  1. Send em both on a late night trip to the strip club before the game too.
  2. I’m really interested to see how this game goes too. Game to watch of the week imo.
  3. Personally I think a small back in good shape holds up better. They are harder to square up. And don’t get drug down from behind with as much force or resistance. normally you get a read pick up or and assist. they are on one side of the qb and their read is to pick up the first path to the qb on that side. Could be an edge rusher a blitzer inside or out or a twisting linemen beating a guard. Usually it’s an edge rusher though. Simply first man with a path to the qb on your side. Few backs are capable of crossing behind the qb and picking up a block and it’s risky at best any way. some times If you face a particularly nasty pass rusher like say jeffcoat you might assign your rb to chip the rusher on the outside and force him into the tackle. you more so see a rb on the line head up on a rusher in the us where they will motion a blocker to cover an over load blitz. Other wise here you’d see it in either rare two back sets with a blocking back like we used to with mike sellers or in short yardage. mostly we use wrs to pinch on the edge almost always woli this year. Rbs here mostly pick up the first man. harris used to run block and release and make incredible pick ups. But no one else in the cfl today can do what Harris does in pass pro. given how well Augustine has picked up special teams play and improved as a player over the past two ish seasons I see no reason why he can’t become an excellent pass pro rb. Brady’s us experience has him more adept at pick ups but physically Augustine is soo strong and quick I dont see any thing that limits him. But it’s really some thing you have to do in game to improve at. Augustine’s split on production between big runs and the rest of his runs is the reason imo. The variance is huge. And neither Brady or Augustine is going to produce great with out great ol. Especially in this system. Augustine with a more diverse zone run scheme like ozr split zone mid zone wide zone and counter / counter trap etc gives us our best production. But I don’t think we will diversify our run scheme.
  4. Skill wise no. But we try to hammer both into the same useage any way. rb protection calls are not complex. You can make that point with some thing like chip and Release vs blocking at times. But even those aren’t too hard most of the time. teams scout players tendencies and proficiencies all the time across leagues and levels. And they do it very seldom knowing the play book of that team. augustines lack of consistency is enough reason alone. They might feel he’s not big enough for the every down pounding I don’t tend to agree with that logic and those things we can’t know. id love to see some postulation as to why he doesn’t start from people who think Augustine should start.
  5. I tend to think Powell is toast. But idk if devonte Williams is an every down back either. I tend to think not. Hard for any 170lbs back to be an every down back now with how much pass pro rbs do in the cfl. More blocking plays than plays getting the ball. That might give them a really good one two punch though. Williams is extremely good with the ball in his hands. Would be a great gimmick guy. And plop loves those. that’s a great point about mercs. Look at bc ott tor and think who will be the guy that dives on the Grenade for his team mates? Who will give up his body on kick cover like hansen? Who will tip a ball to his team mate to get a championship winning pic?
  6. It’s not in the same tier as Masoli. His release is good not great. His quick footwork makes his release seem faster than it is. His release also lacks Masolis ability to change arm angles and release points to get it out under extreme pressure. The way to play a qb like rourke is to make him hole the football and not let him get comfortable with looks. show and drop a lot. Blitz dbs. Drop bighill back deep. Lots of variety from the same pre snap forms. Make him rely on his post snap reads and decision making. definitely getting guys into the passing lanes instead of pass rushing. Passing lanes and contain then if he runs really make him pay a physical toll. This team is made to over come adversity. How we come out of stretches like this will separate us from teams like bc and ott. as long as Masoli stays healthy and I think they need to get the run game going. They are better than I thought they’d be. But I still don’t think they have the poise discipline toughness or unity to win it all. Same with bc.
  7. If they aren’t they are a lock to host a play off game as long as they stay healthy. I think they might end up being in the top 3 for the regular season.
  8. I don’t think so. Simoni Lawrence more so. The media is rider centric and cf gets crammed down our throats as being far better than he is. Remember this time last year when the media was pumping him as the front runner for mop? Cfl media is soo dumb. They always pump up teams and players who start against weak schedules. Bc and edms secondary and defenses last year. The bc offense this year etc. if any thing I think we see more talk of rourk This year.
