  1. yeah...should come in and give us more than Hansen did at his best right from the get go...Hansen was as raw as raw could be....Physicality and athleticism and willingness to work and learn got him to where he became a real good rotation guy and demon on teams Bailey is coming in with 5 yrs of the best traiing and experience you can get outside of pro...he will be doing stuff defensively day one that Hansen had to learn as a newbie.. the dime he dropped into JA in the banjo bowl baiting guys into biting on a QB draw....Tha game alone was a good synopsis of what he can do playing QB...Making throws...running where it opened up along with designed runs....and was a crusie to victory...set him up to succeed...and the player he is...grit..heart...smarts and leadership traits and guys willing to ball out for him...I wouldnt be worried about success
  2. Neg lists for most part are a wish list...with a few possibilities sprinkled in
  3. @Noeller not too sure in your bean pod what is so funny about that...but whatever...I'll remember to laugh at your first of many the sky is falling rants...
  4. couple other teams reached out to him as well....but he was on our neg. Also a 5 yr trained player in the NCAA is far more ready and skilled to play in the CFL in his first yr than a 4 yr CIS kid...so him displacing a bottom end Canadian is a certainty...even a mid level Canadian to be honest and he likely will be a guy who can take defensive reps and not hurt you there too as opposed to being on roster soley for ST's Ws part of reason why letting Lawler go and "banking" on Schoen even being ready...let alone to where he was at before injury was a big risk ...If we truly wanted to keep Lawler we could have....there are several salaries on our roster we could have expelled and moved money that we wouldmt have missed in the least...My feeling is tho they airing on the side of caution....which in itself again reeks of country club TC attitude ...again.....
  5. Yup...love his mindset and looking forward to what he brings He was a prospect several teams had on their radar before he became global eligible...may be a major score for us
  6. and he did here too...and nice intermediate shots too....Grey cup TD.....Augustine shot in BB when he sucked defence in with a fake run....off top my head....also run his college game film...many many beauty passes...and a lot of huge runs because teams had to respect the pass.....as mentioned here many times..Lapo-Buck once it became obvious he could run and make hay with his legs...when opportunity called for it...almost ruined him...and definitely stunted his progression Also what QB of recent memory up here lingered as long as he did in the NFL...Actually on a roster and getting play time?....There is a reason for it and NFL pratcices..as well as assessing a guy is wayyyy more intense and productive as it is up here....You dont stick around....and they definitely dont keep around a player....especially a QB who lacks in any aspect of their position...they just dont....you get chewed up and spat out in short order...An engaged....fully utilzed and integrated Streveler along with whatever ZC has left in him is our best shot at Cup #3 in 6 yrs I'm almost in the camp now with a few things I have gleened that the changeover with coaching and OC here may actually bring a bit of a renaissance with ZC as well.....we shall see
  7. has to take them when they are there...and/or if defence is cheating up....If he is allowed to run a diversified spread style offence...non-telegraphed play action/RPO stuff and moves the pocket to give threat of taking off...he will be just fine taking whats there and things will open up....Why Buck never did that was beyond me
  8. Or any combination of play actions...roll outs....sprint outs...and just standing in pocket until he "needs" to run....
