Sankey is over rated and I would rather be have T.Jones. However, I want to see this year's camp to have some proven CFL talent challenging incumbents at every position groups. We don't play rookies unless they stand out, and that is only OK if you mix rookies with CFL proven talent to challenge at camp. Having 24 starters, a handful of 2nd year players, all rookies cannot be feasible if your organization likes to slow roll rookies. Also, the CFL talent has to be correctly identified. We saw maybe some of the worst GMing in Bomber history in our FA signings last year. Just atrocious.

KW is responsible for who comes to camp. 100% on him. Terrible GMing last offseason. He needs a big offseason this year.

The SMS didn't go up last year according to Walters. No announcement for this coming year yet either. The CFLPA ultimately decides how this new money is spent, whether it is salary or not is unknown. Last year the extra 462k went directly to improved benefits etc. None to increased salary to players No there really is not. Supply and demand dictate salary not number of touches. Business 101

Would be nice but improbable given some of the contract numbers we have already. Unless we shed some salary elsewhere of course. BO was a gross overpay, ZC was already one, and if Kramdi gets what he got last year we are going to be in tough to not only sign talent but to retain what we already have. Unless, the SMS is up of course.

As it should be, maybe even to a far greater extent. We spent well below the SMS last year by my math so spending it now is the least he could do. Heard via the grape vine that Thomas is likely to retire. Take it with a grain of salt, but a friend of mine connected to the Bomber's training staff seems pretty convinced he's hanging them up. Hope for the best on that one.

Hanging onto aging vets kills our game day roster, bad contracts kill our overall roster. SMS mismanagement will kill a team faster than anything. Gauthier, Hallett, did zero damage to our roster. Do they need to be replaced? Yea probably but they were STs toiling at near league mins. The only time they impacted us negatively was when we were forced to start them. Jefferson at 200k is another huge overpay. Good teams can't overpay like this. We have a million dollars standing in two spots behind centre, that is not good SMS management.

I did not know Tyson Philpot was a RB. You are comparing apples to oranges. Might as well have said that Rourke makes 800k so BO's contract is a bargain.

Brady signing is a terrible albatross boat anchor of a contract. I hate the $ and length. Putrid. On the bright side I am happy to have Brady here and that this almost definitely means Hogan is out. If the contract is one third marketing money, or the SmS jumps by 30%, I can live with it, so I reserve the right to walk this back if that is the case. My issue is solely $ and a tiny bit length of contract (if there is guaranteed year 3 $) As it stands right now tho I don't believe this is a good contract. Love the player, hate the terms.

Not sure what the NFL per diem and payscale is for PR but I do know that restricting our NAT rookies to 80k a year for their first 3 years is just about the stupidest thing ever. Guys signing futures contracts might as well not sign anything. There is no bonus, no commitment from the NFL team, and very little chance of making the squad.

What if those were the best players? Whose fault then? I'll take about 10 of those seasons any day of the week. We've done a hell of a lot more right than wrong in the last decade. Just gotta get back to that.

I think Hogan went into the Bomber file cabinet and accidentally photo copied Marcel Bellfeuille's playbook by mistake and didn't realize it until game 14 when it was too late to change.

Guys on 3 years are taking advantage of the guaranteed salary in year 3 provision of contracts that came into effect a couple years ago. It's why we couldn't cut ZC this year if we wanted to. He has 250k or something around there guaranteed. A two year contract is just as likely as a one year now if the player is established and paid market value. The one year deals will still be the norm for rookies and upcoming players. Nothing has really changed except the 3 year deals. Wilson on a 3 year deal likely has guaranteed money in year 3. If we cut him in camp this year we have to pay him whatever was guaranteed in year 3.

I am of the same opinion regarding QB. One of Perkins/Elgersma for QB3 and if we have both in camp then let them battle on the pecking order. If we only have one of them then we go after some CFL experience at QB2. I am fairly confident that will not be the case. Perkins is almost certainly destined for QB3 imo. I am highly doubtful we bring back Wilson so QB2 is TBD.

I was thoroughly disappointed in Walters performance last year as well and have been echoing the same criticisms. Even before the season began it was a no brainer that losing 3 all stars and replacing them with no one was going to hurt. It became even worse when the quasi talent brought in to replace couldn't even crack the roster or even make it out of camp in a couple cases. What happened to our receiving corps in the course of an offseason was just criminal negligence by a GM.
