  1. Indictments are coming: At long last, criminal justice will catch up with Donald Trump Putting a former president on trial for alleged criminal behavior would be the first prosecution of its kind in American history. It would also do much toward restoring the myth that no person or corporation is above the law. As James Doyle has explained, putting Trump on trial "redeems American justice." Looking both backward and forward, I would argue that putting the former racketeer in chief and his accomplices on trial for seditious conspiracy to overthrow the U.S. government — arguably the ultimate constitutional crime — is more tangible than the abstract goal of redeeming American justice. In this insurrectionary moment, "substantive" due process justice trumps "procedural" due process justice. After the first five public hearings held by the House select committee investigating the organized and coordinated activities of Donald J. Trump and his allies to steal the 2020 presidential election, culminating in the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol attack, it seemed apparent that Attorney General Merrick Garland would not prosecute Trump for two likely federal crimes: "obstructing an official proceeding" and engaging in a "conspiracy to defraud the United States." https://www.salon.com/2022/07/05/indictments-are-coming-at-long-last-criminal-justice-will-catch-up-with-donald/
  2. Fox News could be subject to major financial setback as judge OKs lawsuit over false election claims: report A judge ruling in favor of a billion-dollar defamation lawsuit moving forward signals the possibility of looming financial woes for Rupert Murdoch's Fox News. According to The Guardian, Delaware Supreme Court Judge Eric David in June ruled that Dominion Voting Systems could proceed with its defamation lawsuit against Fox News and its parent company, Fox Corporation. The lawsuit is a legal pushback against Fox News' reporting and perpetuation of voter fraud and election misinformation following the 2020 presidential election. Per The Guardian, David determined "that it was a reasonable inference that Murdoch and son Lachlan either knew outright that Dominion had not manipulated the election or 'recklessly disregarded the truth' when Fox disseminated lies initially launched by Donald Trump." Speaking to The Guardian, a number of legal experts have offered their perspective on the case and why it suggests trouble ahead of Fox News. Ciara Torres-Spelliscy, a Stetson University constitutional law professor and fellow at the Brennan Center for Justice, weighed in on Dominion's case as she noted that the voting technology company appears to have a substantial argument. “Dominion has a very strong case against Fox News,” Torres-Spelliscy said to the news outlet, adding that "all of the 'conspiracy theories about Dominion’s machines were just pure bunk,'" She also noted that "Fox as a news organization should have known that and not given this aspect of [Trump’s] ‘big lie’ a megaphone.” “I think once you start to pull the discovery material, what you’re going to find is there was a lot of communication between the Trump people both internally and externally about pushing very specific lies and narratives,” said Media Matters for America chief executive, Angelo Carusone. https://www.alternet.org/2022/07/election-lawsuit-fox-news/ However, Fox News is confident that it will survive this legal battle.
  3. Will be interesting to see if there will be a QB airlift into Hamilton. Evans may have looked good at times but he looks defeated.
  4. He neglected to mention that Democrats and left-wingers eat puppies and babies.
  5. Absolutely! No doubt it will get better as the O-line gets in sync with each other, but we definitely need a deep threat and better playcalling/execution on our passing game.
  6. As much as the commentators were hyping the Argos, I have little doubt that Harris would have powered in for the 2 points. He was driving up the middle for 4-5 yards every time he had the ball all the second half. The defence really won the game for the Blue, but they also had a good helping of luck that Bede missed what ought to have been an automatic and then there was that weird, infuriating "TD" that I will go to my grave disputing.
  7. These idiots (GOP politicians) need a theme song- something along the lines of "We Don't Talk About Bruno/guns/killings/neo-nazis/ militant churches/racism)"
  8. There are good strategic reasons for the West to continue supporting Ukraine. Should Putin's gamble pay off for him, his advisors have already begun saying how poorly ethnic Russians in Moldova, Estonia, Latvia and other places are being treated and that they need to be rescued. This is not idle talk and even the Poles. Bulgarians and Romanians are worried. From credible reports, as much as 80% of Russian military equipment and well over 100,000 troops are disabled and this is good news, but Putin is monomaniacal about pursuing his imperial objectives regardless of the cost.
  9. Brad Wall is adored by the conservatives because he is one of the few elected leaders who have not covered themselves with excrement before they retired, so he is the shining ideal. This knowledge, if widely disseminated, ought to take some of the shine off him. Well that was both inevitable and predicted starting with the "free man in the land/ sovereign citizen" ideology that first presented itself some 25 years ago and culminated with the "Queen of Canda"- Romana Didulo. There is absolutely zero legal basis for any of this but some choose to believe what they wish, even it is a fantasy.
  10. The Russians under Putin have been chipping away at Ukraine for decades with the aim of reducing it to a rump state, which would have to depend on Russia and eventually become a province. Had they stopped at Donetsk and Crimea, they might have gotten away with it, but greed and arrogance has led Putin to try for a much larger grab. With all the new military equipment flooding into Ukraine, and the demoralized state of the Russian military, Ukraine has a good chance of regaining the lost territory. There is good evidence that Putin in unwell- cancer or Parkinson's and his death would change everything. The Russian oligarchs are really chafing at the restrictions and losses they are forced to undergo and will take that for only so long.
  11. The net effect of his quickness and elusiveness was still little better than Oliveira or Augustine. The logical conclusion is that the O-line has to do better, With the opposition not respecting the running game, the linebackers can drop into coverage and disrupt the the only passing game have- the short and medium passes. So the offence suffers.
  12. McRae was better than our homebrew RBs but not by much. The problem lies elsewhere.
  13. But the Bomber offence could not consistently take advantage of what was apparently seen by Buck. So the offence wasn't clueless but helpless?
  14. Would probably need a faith healer to raise the dead.
  15. Bombers are gonna have to see a proctologist to get that horseshoe removed.
  16. Bombers richly deserve this outcome.
  17. MBT has outplayed Collaros this half.
  18. Starting to think we need a deep threat, and soon. Is Agudosi the answer?
  19. Seems to me that Oliveira is running harder now.
  20. Still no holes for Oliveira
  21. Its been said before in this thread, but we are gonna get KILLED by the Lions next game. Neither the defence nor the offence are shining.
  22. #8 for the Argos is making quite a name for himself- you could say he is becoming famous.
  23. Lordy, but that play was telegraphed.
  24. I think the jury is still out on that.
