That logo would look GREAT on some grey cup merch...
-
Ludwigs comment is GOLD. Hell yeah. I hope we rock this logo once a year, its freaking sweet!
-
so the elk are going with 3 imp rbs, and starting 9 nis? 🤔
-
the problem isnt personnel. teams are defending tight zone and inside zone runs differently this year. Thats why its all harris runs for 1 or less vs harris runs for 7-10. If our run package play call doesnt evolve it wont improve. We've seen one out side run in the last month + where the pass game play call has improved dramatically.
-
This year the only games they've had good viewership for is us once, the riders and in hamilton. other wise they have been 150k-200k under the average.
-
Its a classic attempt to destabilize and invoke fear to force a new leadership/ideal into power. Its iirc 5 monthes till kick off 2022 for them. They have no players or coaches under contract, and no longer have the TV deal. They are in a worse position than the XFL 2.0 at this point. Much worse. I know rogers has the majority stake aprox any way, what % does tsn hold? Such a dumb ownership situation. I think we are past that point. The blue jays even when they've been bad were a decent draw. The raptors were a great draw during the bad eras. Its not strictly product related. The argos arent a terrible team this year. When they last won the cup they couldnt draw worth a damn either.

QFT. The cfl would do very well to throw every thing and the kitchen sink at cohon. That guy was phenomenal. Or atleast look for some one with a similar skill set. Ambrosie seems like a lazy hire at best. Yep, and even then I dont know if they'd get 35k. Not to mention the XFL track record of sustainability is piss poor. I also think it is very likely that with the centralized ownership that it will never equal the CFL in terms of quality of play and player. That said, leagues like that do recirculate a lot of talent and help development for the CFL and NFL. The problem is the current spring league variants have been very low quality ball. Border line semi pro at best imo. And if the XFL stays at that level of sub CFL talent, well Its gonna get real ugly real fast for the argos.
-
They clearly arent gonna invest in the team as is. I think its a bad situation all in all. We might well see the argos exodus to the XFL, if the XFL launches.
-
Oh boy as if the rider fans didnt dislike me enough already, now speedflex will hunt me too since my secret is out! 😆 jk. I wouldnt imagine that they have a 10 or 20k cap stadium. I think the best hope would be to find a good location with an existing field and rebuild the stands. It doesnt need to be a 50k stadium, maybe 20k range like the als did for soo long would be good as long as it had room for expansion. Problem is, there are no argo fans. Its not the unwillingness to travel imo, its the general lack of any interest in the argos.

I would think the best option would be to double in a Usports venue and upgrade the seating and stuff. QFT I think if you get into one of the closer suburbs, you'd have a tremendous ability to draw from those stronger outlier communities. The difference in driving to brampton vs driving to the stadium in toronto is huge. (worst city to drive in with in country wide imo) The online streaming is a good point too. I could see selling domestic rights to a SN type, and really going forward trying to focus on getting a strong streaming partner. I mean thats how I watch I stream on TSN. I know a LOT of expats who are constantly trying to figure out ways to watch from their new homes. + you could tap into a bit of the global market. Im sure a bunch of germans would love to watch hansen play .

I think high motor, highly competitive people in toxic situations or situations with out real leadership can be viewed with those questions at times. People who are complacent in a toxic/absentee leadership situation are people who dont want the work and responsibility. Guys like WJ and harris wanted to win. Some times when a winner is stuck on a loser you see flair ups. I cant say for sure thats what it is, but I can see that being it. They certainly have bought into and support the culture. And when your coach, and your star players do it, it is much easier to sell to new guys.
-
Yep. some one should buy him a copy of "leaders eat last" by simon sinek. Or just tell him to stop being a selfish child. w/e. Here, fifo serves as a check and balance system. If some ones ego got to big, itd be checked or they'd be replaced. ssk doesnt have that. In fact no other team in the league imo, has a winners culture. Other teams can (but seldom are) out coach us, out athletic us, they could take away our run game, or pressure, but no team can out work or the bombers. Because every guy on the roster will do the little things to make their team mates better and work together in every aspect.

little known fact, chris strevelers body is made up entirely of heart.
-
He's like chris streveler, with no ***** heart. And no deep ball. Streveler played on a broken ankle and didnt complain.

