  1. Grab Marc Trestman as HC and Dave **** as OC.

Now saddle them with the "talent" and "depth" Walters has provided -- Marve/Brohm, Bucknor at DB, our O-line, etc.

We'd have more wins, yes (purging MB will do that) but we wouldn't be the Stamps or Ticats.

You can't expect any HC to just shazam this squad of also-rans into a winning club -- especially once the starters go down .

  2. So we just make excuses for other head coaches who failed? You know what a common theme in head coaches not working out is? Not getting help from the GM. Hell a big reason Benevides was canned is cause Wally is losing his touch. We see it with his team this year. So let's address the real issue with the Bombers, a team that doesn't have enough talent, before we throw the head coach to the sidelines. Walters needs to get his **** together cause a lot of the problems on this team stem from a complete and total lack of depth.

Totally agree. I was never a fan of MOS as a player but you can tell by his time as a coach in TO that he can coach and knows the game very well. But in TO he had some very athletic players.

Thanks to Walters, he has a lousy lineup with atrocious depth. So he's burning out.

Same thing happened with LAPO here. Lame GM (Mack) kept feeding him garbage players and he's supposed to make chicken salad out of it.

I absolutely guarantee -- if MOS was in Sask with their old, poorly built Taman team he would suck there too. But put him in Hammer or Calgary and he'd have a winning record.

  3. The problems with this team begin way higher than MB or even MOS.

    We have no damn players!

While it's clear Walters has to go (and perhaps he's plotting his exit as we speak), Miller should also be put on watch.

He hired his buddies, lied about the "exhaustive search for a GM," and now we have horrible depth and aren't even competitive.

I am not the "fire everyone" type, but in my mind the order of axing should be:

    - Marcel

    - Walters

    - Miller

    - MOS

Would like to see what MOS could do with a talented group of players before I call him a total bust.

    The other guys above? DUDS.

  4. Ride out the season with this cast of clowns til we're mathematically toast, maybe see what Mr. Clemson QB and some other guys can do in some garbage time scenarios.

November 1st, send Walters packing (he has NOT been good enough) along with MB. Let Hall know he's free to look for work elsewhere.

Then put all emphasis on landing a solid GM (Murphy would be #1) and let him decided MOS' fate.

That article was hilarious. Yeah i'm just going to go up to Canada, be the next Warren Moon, win every game by 3 touchdowns, win the league championship and then those NFL guys will beg me to come back. Said almost every American QB ever. Anyway, wish this kid a lot of luck, but it sounds like a reality is going to be a MF'er.

It wasnt boyd that hyped it as easy and truthfully, his coach was just pumping him up.. Not sure why so much angst about what was said..

It wasnt like Boyd was saying "imma come down there, kick willy and nichols off the depth chart and dominate until the nfl comes a callin.."

I don't get the angst either. His old coach was simply telling him what he could do, not what he will do. Coaches are supposed to be motivators and telling a guy "hey, it's a pay cheque" is pretty half-assed motivation.

Hey, works for Tim Burke and Fat Greg Marshall.

  6.

Beat the Lions and Als and you may not need to win any other games depending on what those teams do. Remember the Als would have to cross over and would need to flat out beat the Bombers record, doable but not guaranteed. If they beat the Lions as well then Winnipeg would hold the tie breaker over them and they too would need to flat out beat the Bombers record. Possible but not a given. If the Bombers only get to 6 wins those other teams need to get to 7 (or 6 plus a tie) Really the most basic thing you can do to make the playoffs is beat the teams you should beat and keep them behind you. The Bombers at this moment have a chance to do that. They wouldn't be the first team to make the playoffs below .500. BC has qb and coach issues, so does Montreal, I don't know how you give them the advantage if Winnipeg manages to beat them.

I think most of us will not soon forget a certain 8-10 Calgary team from 2001...

Lets put Dave Donaldson on Marc Boerighter, they said. DD is a local boy and really improving, they said.

I really think MOS has what it takes. Get the impression he knows a lot more than he lets on in the media.

He knows what the team is lacking. Set him up with a decent squad and capably OC and he'd be fine.

His mistake was picking MB as his OC.

I would can MB today and Walters at year end. Get a real OC and someone who can find players like John Murphy. Then see what MOS can do.

I can see what the team is lacking and with zero coaching experience I can see that Brohm does not have it. But alas lets blame Walters for not putting in Nicholls and starting Brohm.

Yes lets all blame MOS for not starting a guy who hasn't even arrived yet. And yeah, it's MOS fault he has to try to make chicken salad out of chicken sheet.

Guy was a hell of a bird dog tho. Found some of the best Imp talent that clubs ever seen. Combine that with Walters work at the draft.....problem again tho is trading picks so we have nothing to draft with.

BS he was a hell of a bird dog. You want a hell of a bird dog, Murphy, Tillman, Paul Jones.

I really, really hope SK signs Tillman so we can go after Murphy in a years time.

  10. Guy was a hell of a bird dog tho. Found some of the best Imp talent that clubs ever seen. Combine that with Walters work at the draft.....problem again tho is trading picks so we have nothing to draft with.

Did he? That was what, 15 years ago? Then what did he do in SK?

There was a rumor that much of his highly regarded "birddogging" with the Bombers was simply following up leads (Ryland Wickman introduced him to Charles Roberts) and of course, Dave Ritchie.

    The guy is done.

  11. Strong chance Taman will be our GM as early as mid-next season.

Source? None. Just years of watching this regime make lateral moves. And Taman is still a media fan boy around here.

You wait, it will be "Taman will have to accept a full time scouting dep't and assistance in the draft. Club is considering talking to Duane Forde for that role." (Forde doesn't return call).

  12.

Hopefully we wise up and start to lean on, and use Marshall in an effective manner. The guy is a beast and the type of back who with the more work he gets in game, the more he will produce. Powerful runner and he literally pounds the defence and wears them down. Have yo ever seen him go down on first contact? He reminds me a lot of Willard Reaves on his style of play, and come cold weather and late in season when defences are getting nicked and worn down he will be extremely effective. Totally under utilized this year, and especially as a receiving threat.

Get him in open space with room to start thundering downhill...Christ silly we haven't done that more. The times we have it's been money.

Walker, not a feature back by any means, but if used right, swings, pitchouts, screens, he can be very effective. Guy has speed to burn and could add a dimension out of backfield we don't have right now.

Maybe the being cut and the embarrassment will light a fire under him. The first few years in Hamilton when he was used right Walker was pretty good

I'm not sure I totally agree with you about Walker being good in Hamilton. Guy is fast there's no doubt about that, but he's also a ***** who can't do anything if he doesn't have miles of space. There's a reason he wasn't protected in the expansion draft. Just not a football player. You got a track team then that's another story. Runningbacks are just such a dime a dozen position, why in gods name is Walters always signing retreads and wash outs?

Because Walters is simply not an effective GM.

Clearly, MB told Oshea to bring in a guy like Walker. So Oshea told Walters to bring in a guy like Walker.

    SO Walters brought in Walker.

  13. The timing couldn't be worse for the Blue.

With a fresh coaching change -- and moving to a players coach like Dyce no less -- the Bombers are now going into a buzzsaw.

This will be a blow out of Tim Burkean proportions.

55-6 or something. Count on it.

The Banjo Bowl will be closer but I still see the Riders winning.
