  1. My source on option years? You can't possibly be serious? If you want, my source is every contract extension ever to any player entering their option year in the history of the CFL. Should be a few thousand for you to look at.
  2. This is much ado about nothing anyway, 2/3 of the NFL have expressed an interest in Rourke and he has flat out stated that he is willing to bet on himself when it comes to the NFL and doesn't care about the money. The NFL is his goal...his words..not mine. The guy is gone at least until the end of this current contract. We will never know if BC could re-sign him or not because they will not get the chance to do so. 2/3 of the NFL interested? That's almost unprecedented level of interest for a CFL player. He will get an NFL contract for sure, and he is willing to take the gamble on losing money by doing so.
  3. TBurg is confused it seems. Earlier this season the BC Lions asked if they could tear up his current SPC to pay him more this year. They were declined because the player had not hit the option year yet. Only the first two years there is no flex in salary or term, the 3rd year is an option year for both team and player. This by the very definition of the term, allows for a new contract to be worked out. I have no idea why the hell TBurg is being so thick.
  4. You are wrong on both accounts. The Lions asked to be able to terminate his SPC THIS year to pay him more, this year before he hit his option and were declined. Option year only needs to be negotiated if the team chooses to pick up the option. If they do not, they can release him and re-sign him to a contract of their choosing but risk losing him to another team should Rourke decide to pull a fast one. You keep thinking that the option year is mandatory and it IS NOT. Please do us all a favor and look up what an option year is. You keep arguing that it is the only way Rourke plays with BC next year. It is not. The option year simply gives BC a team option to hold him to his rookie contract should they choose to do so.
  5. When they come calling you gotta take your shot. No doubt about it. Rourke could end up being Jon Jennings after another year in the CFL for all we know. If he legitimately wants to take a shot at the NFL, now is the time to do it. He is 24, he has many, many years to fall back on the CFL if necessary. NFL interest in him is unlikely to ever be as high as it is right now....good luck Mr. Rourke. Not a chance. Not major ones anyway. Those aren't fields down there....they are stadiums. I was in Texas about 15 years ago on a football coaching conference and toured a few of the high school stadiums. They had 10000 seats some of them. Now they have stadiums like Eagle Stadium in Allen Texas that seat 20k+ and would rival many CFL stadiums.
  6. The only way Rourke is back for 80k next year is if he has the dumbest agent of all time, or he himself is the dumbest guy of all time and chooses to do so. I don't think TBurg has even the smallest inkling of understanding about what an option year is. Yes, the team could force him to come back for 80k next year if they are monumental idiots and are prepared to almost certainly lose him to even the flimsiest NFL opportunity. Will they? I doubt it very highly. They work out terms for a new contract, then BC doesn't exercise it's option on the 3rd year and 5 minutes later sign him to a shiny new deal in free agency. Literally happens all the time with many players. You can't do it in the first 2 years of a draft pick rookie contract because it is the standard player agreement portion of the contract, but the whole reason they made the 3rd year an option year is so that teams didn't lose 3rd year NATS because of a wonky pay scale. It allows the team flex to renegotiate if they want to do so.
  7. I would never cheer for the RIders. EVER. I would rather gouge my own eyes out. If it came down to the scenario where the Riders were playing against Toronto here in Winnipeg for the Cup, I would attend and cheer for no one and just soak up the Grey Cup atmosphere. Spend a few bucks at the Rum Hut, hope for a good halftime show, and just more or less not pay much attention to the game. Visit with fellow season ticket holders etc. I would suspect that many of the Rider fans at the game in Regina will feel the same as I do. Revel in the Grey Cup atmosphere and cheer for good football from both teams. I don't suspect that many of the Rider fans will be overly invested in the game one way or another.
  8. Hilarious, Migs started his 2nd thread in as many days about how much he hates the Bombers and their fans. Probably because we bring facts to counter his fiction.
  9. In fairness, one of those interceptions...a pick 6 no less...was not an interception.
  10. Ridiculous. Cheapest I could find was 600 a night. I didn't try too hard after the first 4 hotels.
  11. I was bitten once by the miserable experience of a Regina Grey Cup..too bad they don't do it like they host the LDC. Just extraordinarily bad gouging at every business in town, and just lack of infrastructure makes what little they do have too difficult to attain. Sad but true..a city of 250k simply cannot handle that level of tourism.
  12. Was looking for tickets and hotel at a reasonable price. Gave myself a drop dead date of today at 6 pm. Guess I'm not going. My heart was not really in it due to the weakness of the halftime act and the fact I went to the last 2 Grey Cups coupled with the abomination of an experience I had last Regina Grey Cup. Pivoting and hosting a Bomber bash instead..half time show will be either be YouTube Tom Petty or Prince Superbowl performance. CHEERS and cheer loud to all who attend!
  13. Wants to see if Rourke goes to the NFL and if BC has any interest in him. Hamilton and the Riders will offer him the most money, but he stated he is looking for a championship and to cement his legacy. Rules the Riders out, as they are a tire fire. Hamilton may still persuade him though. If Rourke is gone, I could definitely see BC making a play for him for a year.
  14. The Jeffs will make it impossible for MBT to have enough time to channel his ancestors, the cold weather will effect his ability to throw, and Harris does not scare me at all. I don't care if he is motivated or not, he is not the same RB he was a couple years ago. Besides, we will have the ball on O for most of the game. Book it...this game is not going to be close at all unless ZC does not play...even then we still win imo.
  15. Never understood the infatuation with Brink. Elliott was far superior imo.
  16. I think it signals that Rourke may know his NFL aspirations may have been reduced significantly by a poor performance in a big game. Chungh came to the realization that he chose the wrong horse when he left the Bombers. Therefore his douchiness was on full display. Used to respect the guy, but not after that. Hope he retires cup-less and broke.
  17. It's legal. We use battery operated under Armour as well
  18. Ok...but does any of that indicate that Ford wanted the Emergency Measures Act? Sounds to me like he was bogged down in bureaucracy and jurisdiction more than he demonstrated incompetence.
  19. Cut the cord years ago and stream all the games. I pay my 20 bucks a month during CFL season to TSN and then switch my membership to Crave for the remainder of the year. Used to keep TSN year round but discovered NHL66 and TSN became of no use to me for anything but CFL. Not that I am aware of, but Saturday isn't great either. You are then competing with hockey in the home market and UFC in the sports bar/restaurant venue.
  20. As a former sports bar owner I can tell you emphatically that sports bars don't make much off of the CFL regardless. Sad but true. Hockey, UFC ppv, and NFL drive the sports bar business....in Manitoba anyway. Partners such as Labatt, Molson etc don't have any CFL driven giveaways or help with the CFL to draw people in to the sports bars for CFL viewing and frankly there is a reason for that. Sports bars will carry CFL games on secondary screens for those interested, but whether the game is a Saturday or Sunday it is not a sports bar engine...with the exception of local team big games, playoffs, and Grey Cup...really 3-4 CFL games a year.
  21. No Riders in the WSF this year is the big difference in ratings.
  22. Kind of a best case scenario last night. Trump's dream of running again all but dashed, DeSantis will almost certainly get the nod, The House going to the GOP and the Senate likely to remain with the DEMS make this a win for America imo.
  23. Yea...there is no denying our O was crappy in the game. It was crappy all of that year. Our strength that season was Swaggerville, they were the reason we got there and they were the only way we were going to win that game. Blaming it on the O is just an opportunity to take a shot at Lapo in this instance. We had a team built primarily on defence and the defence let us down that game by being average.
