2016-2017 opening night: Ehlers - Little - Wheeler Lucic - Scheifele - Stamkos Gaudreau - Little - Eriksson Dano - Lowry- Jagr   Yandle - Byfuglien Hamhuis - Trouba

  • When is it? I'll be watching football over a money grab pointless tournament that means nothing plus it's on sportsnet so that automatically makes it difficult to watch.

Funny stuff. Now do the 2023-2024 lineup.

  • Author

7 Little would be in his last year and I assumed he would be moved as he would be asking more than the Jets would offer (5.75 per).

Maybe should have been 2018-2019 lineup.

Let me try again...

Ehlers1  Scheifele4.9  Wheeler5.6    =11.5m
Connor1  Little4.4  Armia2.8   =8.2m
Copp1.9  Perreault5  (2016 1st round draft pick)1   =7.9m
Lemieux1 Lowry2.5 Roslovic1   =4.5m

Enstrom5.75 - Trouba5.75   =11.5m
LHD*4.5 - Buff7.5   =12m
Morrissey1 - Myers5.5      =6.5m

Helle4.6 /Comrie.7      =5.3m

Bolded = rookie

*acquired in Ladd trade. (Ladd's return + Petan/2017 1st round draft pick for 2LHD).

Assumes Perreault re-signs for 5m and that Scheif re-signs for 4.9 , Trouba for 5.75, Copp for 1.5, Armia for 2.8 and Lowry for 2.5 .

Also assumes Stafford, Ladd, Stuart, Petan, Hutchinson and Burmi are traded.

salary = 67.4m

A little more fun to do in August.  But, I dont see Armia on the top line whatsoever (and Im an Armia fan).  And even Connor, I dont think the Jets pencil him in for a top line role that quick.  If anyone from the Moose make the team, it's Petan, not Kossie.  Lipon...maybe but with Burmi and Armia, they will beat him out for the bottom winger spot first.  Lemieux doesnt make the team next season.

If Morrissey if the #1 LHD, there is a problem.  And that bottom pairing?  Yikes.  Thats three turnovers on D when the Jets have lots of D already.  Not gonna happen.  You're predicting they trade Buff but keep Ladd and while doing that dont bring in Hamonic.

Comrie aint gonna be the Jets backup next season.

If this is the line up, we're going to get another top pick next season.

My last post is the one I just posted and this is the 2017-2018 lineup not next season's lineup.

2 early to guess.

Gotta see who they draft cuz Laine Matthews or Puljujarvi would probably be on the team next year.

Niku and Kostalek tho? Only on the moose. Neither are close to ready to make the jump to the nhl.

I think Lemieux does make the team next season tho. They are very high on him. Connor? If he leaves Michigan he will Def be on the Jets. Roslovic? Not yet.

it is for 2017-2018...

Lol. Still. Kostalek and Niku won't be on the team. I'm not sure either makes the Jets ever.

Buff should go to 7.6 and overall to 67.5.

Jets won't be trading first round picks anytime soon

  • Author

If Chevy can get a 2LHD, he would give up 1st for it.

I doubt it actually. Jets are draft and development.  Don't see them trading firsts for a while. Why trade a potential who knows? 1st overall pick. Jets are good but they aren't ready to compete with the real contenders for a bit.

Unless that LHD is a guarantee and on a good contract and young... it won't happen. Teams don't trade top 2 d men very often.

  • Author

He'll probably have more than one 1st round pick this year if he trades Ladd.

I'd gladly trade one and another (Petan? Harkins?) fairly big piece for a 2LHD.

You might but they won't. It's just how it is. No point in even talking about it. I doubt they trade any prospects either until they see what they actually are. Why are you always trying to trade petan? Guy has potential to be very good.

  • Author

You gotta give to get....where do you see Petan in two years? On the Jets and if so, which line? I mentioned Harkins too but they were just examples. If Petan makes the Jets, I can't see it higher than the 3rd line and maybe a penalty killer.

Writing Petan off after a handful of games... and he didn't really seem out of place...  Buffalo gave up on Armia and he's only 22...

In two years... Petan replaces Perrault...

Where's Little?

I had a premonition that he'd get hit by a bus.

I actually have concerns with Petan after watching a couple of Moose games.

There is no doubt the guy has incredible puck skills, but he really lacks high end speed.  I would have hoped / expected that at the AHL level a small guy like that would have noticeable speed compared to the rest of the competition.  But he doesn't.  He looks average out there.

Someone of his size typically needs something to make up for his lack of size in the NHL, and for the smaller guys who make it, it is usually speed to avoid checks, to skate away from the competition.  He doesn't seem to have it.

Jury is still out for sure.  I'm not writing him off completely, but it is concerning.
