  1. Well at least we won't have to hear about how it's only Harper that can save Canada from the evils of the world. When our economy doesn't self destruct because Harper isn't personally running it what then? I can hear you pro cons yelling the horror the horror.I think that the smartest thing Trudeau can do is get the GST back up to 7%. That will solve any budgetary deficits for years to come. If he can show surpluses then he will dispel any myths about the Liberals being able to manage the economy. Ralph Goodale was a good finance minister in the past and I expect, if given the job again, he will be good in the future.Perhaps also a lot of this anti-Harper bitterness will fade too. Man do people hate that guy. It's like he personally went around Canada kicking everyone's dogs. I don't get it, and I guess I never will. Oh well. And posting lists of hundreds of reasons why he was so bad, mostly complete lies, won't help me understand this hatred any better, I am afraid. Can't answer for others but here is my reason. Its the abject arrogance that he shows.Setting the longest election in history so that the Cons can inundate us with ads that the other parties cannot afford.Actually believing that they are the only party that can lead this country without causing a disaster. Harper's latest add says it's not a popularity contest kids do what's best for Canada. Finally Harper knows everything about how to properly run our country but hasn't a clue what his personal aides are up to? Yeah ok.You're either very young or have a very short memory. other than "long election" you can replace "Harper" and "Conservatives" with "Cretien" and "Liberals" in your post, and you sum up their "dynasty" pretty well too.Ahh condescension you do it well unknown poster. More of an amusing remark actually. if thats condescending, you're awfully sensitive especially given all the posts you made about me this morning that were deleted. :-) Is my guess off base? You're not too young to vividly remember the Cretien liberals?

Man do people hate that guy. It's like he personally went around Canada kicking everyone's dogs. I don't get it, and I guess I never will. I understood perfectly why people hated Justin's daddy so much. He destroyed Alberta with the NEP, and over night bankrupted thousands of families, out of pure spite. That was a tangible reason to really hate that guy. Harper hasn't done anything close to something that bad. Oh well. Its a media creation. Harper isnt warm and fuzzy. Although if people took off their blinders, I find Harper to be a generally professional guy. I dont need him to hug me and hold me and tell me Im special. I've asked some of the Harper hysteria folks on FB "why" when they get so passionate and personal about Harper and the answers are generally things like "he's destroying the country" with nothing to support that I think a lot of people (not all) dont know why they hate him. I am certain the Liberals will raise the GST and I dont care about the GST so much as long as my income taxes go down. But thats a risky proposition because its such an easy play publicly. The media will have a field day over "rising taxes" and it invokes Cretien's broken promise to abolish the GST and reminds voters that the Cons kept their promise to reduce. Personally, the GST is a bit of a red herring. But the Liberals would have to be careful about raising it even if its the right thing to do.
  4. Well at least we won't have to hear about how it's only Harper that can save Canada from the evils of the world. When our economy doesn't self destruct because Harper isn't personally running it what then? I can hear you pro cons yelling the horror the horror. You're an angry fellow. Who is saying that? Who will say that? The only chicken littles are the anti Harper crowd that ten years later is still warning of secret agendas. If the Liberals win monday they take over a surplus. Pretty good time to do so.
  5. Im curious about this too. Not to mention the ABC crowd who were pro-NDP and will shortly say "so happy the Liberals won just like we always said". It generally perplexes me when people seem to be personally offended by Harper and want "anyone else" to win. And many of them cant tell you one good thing about either party. They only know they think they hate Harper and arent sure why.
  6. Well the legalization of pot would, in theory, make it easier for kids to get it. But I support decriminalization. Sort of a weird off-message thing for them to go with. I find Harper's commercials where he updates every day and addresses the camera directly to be more effective. Humanizes him though probably too late. And I wouldnt say its been a trainwreck since they were polling close to majority at one point. NDP has been a trainwreck. They just drove right off a cliff. Reminds me of that old movie Duel (which terrified me as a kid) with the NDP as the semi truck chasing down the government...relentless and scary until it drove off a cliff and exploded.
