The TV Thread

Second season of Orange is the New Black launched today.

Anyone else into this?

I have to admit to being a bit of a TV/movie-phile.  I generally buy Blu-Rays when there's a movie I want to see rather than just watching it on PPV or In-demand (I like to collect).

Premium TV has really been leading a creative resurgence in recent years, probably dating back to The Sopranos.  Its nice that Netflix has become a legitimate competitor for HBO (which puts out some really great shows like Sopranos, Deadwood, Boardwalk Empire, True Blood etc).

House of Cards was tremendous.

While cable channels like AMC are getting in on the act, I annoys me a bit.  The Walking Dead would be so much better on Netflix or HBO where they could truly appeal to adults (HBO passed on The Walking Dead when Thomas Jane was attached).

As for Orange, it took me a few episodes to get into last season but Im looking forward to banging out a few episodes tonight.

As an aside, for you Trekies, it was recently the 20th anniversary of the finale of TNG, one of the best Series' Finales in TV history.

So, Survivor this week.  Another good episode.  It was like watching a car accident in slow motion as the one voted out made a bad play and we all knew it was a bad play.

Excellent news.  its really good.  And I must say, I have a thing for Becky.

She is so unbelievably sketchy......alcoholic with a super-sketch tattoo......yikes.

CBS is finally going to put Elementary to bed, the upcoming season will be it's last

The character yes.  The actress looks great.  I think she's mid 40's.  (Although I suppose Lecy Goranson could also be an alcoholic, I dont know lol).

Is Tori Spelling THAT desperate, though granted I hadn't seen any of the cast in anything for years, with the exception of Ziering, we all know what he's been doing

I would be perfectly fine with this if they completely retconned the events in the 2008 series (seriously they split Donna and David, they had Dylan abandon Kelly) I mean if the show did ANYTHING right it got Doherty and Garth talking to each other again....NICELY!!!!

Wouldn't that be something? A 90210 reunion because Tori is desperate for money. And not too ironically, the person who would benefit most would be her stepmom, who gave Tori nothing after her father passed away.

Considering it lasted 11 seasons...depending on how they revive it, I think the odds are in its favor.

Edit: It could end up being a totally different show.  Especially if there's no laugh track, and like Noeller said, being about current politics and social media.  There isn't really anything like that on TV right now.

they even spoofed Alexa in one eisode

CBS did say that the revival would see Murphy Brown "return to a world of cable news, social media, fake news and a very different political and cultural climate."

I don't remember much fake news being covered much

I'm not sure Bergen had plastic surgery, I mean I do know that she was a feminist in the 70s (I don't know if she still is, did she do any marching last week or last year?) and who knows who she'll thumb her nose at here compared to 26 years ago (I hope we'll see her son too in the reboot)

well I was right we got lots of Avery in the reboot following in his mother's footsteps, working at the wolf network which was a spoof of FOX news

She wasn't poor then.

They say its a reboot but with the original cast members.  Which is weird.  The original cast members wont be playing highschool students so whats the point?  I think they mean a revival that maybe ignores what happened in the CW revival.  Though it mentions some of those cast members could return too.

True Crime fans should check out The Innocent Man on Netflix.  Im only three episodes in and its great, really setting the stage for whatever comes next.

Just watched "In Bruges" a 2008 film starring Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes, best movie I've seen in a very longtime.  If you like black comedy you'll enjoy this one.

Fiennes is always solid.

Yeah, I enjoyed that one. Another good True Crime series is Escape At Dannemora. The 7 episode series just finished up on Sunday and I believe its on The Movie Network in Canada. (I saw it on Kodi).

Its about that 2015 prison escape in upstate New York with the massive manhunt.
