  1. Depends on how we decide to do the roster. We could start 2 imps and use the Canadians in place of a DI, or we could start 1 Canadian and roster an imp back up. We could end up with 3 imp lbers, but If we do I think we are likely worse off. Our jones is limited in what he can do, new jones is far less limited, kyrie is a shadow of his former self, Ayers is the guy I want to see kept/played/developed more than any other imp lber. Unless some thing drastic changes. next week or two we have Shay join us up here, Kyrie is an easy walk away from guy, and Tony jones limitation in the pass game makes him easily replaced by Jonathon jones, and Ayers. Plus we got Makonzo and the role of the dime will. Now maybe Kyrie has found the fountain of youth, or Tony jones has found prime bighills range in pass pro, but I sure would bet against either of those things happening.
  2. 3 starting imp ol with 6 ol on the ar makes us soo much better on the field than 2 starting imp and 7 ol. Success in football largely boils down to protecting your passer, and disrupting the opposition passer. Las year we disrupted the other teams passer with the back end of our coverage. Our primary limiting factor last year and this year will be pass pro. And to best way to support our pass pro, is starting an IMP g in all likelihood, and instead of going an extra blocker on the line going with a guy like MCI in a 2 back set so we have an extra layer of protection on either side of zach. I'm hopeful schoen will return to form. We need mitchell/white/sterns and or a rookie to pan out really well. We have a margin for error with the number of bodies we have, but we don't have a margin for underachieving. Some one or maybe 2 wrs needs to step up big for us. Makonzo and the NI lbers are going to be huge for our ratio. If we can use Makonzo as our dime pack will instead of an imp that gives us a ton of help shaping up the roster. The hard part is going to be limiting our imp lber commitments.
  3. Should be a big push by Guys like gowanlok, Novak, etc to take the last spot over a 7th ol. I’d be ok with schmeck taking Jake’s spot and being the 7th ol as the 7th dl. But short of injury I don’t think that happens.
  4. My guess is with this timing he wasn’t gonna be physically ready or didn’t put in the work they were looking for. the elk also signed Jonathon rosery who I wish we never cut.
  5. It is. I don’t think it’d be financially viable to have these guys playing all over. I think it’d have to atleast start out as a south Ontario to qubec thing. With in a 4 hour ish drive radius you have a ton of infrastructure. It you send kids there who aren’t gonna be in the cfl, give them a chance to make it and 25-35k, you’ll scoop up a huge portion of the guys who fall out of the league. I might add globals as well. Say a limit of 5 globals and 5 Americans per team.
  6. 100% over due. I think you could run it out of a satellite market like the xfl did for a while. Ontario probably gives you the most places to play and teams to pull support from. Though for greedy reasons I’d want it in the parties. You could run a spring league of 5-6 games then run an in season league of say 8 games. that way you have every one available for cfl tcs, you scoop all the cut kids, and if any take big steps they are available mid season for teams that need injury replacements.
  7. https://3downnation.com/2025/05/04/blue-bombers-gm-kyle-walters-cfls-tweaked-roster-rule-stinks-for-late-round-draft-picks/ TLDR, not a rule change just enforcement change. 1/3 if guys sent back make an ar for 1 game, 1 notable impact player recently. For us, this years pick Iwinosa Uwubanmwen won’t be in camp this year and will be a none counter next year. Also last years picks Kalra and Vlahogiannis won’t be in camp.
  8. Thought I’d throw out the remaining schedule till kick off May 7th, rookie camp. May 10th cut down to 85 players excluding none counters May 11th TC opens May 13th cut down to 75 players May 24th first pre season game, at home vs ssk 4pm est kick off May 30th 2nd pre season game in ssk 9pm est kick off May 31st training camps close June 12th week 2 our first game at home vs bc 730 cst kick off. We will have a bit of extra time to finalize our game day roster, practice and be under the sms to start the season with the week 1 bye.
  9. I mean, surely he can punt really poorly at worst. Just like our current punter.
  10. I mean, I never wanted to like blm or see him in the cfl post career but he sure made me do it.
  11. Yup. People forget he was a db in the NFL for 4 years. He played special teams for ott. He had like 150 tackles in the NFL. Guy was a blood n guts gritty tough football player. And to meet him as a person, humble down to earth smart and classy. lol we can hate the player and love the guy. Just like blm.
  12. Nah the fact he’s got this sub par fit from an excellent program deep with coaches speaks volumes to how high quality a person and coach he is. The chris jones type move would be sliding into a program that under achieved in a lesser or sub optimal spot so you can slither up into the hc spot with any on field turmoil. Kerry Joseph is a great guy, very very mos like in character attitude work ethic and leadership.
  13. Former cfler Kerry Joseph took an ast coach job in Texas, he’s going to be a special defensive ast. He’s been a qb coach the last few years in the nfl. A college job like Texas is a good gig, but special assistant on the D side isn’t great for longevity. He’s was pretty close to being jobless this season. He’d be a great target for a team up here, especially for fresh blood on O and qb grooming. And to groom as a hc.