  7. Its funny that parties all make the same mistakes. They hit that 8-10 year mark and seem to believe its their right to govern and then behave accordingly. You'd think they'd learn.
  8. The nightly tracking is based on a rolling average of 1,200 voters polled on Oct 11, 13, and 14, 2015. The numbers released Oct. 15 show: the Liberals at 37.1 per cent support the Conservatives at 29.4 per cent support the NDP at 23.7 per cent support the Green Party at 4.3 per cent support the Bloc Quebecois at 5 per cent support
  9. If you are more likely to vote for Any Body but Conservative because of how an anonymous person on a sports themed forum relates to you then I respectfully call ahem bullsnot. The Conservatives take a lot of flak over the economy and rightfully so considering its generally their bread and butter. But Im at a point where Im not overly enthused about link digging on the subject since nobody is changing anyones mind at this point. But for me personally, when you consider the opposition hangs the recession on the Cons when in reality it was a global recession, that's disingenuous. They lowered taxes and brought us back to surplus. Should they have done it sooner? Sure, why not. But ultimately, if people say it was bad under the Cons, I shudder to think what it would be like under the Liberals or NDP one of whom wants to keep running deficits and the other who cannot reasonably pay for his promises without someone getting their tax jacked. But I have an agenda ;-)
  10. (CNN)Months after a convoy of pickup trucks waving large Confederate flags rumbled past a birthday party in suburban Atlanta, a grand jury has indicted members of the group on terror-related charges. The indictments charge 15 members of an organization known as Respect the Flag with violating Georgia's Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act and making terroristic threats. If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in prison Melissa Alford, who hosted the July birthday party, where many of the attendees were black, said tensions flared when the trucks drove by the home in Douglasville, Georgia. The people holding the flags were also brandishing weapons, she said. "They used the N-word and said they were going to kill people on my property," Alford told CNN affiliate WSB. Members of Respect the Flag have described the day's events differently, telling the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that someone at the party threw rocks at them, triggering the altercation. The group's leader, Levi Bush, who is among the people indicted, declined CNN's request for an interview. Other members of the group could not be reached for comment, and it was not clear whether they had legal representation. The indictment alleges that Respect the Flag is a "criminal street gang," and that members of the group threatened "to commit a crime of violence" against people at the party, "with the purpose of terrorizing those individuals and in reckless disregard for the risks of causing such terror." The prosecutor has said he won't discuss details of the case outside court. "It would be inappropriate for us to get into the facts and details of the case," Douglas County District Attorney Brian Fortner told reporters this week. "I think that's better reserved for the courtroom." The Southern Poverty Law Center, which is representing some of the people who attended the party, praised the prosecutor for pushing forward with the case. "These cowards chose unarmed African-Americans enjoying a peaceful birthday party to vent their violent racist hatred," Morris Dees, the organization's chief trial counsel, said in a written statement. "This is reminiscent of the Ku Klux Klan -- modern-day night-riders terrorizing African-Americans in the name of Southern heritage."

  12. Wait til the anti-Harper liberal voters find out Trudeau is just a less effective Harper. But at least the liberals are wasting no time in getting themselves into scandal and investigations. Picking up where they left off lol http://www.canadianprogressiveworld.com/2015/10/14/trudeaus-campaign-co-chair-invited-transcanada-to-lobby-post-harper-government-on-energy-east/ The Justin Trudeau Liberals couldn’t wait until after the 2015 federal election before inviting Big Oil to lobby the post-Stephen Harper government. The Canadian Press reports that Liberal Party’s campaign co-chair “sent a detailed email Monday to people behind the Energy East pipeline with advice on how and when to lobby a new government — including if it happened to be a Liberal minority. “In the email, Dan Gagnier tells five people at TransCanada Corp. to target the right people in a new government as quickly as possible so they can help shape either Liberal or NDP decisions on a national energy strategy.” Gagnier has since resigned “to avoid becoming a distraction to the campaign”. But he already faces possible lobbying investigation. Welcome to yet another glimpse into Big Oil’s grip on Canada’s political elite. As well, “a throwback to the dark days of Liberal scandals past.” Do you not smell the conflict of interest stench? As recently as the beginning of 2014, Gagnier was the president of the Energy Policy Institute of Canada (EPIC), the same energy industry-funded think tank Bruce Carson, Harper’s ex-adviser, illegally lobbied. Carson currently faces charges of illegal lobbying and influence peddling. RCMP alleges that EPIC benefited from Carson’ illegal lobbying.