  9. I’d love to hear him talk about the culture of the team around dinwiddie too.
  10. I bet you LT wakes up in a cold sweet every soo often from that hit. I put a guy to the turf in school once head first. The thought of the noise would almost make me hurl for years.
  11. The one imp wr and rb. The wr Harrison had the long td in pre season. He’s a big speedy down field guy. And mcrae. Whose like 175lbs very slight build shifty explosive back. Both did some return duty.
  12. I don’t thimk mbt will fair well vs our team. And I think our front 6 is gonna be up to kick Harris ass. yep. Only way he can block is if you put him directly up on his man and they don’t twist. That’s a valid point but I think bc is pumped up on bad teams and our defense will be the real challenge for them.
  13. He’s a kr with a strong pedigree. He should be viable. I’d rather start 7 too but it is what it is.
  14. It’s impossible for any one db to mess up coverage over all. Communication can be a real issue with change but that’s on leadership. The main issue with Malcom is that he sells out for hits too much. Wouldn’t really matter if he was faster or better in coverage imo. That alone severely limits his viability. But ba will be back before long and the communication is getting better. I’m sure this week we will see the best game from the secondary so far this year again.
  15. True. And then got about 15 for Willy. I guess but a 7th round pick is as close to zero value as possible in the cfl. I’d rather get a neglist guy, right to swap picks or some thing. Wow I didn’t even realize that. Crazy. I feel like jones just makes stuff up as he goes when it comes to the rest of the league. He always drafts crazy pays crazy let’s guy walk he shouldn’t etc. I don’t think he has a better understanding of value in the cfl than any rando poster on here.
  16. He was on the hot seat for sure. Walters and wade showed great poise to stick with him. Khari isn’t getting a fraction of the lee way that mos did. I had my doubts for sure. I thought the COs should go before him but his love for fringe marginal players had he worried. He still has that and it drives me crazy at times. But he gets the most out of his guys and is a great leader. I’d say the best leader in the league in any role. Skip the movie entirely and read the book. Fantastic piece by Michael Lewis.
  17. This. He’s tiny but dude is slick. They could weave him and grant into the office.
  18. Remember when mos had a well below .500 record as a hc? Or when we were a good regular season team that couldn’t get traction in the play offs? In the last decade and 5 ish years this franchise has turned 180 and sustained a level of greatness that is seldom seen.
  19. It’s really horrific. Even just lts response is crushing. The empathy and desperation screaming through one of the meanest toughest athletes ever is soo intense.
  20. If demski is out I think either Harrison or mccrae draw in. Orange was looking really good and that’d be nice to see continue too. rose could draw back in for this game too. I think all the other injuries are longer than week to week.
  21. Why would you trade a cfl player for a 7th round pick? Seriously that’s almost as bad as the northern league baseball player traded for beer. sucks about burnham. That’s a lousy injury too.
  22. Dunta on desean. Punters and pro bowls Mcgahee Lt
  23. Terry ray on Pat woodcock. Milt took a vicious hit over the middle that had him twitching on the field. Willis mcgahee in his last college game. Sean Taylor on the punter in the pro bowl. Robinson on Deshean Jackson. lots of hits in the top tier in my books. Biggies was amazing. Never seen a harder form tackle. the three scariest for me are theisman love lt and that reaction was sobering. Theisman such a good dude. Heart breaking. milt I don’t even remember who hit him. But man my heart was in my stomach. and mcgahee. 4th quarter last game kids about to be one of the first picks in the draft. Screen pass. Hit right away. He goes down and his leg is stuck. Knee bends the wrong way and he gets carted off.
  24. You might get hero investor type like Buono. You could go after a guy like reinbold. Did Cleybrooks find work? Maybe you reach out to a legend like moon and have him work with a guy like paopao or coach Ritchie. Just have to have a high end concert with every home game lol. takes a lot out of a guy being a hired gun with no real connection dedication or desire to compete.
  25. The dru brown hit should be called 100% of the time. Purely excessive. If they are consistent with the jake call then fine. Don’t love it but at least if they are consistent I get it. But when they aren’t consistent and make calls like that it’s just the worst thing in sports.
