  1. That and the fact he was royally robbed of a 3rd straight Most Outstanding Olineman award this year...but totally proved he was in Grey Cup against the "winner" What a joke that award was not going to Bryant
  2. as will whatever QB is starting for us...thats a major draw in attracting one if we go away from Nichols
  3. Told you all to chill and that this was just a matter of announcing...this was basically done around christmas....so our entire line is back...with backups from our playoff and end of year run....we laughing
  4. Pierce if the OC will continue on with what we have been doing somewhat..but he will put his own stamp/signature on the offence and I believe he will have a more aggressive approach than Lapo...he's not gonna want to be viewed as a Lapo clone..nor have any success basically attributed to a "Lapp" offence...he will want to own any success and or failures
  5. Yeah we lost some solid guys..but as we see as of now we have some depth to cover it. I dont expect Sayles back for a few yrs..if ever but I think Jones will take his spot and we wont really miss a beat I could see Rose back before Sayles..he doesnt offer as much on teams as Sayles and he is pretty slight of frame for a prototypical NFL corner.. If we find a diamond and our land one of the free agents available this yr..we will be just fine
  6. Those games tho had 3 guys in the secondary that were replaced in the last 3rd of season...and were a big reason for the defense coming together
  7. His stats and use though as either were pretty much non-existent...was worked in practice as a TE/FB/WR and QB but a lot of that was him wanting to get reps and help on scout teams as much as possible...to try and get some field time...I think his Minnesota years accounted for 1 reception..and 2 or 3 rushes....and coming from a point of being there done that...the drop off in talent and skill in most NCAA programs from starters, to back ups in most spots is generally quite big...to the point many are there as bodies to fill out rosters, but rarely touch the field..and some never dress...sure back-ups get used but they are not top shelf talents by any stretch
  8. That Red River program churns out a plethora of elite football guys...damn shame that recruiting scandal has sanctioned them though...pity lol
  9. exactly...most there prob only have seen 2....and it's funny because they yap alot about majority of Bomber fans having never witnessed a Grey Cup win.....further confirming that math skills...and overall intelligence out that way has avoided more than a few people
  10. Longer posts are ok if they have substance and a purpose..and aren't just a delusional rant I had no issue with the post in question.. agreed pretty much with it for most part and it was factual and well thought out..unlike some nonsense we see on forums Thanks for the props by the way..sometimes I tend to rant and get long winded but usually comes from a place I've been or seen..or still have some connections with/to And some are in response to posts that irk and piss me off which come from places people have no clue about..no experience in..and generally are thier own agenda...
  11. Conceivably he could...but if he wants to develop as a true QB....Like he has mentioned, and gets a decent deal up here in a QB1B range salary wise, he would develop more...most likely make more than the minimum PR salary in NFL (if you are on it for full season is 136k)...which equates to about 175k Canadian....many times too an NFL team drops pr guys for a week or 2...puts them back on...so you aren't even guaranteed the full season amount....he would toil in obscurity, with little fanfare adoration, where in Canada would be front and center and considewred a rock star...
  12. Dime a dozen athletes with his measureable...I have already stated his passing stats his senior year..they are top notch...but he won't be viewed there as a number 1 guy to compete...most likely a 3rd and never dressed, and if he is to make it doing other things..teams...te..fullback...there are far better choices to choose from where guys have been doing elusively that...for years and years..Strev hasn't and for all his phenomenal attributes, being signed and groomed as a QB option there are gonna be slim...bordering on none... And yeah...he will have to find the perfect situation with a team willing and wanting to run gimicks...and have a supporting cast now to allow for it...and again...those spots are pretty far and few between
  13. as a receiver also he had one career catch at Minnesota...not like he was rip roaring through defences there catching the ball...Woli was the guy there doing damage...and we have him locked up
  14. ACtually Strev is not 230....he is about 220 on a heavy day...and doesnt run a sub 4,40...his make up is a dime a dozen in the U.S....And many are slightly more polished...even the ones coming out of top NCAA programs even though Strev has 2 years of pro experience...he may get a sniff....but be hard pressed to make an active roster there and doubt wants to bounce around on PR's...he has already said that He also has never played teams...and sure he can learn but why would a team roster him for that and have him learn on the fly, and not be very proficient at it when they have umpteen other prospects to choose from who can do it..and do it well
  15. From what I know Chris really wanted to put the time and effort into becoming a top starter a a QB and was more than happy to have a long CFL career doing so, and had no interest/intent of bouncing around in NFL camps...on and off PR's Possibly this has changed, but I doubt it, and if he plays his cards right and further develops in Canada he can parlay that, even this year in contract money that would equal, and likely surpass what he would get as a PR guy down there, as that is what most likely he will be this year, and basically have minimal reps/opportunity to grow his QB skills in the NFL....I think also he needs to fight the right situation for what he offers, which isn't a big thing there yet...he's be getting beat up a heck of a lot more there trying to earn his keep than he would in Winnipeg as the quarter back 1b
  16. Some may even be let go before main camp even starts as well..teams have a long time to adjust rosters and sign and resign guys before camp even starts
  17. To be honest a secondary role as QB coach won't have much extra work load on him..a lot of the positional coach job's in general aren't very taxing at this point in a players career...