  14. Cam Peterson is a 6’5 280 dt from southern, parts of 2 seasons had 50 tackles 4 sacks 9.5 tfl. 5.54 40 was disappointing, but 34” vert and almost 10’ broad is good. Played 3t-4i which fits well with what we do. Kicked around the nfl work outs/camps a bit. Sounds like a guy coaches really liked down there.
  15. 29 rushing tds in 25 games too. 5’7 220lbs, talk about a wrecking ball build. 4800 yards and 80tds in high school too. His measurables are not great athletically, but his quickness and acceleration are very good. Hes got great cut back and hesitation moves, and he’s a tough north south runner. https://www.nfldraftbuzz.com/Player/Quinton-Cooley-RB-WakeForest
  16. Didn’t Kerry Joseph do it once or am I crazy? And cut lucky, good moves all around. I’m excited to see what Bailey brings. Even if some one else plays like their hair is on fire, short of injury I don’t think any one is changing the top3. when elgersma gets out of mini camp and doesn’t get an nfl deal (mini camp invite is a pretty raw deal for the players these days, it’s like a coaching clinic, no longer a try out for camp) we bring him in, we cut the worst of the rest of the QBs. I like chase’ arm talent, but we tear through rookie QBs at warp speed. Talented or not. It takes a lot for a rookie qb to earn a long term pr spot. It is as likely that a qb is gone and another rookie is in before elgersma even gets here. Hopefully elgersma doesn’t drag his heels hoping for an nfl pr invite after minicamp. He needs to get here asap after that imo. Having mini camp and getting here too late would be a big blow to year one development.
  17. I love the idea and we usually get some thing similar but a bit more fluffy from Tait here. If the league put it self out there more and gave fans all the stuff they don’t want to share, they would create a huge vacuum for the target demographic. I know no team would want to be that open, but if they want to break the norm it will take great discomfort. I’m not talking about teams bad mouthing players they don’t like, but being open about what they do like about who they like. Competitively, it comes to pass fairly quickly after the draft that each team knows who the other teams liked. And it doesn’t really matter at that point any way.
  18. I mean we finally grew him into a useful piece on teams only to get rid of him. It’s bizarre to say the least. But it’s kind of status quo.
  19. I mean, find some one from the nfl side saying Streveler was over rated. Augustine was given the same money as Brady at one point, (and making more than other starters in the league) and is a career 200 yard per season rusher over 6 seasons. Augustine played teams for barely a year and a half. He became solid at it in the end, which is a small piece of his career. We’ve seen worse Canadians get a lot more chances than they should have many times in the league. Hamilton went after all our ex players. I wouldn’t be stunned if at some point they go after dole now lol.
  20. Wilson is easily as solid in qb3 as Strev is at qb2. I don’t care for either. Glad one is gone. One more to go.
  21. Far better backs have have more over larger sample sizes and been cut. Small sample size ypc is meaningless.
  22. He also had a 40 soo slow you couldn’t even say he ran. He wade millered that time. If came out the way he was when he left here, first round pick. Wonder if he’s eligible for ufl or arena or some thing. Honestly, still reasonable to take the guy but probably went too high. All makes a lot of sense now.
  23. This brings us to 6 plus elgersma. That’s fine for rookie camp if you want to limit Zach/chris throws before full tc. But you gotta cut atleast one out of rookie camp, and then another if elgersma signs. In tc you just don’t have that many snaps first and second unit get lots of reps. You can rotate in 1 guy with each unit reasonably well. Balancing a full 3rd unit on O means a full one on D and leaves it being led not by your co or your primary position cosch (oc then qb coach) but by a 3rd depth coach. And it means you don’t have qb coach / oc eyes on those snaps which heavily devalues even having them. In the nfl, a third unit is run by guest coaches with help from in league scouts. We don’t have that luxury any more. So more than 4 QBs in camp isn’t good unless you have a hurt qb. In rookie camp you have fleets of WRs and dbs running drills over and over. You end up with an insane volume of throws in even 30-45 minutes. An extra arm there is great. You often see coaches winging balls at times when you have 4 or less or need to spell one guy. I expect we have known if one of a group of guys comes available, the lowest man on the roster is gone. Likely a certain former rider qb.
  24. Feel like this means a qb cut is happening. I like the arm talent. Very easy fluid smooth arm motion. Fast release that he can speed up/shorten if needed. Despite all that he has all the arm strength you could need. Not a laser cannon but really good. Great considering his release and motion. Sneaky quick and a really smart runner. Doesn’t take stupid hits, runs smart angles, keeps his eyes down field, and can break bigger runs.
  25. Yep. And we’ve seen guys who mad a million plus come up north from the nfl. Manziel to bishop.