Ive wondered about moving the argos to some fringe area of the GTA where they could garner more of a small market interest. Id still call em the argos and toronto too. If the CFL dropped toronto, I could see tsn reeling a bit from the bragging rights of average market size etc. But to be honest, the CFLs draw is 3/4 from the west. If the CFL went from TSN to Sportsnet it could actually be an improvement. A big portion of whats broken with marketing to a younger audience is on the TSN side. Old ass reporters who talk over the game, cameras not showing whats actually going on, piss poor quality panels and booth combinations, and every year a bunch of hokey pop country crap forced down our throats. I know sportsnet and the score are toronto based too, but what do those channels actually have exclusive rights to any more?
-
I dont believe that some guys frequently get more calls than others in the CFL. The officials know who our DEs are, but they hardly ever get a holding call from the refs. Wr's dont get favoritism in PI, nor DBs get passes. 100% weak minded BS.
-
coaching and culture.
-
It wouldnt matter if he was faster than ever. No wr will fix a broken qb who cant throw 20 yards down the field. But it is messed up to hear he could be that reduced this year.
-
I would think so, the on the field product turn around has been really good considering the hot mess they were. They are on track to be a really good team next year if they can get consistent QBing. Idk its not like the argos were gonna move to another field what option did they have? I hate the situation with fan support in TO.
-
Its really strange though that we went to him and perez after pulling mauro. He hasnt been cut, but some thing has to be up there. Maybe the dbs getting nicked a little bit as them spooked into wanting an extra DB. Too bad though mauro looked good on cover. The first game against the elk we had the offense rolling towards a blow out with quick screen passes and timing routes. I wouldnt be surprised to see a little bit of that setting up a pump n go or similar deep threat.
-
I wonder if they kept a lot of BS with him bottled up last year, or if he just gets like this during skids. Either way he's way ahead on the poor mans casey printers progression map. "Hey coach I know weve been to 3 straight bowl games, but I want more throws so I can get to the NFL!" "uh, nah casey. This Ladainian tomlinson kid is pretty good, so we're gonna keep pounding the rock..."
-
Yeah its really strange, I dont know why they bought the argos in the first place. We've heard extensively from the new owners in mtl and bc about how they are working to rebuild the fan base. MLSE hasnt said jack. They also have 6 million people in the GTA. And not many of those sports over lap. Toronto has no issues with drawing fans to other entertainment events either. BC doesnt have the NBA, or MLB drawing against the lions. If the jays moved a minor league affiliate to toronto, they would do great. Youd be amazed at how many jays fans went from TO to buffalo to watch the AAA team play pre covid. Thats a crazy good combination indeed. Good luck running up the middle on those guys now. I expect to see a surge in oakmans sack production too. Assuming drake is fairly close to 100% in health and has the rust shaken off. I didnt get the watch the game last night, was shane ray invisible again or did he get any pressures?

Look at the wrs who have had great short careers and gone to the NFL though. Thats the missing factor. The 6'3 and bigger guys that excel here go to the NFL. how do you think a full career of chris mathews up here wouldve looked? Guys who are 6'4+ and are fast enough to be a threat at WR are rare. Go back 10 years and they are frightfully rare. You get the odd randy moss or megatron but those are extreme outliers. Most guys who are that big and not twig thin end up bulking up and playing TE or DE down south. Length, and jumping is more impactful than height. But you seldom have a guy who is 6'0 with a giant 6'6"+ wing span, who can also jump to make up for the difference and has the speed and the skills. Fact is its more efficient for CFL teams to find wrs between 5'10 to the low 6'0 range. When I see a 6'0 190lbs wr get signed I immediately expect them to be either very balanced and polished, or extremely athletic, or extremely skilled. When you sign a guy, like agudosi, who is 6'6, has adequate speed, great length and good jumping, you know he's going to be at an advanced age with less experience (28 before the next season begins, 2 pro catches, only 35 total catches in college) and need a lot of polish. And even then, 1 solid year and he would get an NFL camp invite. Staying out of the NFL lane for prototypical WRs means you get guys who are more pro ready, and keep them longer.
-
This is the curious point. They have very much the same skill set and limitations. But Mcknight is young and has a lot of football ahead of him. If roosevelt is still behind after a month +, its a bad sign. Maybe they feel like they cant get another vet wr, or good nfl cut up in time and want the extra body for a worst case scenario? I trust out scouting 100%. But we make some funny decisions with over the hill vets every year. This is the best year for that by far though.

Our offensive play call since then is night and day. I was pretty worried about buck early on. The last month ish has been very good. Yeah It could favor his skill set more. He isn't breaking a bubble screen for a big gain.