  18. always yapping...even when getting beat and burned...also was one of thier lynch pins always trying to start **** pre-game in warmups at the 55 yard line..total assbagg If he would have got to free agency and we signed him I woulda puked
  19. Marshall is your average cornerback in the league...decent but not shut down like Rider fans like to think...plus takes stupid penalties and is a me first guy before being a total teamate..keeping him, or losing him would have had the same net result there...Moncrief loss though is a ouch for them...they gonna miss him
  20. Totally agree...Prospects coming out of an NCAA program leaps and bounds better than their CIS counter parts, mainly due to playing since 5 (pop warner) much like a Canadian kid playing hockey, better coaching and facilities, better competition and better support right through from highschool to College Graduation...those extra 5-10 years of exposure as a kid/college athlete is huuuuge. I participated in several levels, both side of boarder and I can attest...its not even close other than the rare athlete in a CIS program every now and then who may be at par.. No worries, maybe as a raw rookie perhaps, but was at a different time where positions were largely dictated by Nationality for most part, so hard to gauge..also coming from an NCAA program then also gave you a leg up and a bit of advantage as the perception was you were better than your Canadian conterparts trained in Canada, and "similar" to your American competition, but even then the gap was noticeable My ace in whole was I could long snap and took reps in games on offence as full back/te as well as Linebacker throughout my days
  21. I don't get the public's clamoring or whining/longing for a Canadian QB...Personally I could care less, and I would never want an inferior player playing just because of ratio..we have enough of that already. I like the game for the game itself, not because it gives a Canadian a chance to play further after college...sure it's nice, but doesn't sell the game for me. Too many times a good player is sent packing to have a roster of guys ..many of whom wouldn't even get starting sniffs in Div 1 NCAA even tho being a "pro"...that's just the facts Further to that they should have had a provision years ago that a player (import) with a total of 4 consecutive years with same team can become a National, help with team continuity, reward an import for loyalty and also allow them to have more earning power...thats my take on that...and by the way..I am a Canadian former ball player...I want to see the best players available playing within reason and within a ratio...but i would not shed a tear to see the number of true Nationals starting lowered...a lot of talent has walked awy, or refused to come here in the past cause players talk amoung themselves and many Imports have been deterred from coming up after talking to guys who told them not to waste time because they prob get cut so team can keep an inferior Canadian.."cause thats what they do up there"....
  22. Prior to a game you can declare 10 National starters...7 of which are the standard true nationals, but the 3 others who meet the requirements can be added as Nationals and sub in freely in the injury situation..
  23. Hopefully if and when Strev is back they do focus more on things with him as a true QB (which he is more than capable enough of) and shelve the gimmicky crap Lapo had him doing. Let him be a QB who can torch you with his legs if need be when th pocket breaks down and or nothing is there as well as designed runs and option stuff...but build the basis of the offence around a normal game plan....you do this, and let him grow, with his run threat there, he could become lethal
  24. I'm not sure anymore..too many changes..tweeks, misinterpretations...can't keep track
  25. my interpretation is that as well..you have to have at least 2...3 is "not" required as it used to be, so that spot can be used for whatever. But you can use it as a 3rd if you want to..some team will..some will take advantage of that spot and dress a different player they may not have been able to roster before. If the Bombers are smart now, and Streveler is back they should designate him as something else, but say he is the "3rd stringer" technically, and then can play him whenever they choose with another QB on the field, or use him as QB2...Nowhere in the rules say that if your QB1 goes down you have to use your QB2...you could put in whoever you want technically...would be dumb as hell but not against the rules
