transport crew. Or marquis, or disgraced klingons going place to place in search of valor and honor. Or even a final big borg war in a post ds9 world. even a star fleet academy spin off.

Maybe for his corner position. Frederick has been playing the same corner spot, i imagine he will shift over for randle. Thats what every one else has made it sound like this week.

Would that make it Randle, Fogg, Heath (in for Johnson), Frederick and Loffler? I'd endorse that secondary.
no but that would be a great group.

I like the idea of taking the RB with Toronto's pick and hope he can replace Harris in a couple of years. Wishful thinking.
Id love for us to sign anthony coombs in the off season. Would be nice to draft a legit high end canadian WR,

Is a "qb pressure" allowing a sack, causing a throwaway, incompletion? I honestly dont know the criteria
pass rusher getting into the back field before he qb has gotten rid of the ball. Forcing him to throw a pass run or throw it away.

id rather the riders finish 3rd from the bottom any how. Maybe then they keep jones going into next season and dont have the top pick in the draft again.
