Game 49 : Gateway to the West @ Gateway to the West
Goalie replied to FrostyWinnipeg's topic in Winnipeg Jets Discussion
Lol. Really? Last time he played in Winnipeg was last week in a 4 2 Chicago Wolves win over the Moose. Interesting. This gives me some hope but the Jets are definitely known for making AHL goalies look like superstars when they play against them. Fun fact: Copley is from North Pole Alaska (just outside Fairbanks ) -
Perhaps it was time to move on from Durant... but the problem with doing that is there is nobody behind him with any real experience. CFL is a QB driven league.... you don't exactly need a stud superstar QB to win but you need a guy with experience for sure. You look at the bombers when we moved on from Glenn.... You look more recently at Montreal moving on from AC. It doesn't work if you don't have a guy with experience. Riders don't have a guy with experience... what they have is a hope and a prayer kind of like bomber fans had with Lefors Randall Brink Elliot etc and like Als fans had with Cato and the other 25 QBS that started since AC left

Sticking up for Flaherty now? Oh wow. When you got an agenda against a goalie you got an agenda. Here's a better question for ya Ducky about Flaherty and Huddy for that matter Why after 1 playoff appearance in 6 years, swept in 4 games, are these 2 guys still here? Noel is long gone... why are "his" assistants still here? 6 years for these 2. Why? Their lack of results speak for them self. Helle when he came up last year was big and boring. Hes not that this year. Why is that? Only 1 reason. Eric Comrie himself said the first thing Flaherty told him was to play deeper in the net... that's not what you want your goalie to do. The goalie coach should definitely be charged this off season and I guarantee that if you bring in a new goalie coach with a clue.... all our goalies would be better off. Right now tho... they all play the exact same way... deep in the net and flopping around like fish. That's definitely on coaching. Seriously go watch helle when he first came up... big and boring... strong positioning... out to cut down angles.... now look. It's coaching and it's Flaherty cuz hutch and pav pretty much do the same thing

Facts be damned I suppose.

According to people in attendance... the cheers were much louder than the so called jeers and silence. I honestly don't think that many of the fans nowadays 1. Really know what snuka apparently did and 2. He was never convicted so... I mean I get it... maybe he did kill that girl 25 years ago.. but maybe he didn't. Nobody knows for sure. Plus... like it or not snuka was a legend who inspired tons and tons of wrestlers and people worldwide. I wasn't born but that moment he jumped off the top of the cage at MSG.... he became a legend.

4-2 Blues. Jets struggle with st louis D zone coverage and end up with about 22 shots on goal. Pavelec lets in 4 soft goals and makes 1 spectacular save and the post game narrative is how amazing pavelec was. -
A week ago helle was 913. Save percentage changes on a game by game basis for every goalie who plays in the game.

Hutton gets the start with some guy named Copley backing him up.

Really don't think Scheif would be considered a vet, he just kind of came in to his own last year, he still has some upside, I think i'd consider a vet a guy like Wheeler, Little, Buff, they are what they are and there really is no more upside for them, they are a known commodity, Scheif? He still has some room to grow i think. Vet? Hard to say, depends what you mean by Vet, but.. IMO a veteran player is what he is and there is very little to no more upside to that player, Is that Scheif? I don't think so.

I'm not sure Maurice will be fired anytime soon aka during the season but during the off-season? who knows, lots can change, who knows exactly, if a clear upgrade is available, you'd be foolish not to at least look in to their interest in coming here. Perhaps during the players interviews with Chevy, some of the guys on the team tell him they feel Maurice has run his course, you just don't know what could happen. I don't exactly think they are where they expected them to be, I'm not sure i buy that notion, i think they thought they would be pushing for a wild card spot, they are but have multiple games in hand on all those teams, so are they? I dunno exactly, The PP and PK is still struggling, there seems to be a lack of structure at times in their O and D zone play, these are issues, these are coaching issues, is it because they haven't practice enough? I dunno, is it because the systems they are running are out of date and perhaps don't fit the players we have? It might be, maybe not tho. We run a man on man Defensive system, that doesn't really happen in the NHL these days anymore. That system is a bit out of date, is it on Maurice or is it on the players? perhaps both but... at the same time, if the current system isn't working, the coach should probably recognize that and change it up... Who knows what will happen in the off-season tho, this also could be part of the 32 games in 60 days factor (an NHL record) and all the injuries they had during that time. I'm not convinced that if Maurice was let go that he would be hired that quickly, why? Because he was unemployed for many many years before the Jets came calling and never really had his name brought up when teams were looking for new coaches. I just don't see another team giving him a chance, maybe but he probably wouldn't be their first or even 2nd choice tho.

The white house website has removed all mentions of climate change. Lol. I'm not convinced climate change is a real thing exactly but you can't ignore that it might be

It just shows you that every goalie goes through rough stretches. Helle was about league average prior to his last 2 games.

Today Orange is the New Black.

WWE is probably in on Kennys work that he's playing on the business. Pretty sure he's gonna stay in NJPW for a bit longer

St Louis goalies stinking it up vs Washington tonight. 6 goals allowed on 16 shots. Keys to this game.... shoot the puck.

Goaltending around the league seems to be going through an awful time. Holtby lets in 8. Murray 7. Price 7 and has been struggling. Tonight Jake Allen and Hutton have allowed 6 goals on 16 shots. St Louis really struggling at the moment. So the key to Saturday vs the Blues... shoot the puck and lots.