  9. and actually allows Strev to take reps and ownership of the actual offence and schemes...mind you if he wasn't assured that he wouldn't have signed anyway....but this is a positive thing anyway you slice it
  10. If an in game replacement for injury...be it 3 reps...or the whole 23....it's just fine and dandy....and depending on when injury happened could be a non issue.....if it more than 23 reps...well you use Logan and whatever Canadian back-up on roster...likely Peterson accordingly....other teams use it and benefit by it be it all 23 snaps...or a number under...as we should
  11. depends on how we shape the roster...he doesnt have to be a DA DEPTH Behind Demski is horrid...hope he stays healthy
  12. Thats why I hope we are able to only designate 5 for offence and then Logan can come in freely...even with BO on the field Ace in hole in my opinion is Makonzo...legit National Talent, as well as Jaylen Smith and Shay now...all 3 are gonna be able to come in and take reps where we used a DA last yr....so it's gonna give us a lot of rotational flexability....even more so if Bailey is legit...so designating 2 Nationals on defence should be a slam dunk and if we choose to go 3 import on Oline then BO...Demski...Clercius and 2 oline guys have that easily covered but with Eli..Wallace in house I cant see us having to go that route...Camp gonna be interesting as how they work things
  13. we prob win 5 cups with what you said that I bolded and replace OL with coaching Bailey was actually persued by several teams before he was found out to be an eligible Global...so that trade up for him was a wise move and he will add more value most likely than any Canadian at bottom of roster. Pass protection wasn't necessarily our demise...poor scheme and coaching and playing with crippled players had more impact. With that Peterson we traded for along with Logan...we more than capable of backing BO up especially if we only designate 5 Nationals need to be used on Offence as opposed to 6...as well if we actually designate and use a Nationlized American on offence....with the amount of guys we now have to switch in and out on defence....going 2 nationals on defence and designating Stanley as the Nationalized player makes uber sense
  14. I can't see Gowanlock or Laing getting defensive reps ahead of or in lieu of Bailey...Laing may be hard pressed to make roster this yr but is a great PR guy to see if he develops..he may just turn the corner with professional coaching and environment If Bailey is what many think...and ceiling is high ...then him on roster over say a Schmeck...Thomas...Gowanlok...that's a major win in my eyes...and i think 3 import olinemen is a last resort..and would overall make us weaker
  15. Solid pick...gonna pan out to be the best pick in my opinion...he's perfectly suited for what we wanna do here and is multi-use...A Canadian version of what Cole did for us without the DA tag...so hopefully it enables us to bulk up that damn dline with 3 solid interior guys...the Global guy as well if he is what many think will also allow us to use a DA elsewhere....no reason Woods..Adams...hopefully Person and or any newbie who flies off the page in camp cant all be rostered, Gimme a WJ/Vauters/Lawson/Woods/Adams/Person/Bailey rotation anyday....and if another rookie makes a case to be on roster then even better....I know they think Jake is this perennial stud...but we have no need and really no room/use...If they want to roster a second National DT....To insert him over even Schmeck or another promising rookie is just foolish and a waste...You dont sacrifice youth and upside for an old vet who lost his usefulness 3 yrs ago already....just plain dumb We have Kramdi..Makonzo...Shay..Smith...Kelly...Hallett...Hagerty....pretty sure we have the ability to put any 2 of those guys on the field at any given yime in lieu of a DT to make ratio if we choose to play 2 on defence...youth...athleticism and ability should trump loyalty to old dead weight
  16. The having to be in Regina..prob scarred him for life ever wanting to come back to canada
  17. Yeah..the fact they basically made a spot to retain him speaks volumes...it's pretty rare actually From all accounts his character and respect has followed him into coaching ranks.. he'd be a good get as a coach back in tge CFL
  18. Yeah....smart move is to have one new guy on the PR but I'd be shocked if Our 3 to start are not Collaros...Streveler and Wilson Strev being on a 1 yr deal...ZC on his last yr...and in my opinion last legs as a legit guy to tie your wagon to past this seaon I would assume Strev gets a lot of opportunity and packages to prove he can be the guy moving forward...and rightfully so....Has experience...has shown he can win games (If used as a QB) and has leadership and respect of the room...Wilson is right now in the Dru Brown scenario developing and has in my opinion more upside and a better skill-set...In his rookie season you could see the poise and pocket presence...the arm....and is more mobile....Looked way more adbanced and polished than Dru looked....so not forcing him....and letting him