  1. And here I thought Popp was going to announce that they had stolen MB from us...

Wouldn't be surprised to see Garcia end up as BC OC...

Benevides down to us, Sask or... ?

If Tedford goes to BC, I can't imagine it's anybody other than Cortez as the OC.

He will need a guy who has been around for a while to help ease him back in, and they have worked together twice before.

  2. Tom Higgins announced that the team has hired Anthony Calvillo as an offensive coach.

Ryan Dinwiddie is staying, but will not be the offensive coordinator - not a surprise, he wasn't calling the plays towards the end of the year.

Jeff Garcia won't return, and neither will RB coach Mark Speckman.

Turk Schonert stays, as does all the defensive coaches.

So, to sum: Alouettes will need an OC, QB Coach (Calvillo?), and RB Coach.

  3. The thing I find funny about this is that Chamblin came out and said that he was often making defensive play calls last season including all the defensive play calls during the Western semifinal in Edmonton.  So if he was the guy calling the shots, it's looking more and more like Hall is simply a scapegoat.

Also, in knowing that, I'm not sure how attractive that situation might be to a guy like Benevides.   Food for thought at any rate.

Absolutely. Very typical of a Head Coach and/or GM to deflect blame by letting others go.

  4.

Find it funny that Chamblin cited a difference in philosophies with Hall as a reason for being terminated .. yet they are keeping him around in some capacity .. I just can't see how this would lead to anything but dysfunction within that organization ..

Nah. Look how well it worked when they had two head coaches on the field at the same time a few years ago.

Are you referring to the time they then fired said two head coaches, and replaced them with an interim head coach, who also happened to be the boss of the GM?

  5.

Just got back from my barber shop. Jordan Sisco was in last week and told my barber that he was going to be signing with the Bombers. Not a huge name. Was often hurt with the Riders but could be good competition at camp.

Sisco has been the butt of as many jokes in Sask as Etienne was here. Allways hurt- worse than Corey Watson- can't see how he could be of any use here.

Side bet between Taman and Walters to see if either could pump life into Etienne/Sisco's career?

"Rose Bowl".  Like that's a real thing...

    Got some beauties this year.

Wonder if the people in St. Petersburg know they're getting paid in imaginary money?

And why wouldn't anything involving the "Heart of Dallas" be sponsored by Lipitor?  They're missing out on some obvious cholesterol problem based synergy there.

As always, I look forward to the San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl.

  8. Widener Pride lose a home playoff game for the first time.

Mike Kelly sounded off afterwards about Eagles HC Chip Kelly visiting Linfield (Oregon team) during the week.

"Make sure you put in the paper that we thank Chip Kelly and I hope the Seahawks do well tomorrow," Widener coach Mike Kelly said. "He was helping them out. Maybe somebody in Philadelphia ought to buy him a map so he knows where he lives now. But, go Seahawks."

  9. Who ya got?

Committee backed themselves into a corner moving TCU ahead of Florida State this week. Don't think there is a chance they miss the opportunity of Alabama vs FSU though if they beat G-Tech.

Baylor beat TCU, and they played virtually the same schedule, but the Big 12 will declare co-champions, hurting Baylor's case.

    1. Bama

    2. Oregon

    3. TCU

    4. FSU

    5. Ohio State

    6. Baylor
