A "Tourist Hit" by definition in the 2015 CFL Rule Book

Unnecessary physical contact, including but not limited to, running into, diving into, cut blocking
or throwing the body on a player who is:

    A)  out of the play, or
B ) should not have reasonably anticipated such contact by an opponent, before or after
    the ball is dead;
    C) throwing a ball carrier to the ground after the ball is dead.

So... Chung's hits were they cheap or in defense of our QB or other team mate?

What I find amusing is when people use the argument that 'the other candidate, the other person is as bad or worse when it comes to the above said behaviours'.

Okay, that makes everything fine, yeesh.

Regardless of what side one supports, I'm embarrassed for us humans when this 'argument' is used to explain things away.

Like Rider fans saying all other teams have a "pre-practice" squad?

  3. Holy ****... it is unbelievable the spin some of these posters put on this scandal:

For years the Riders did with out and now they have a real budget outside of the SMS and some teams dont want to spend to what the Riders are in getting talent and now we have to blow it all up to level the playing field all over again.

The league has evolved to what it is today without much of wimper and all of a sudden the Riders go out and get a top coach and a top player personal guy, get rid of the napkins and set up a real scouting system bringing players in to try out and its now against the spirit of the rules that were set up.

Its smelling like some are getting scared what a competitive Rider team might do to the league besides being their biggest revenue generator.

    and the corresponding gem:

Oh, I agree. Saskatchewan is suddenly not acting like the pain-in-the-butt kid brother anymore. It's swinging back, and it turns out it has put on a few pounds recently. Our role has always been to "just get by" in the big kids' world, and in the last decade, we've exceeded expectations. Now we're flexing our muscles, and the big kids are getting worried.

No, not about our record (1-5). Just about what it will mean if we do all of the things you've mentioned, like spending money on coaches and facilities, and demonstrate a willingness to push the boundaries instead of simply saying "thank you sir, may I have another" when other teams do the same things.

it's really funny... sad also.... very very sad.

    ***Edit***

Just to be clear... this IS in fact some responses to what's the word...? Taxigate? Pre-practicegate?

Also his punting has been excellent not deep but place perfectly. Remember people were in full panic mode about his punting before season. Bombers have the best punt cover team in the league. A lot of this has to do with the depth of the team and Walters drafting. Many people say picks like Waggoner are bust but when you can maintain gain field posistion the contributions those guys make are enormous.

I think he gets a lot of hang time in his punts- guys have more time to get into better position. He never out kicks his coverage.

Not to bring this up again, but, my god, Goalies last post is the exact rhetoric that Pavelec defenders used for years and years. Literally to a T. Instead of Willy you have Pavelec, and instead Nichols you have Mason, Montoya, Hutchinson. The same strawman arguments about people thinking Hutch not being a savior (no one claimed) are now being trotted out for Nichols. No one thinks Nichols is a star QB who's a savior, but, he sure as hell is better than Willy and a lot cheaper. Hmm who's that remind you of?

    Stop constructing Strawmen arguments.

Further, the game is played on the field. Not on paper, and results aren't determined by who's better in practice or who has perceived to have better tools and upside. I don't give a flyin' banjo if Willy outperforms Nichols in practice and has a better "toolkit" than Nichols. If he can't make proper decisions in game because he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer, he's no good to us.

And not to bring up his salary again, but if you're going to pay someone 400k+ in the CFL.... they better be one of the top players in their position.  Right now Willy would be a backup QB option for Saskatchewan, us, maybe Toronto,  and Montreal. The rest of the league would pass on this nearly 30 year old with "all sorts of upside".