develop and learn another yr running short yardage is the right/smart move. Big E obviously is a work in progress/project...and rightly so...there is a reason why you rarely see a Canadian QB step in right away and look legit who hasn't been playing 3..4 yrs of College ball in the U.S as well in most cases U.S Prep school even before that....just aint happening as they so far beneath the curve right outta school it's not even close Before anyone throws out Ford as an example...he basically did diddly other than some sandlot stuff that had a bit of success...but isnt sustainable and jury is out if he can even ever advance past that....the film we have seen as a true QB is pretty suspect and he looked way out of his comfort zone...Big yr for him to see if he develops/advances...or even maintains the starters gig
  19. heck we still have a couple on our current squad...I'd have kept JA over 3 we still have
  20. and was behind Harris before that....was a solid guy in the end....and didnt hurt you when he needed to step in....how that would projected as the bell cow...who knows....but guy was nowhere near being a bust by any stretch....he was a complimentary piece on a team outside the starting 12 on offence like 2/3rds of every other teams roster
  21. U think thats how it works?...Then he gets labeled a bad actor...same reason why u never heard a player(s) publicly speak out against not getting dline reps in lieu of inferior teamates....thats a ticket out the door especially with a coach who is loyal to his fav's to a fault Strev did that inquiring you mentioned tho before he signed this off-season...And I know as 100 percent certainty that if he didnt get the assurance and commitment that he is gonna be able to compete as a actual QB he wasnt signing here Dru Brown also wasn't sho horned into what they made Strev do...Flip the roles around...and you would all be asking...who's Dru Brown??....Yet Strev even with all the misuse...and abuse...is still relevant...Dru Brown had an alright season in Ottawa...not earth shattering by any means and looked better here than he did there...was he a benefactor of his environment...guess we shall see how he does in 2025...same with Strev if afforded the chance to play QB like he was promised Yeah I think both were insurance with not knowing if Strev be ready....that being said if they keep one...I think Dolegala wou;d have been the better one to keep tho... Buck didnt know how to use half his assets...One the bigger signings is Jarius...even tho not the O.C he definitely knows how to utilize players, and am sure he will have a big input in the playbook and game day offensive quality control...and I bet we see lotsa Logan....and Demski back to being more diversified...Can see Clercius being an important piece too
  22. Part of their ignorance in obtaining best talent too in this perception that only a certain type of person fits the bill...talent is talent ...are they all choir boys...no...but as long as it's not something socially unacceptable and bypassing a guy is just foolish...if your culture is what you profess it will sort itself out...that thinking then should Harris have not been cut then?? And after the fact..watching his production...physical appearance and quick body break down...he was in my opinion using something...and as a strength and conditioning coach I know as a fact there are tons of guys on various things ...throughout the cfl ..ncaa and nfl...it's never going away
  23. You can't gain anything from that observation based on what we gave him to work with...scheme...and not running anything in practice in that BB... Lots of games last yr as well ZC accomplished nothing other than giving ball away...and that was an offence tailored to him...and taking all the reps Drew brown looked like hot garbage a lot in the beginning but was allowed to grow as an actual QB..Strev was never afforded that here...ever Cherry picking one game when have no clue whatsoever of what all the circumstances involved were proves nothing..and was pretty obvious all yr..last 2 really that we couldn't make any adjustments on the fly or in game for the most part it our life depended on it...or how to best use our personelle He was only a SY specialist here in his late part of first tenure and the idiotic role we had him play last yr...if Brown was all that and a sac of plums he'd have been on a 4 yr nfl journey ...was he? Strev was failed by Bomber coaching...plain and simple...almost ruined Getting looks...or no looks in NFL at times is an odd experience.. some is political..some is black listed...some is just pass the visual "appeaeance" Lenius..KSB and that wr from last yr wave and say hi If a QB gets significant preseason play..gets on roster and in actual games...and bounces around for 4 yrs...there is a reason for it...especially a CFL detector as sadly they are victims of politics and bias' moreso than any other positional player who was in Canada first...
  24. yup....allow him to get his stuff in order....put in the legit work and come back with a nice chip on his shoulder to prove himself...I wish we had went with him....
