  13. Winnipeg's new Western Hockey League team has announced it will play its only home pre-season game on Saturday, Sept. 7 against the Brandon Wheat Kings at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie. Game time is 7 p.m. It will be unassigned seating, but tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for children 12-and-under. The Ice will also play four pre-season road games, including Friday, Sept. 6 in Brandon at 7:30 p.m. before closing out the exhibition campaign with games on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14 in Saskatoon against the Blades. Both games start at 8 p.m. Central time.

  19. Ice Captain Peyton Krebs suffered a partially torn Achilles tendon when cut by another player's skate during a workout earlier this week. The 18-year-old center had surgery to repair the damage but a date for his return to action is unknown. Krebs is rated the 10th best North American skater by NHL Central Scouting for the 2019 draft.