  13. He doesn't have to be as good as he once was. Just as good once as he ever was.
  14. I was surprised they went after Kessel when the D was the issue. But it doesn't even seem they are plying a balls to the ball offensive game
  15. I think people have reasons if that's their political perspective. And I am cool with that. Its the craziness that drives me nuts.
  16. Maybe not as many as you think. The Trudeau attack ads seemed to have backfired on the Conservatives. If anything, they've helped Trudeau & made the Conservatives out to be asshats. I think people first found them amusing, then annoying & then became angry after being bombarded by them in the past 8 months. I think it turned a lot of potential voters off from the Conservatives. This coming from a long time Conservative voter who may not vote for them this election. I really found those ads to be boneheadingly arrogant. Enough to turn me off. I disagree. I dont think the Liberal rise has anything to do with anything other then the decline of the NDP. And we knew this was possible. There was a lot of undecided and the second choice of both Liberals and NDP were each other. So realistically, if enough NDP supporters wanted Harper out more than they wanted Mulcair in, this was inevitable. It's not that simple. People vote the way they do for a reason & more likely it's a personal reason. Do you think all the anti Harper voters who were considering the NDP but changed their minds had this massive conference call where they all decided at once to vote for Trudeau? The NDP scare a lot of voters. It's not always the big things that make people change their minds but the little things as well. I'm sure that there were more than a few Conservative voters who got tired & annoyed with that ad & the way the party was conducting this election that made them support Trudeau. I'm considering supporting Trudeau solely just because of those damned stupid ads. More out of spite because the Conservatives treat us like we're stupid. I'm sure a lot of other voters feel the same way. The Conservatives blew it. No not all. Some. Enough.

  18. I am insulting people because I point out their hypocrisy? Really. What thin-skins we all have. I just don't get why you and your gang of holier-than-thous pick on the few here who aren't anti-Harper parrots out of some misguided sense of fairness (or partisanship), yet stay silent when people blatantly lie. And then try and pretend that it "only happened once". As I said, I really hate how politics brings out the worst in people. Religion is pretty much tied with politics in that sense. Want to bring a dinner party to a standstill? Mention either religion or politics and boom, it's destroyed. My niece summed up for me the NDP stance this weekend when she told the whole family how dumb we were because we were voting Liberal or Conservative, instead of the "obvious" choice which was the NDP, because all the other parties worried about was "money". This from someone who is 100% dependent on her parents to pay her tuition, her books, her dorm, her clothes, her food, everything. Just delusional. Of course you don't have to "worry about money", that's mom and dad's problem. When you don't have to worry about money, and have nothing to lose, the NDP is definitely the obvious choice. If your niece is dependent upon her parents to pay for everything, its no wonder she believes the NDP are the rightful party. She wants to be taken care of. One day, when she has a career and assets and money of her own, chances are she will begin to feel like the money she makes should be hers to keep, people who want to be taken care of from cradle to grave are wrong and the government should mind its own business.
  19. The poor Conservatives just can't catch a break. People are being so mean to them. Pointing out double standards isn't crying. Preparing to be outraged over something that hasn't happened yet is. The "lol" at the end would indicate a lot more amusement than outrage. But spin it any way that works for your view.
  20. I see nothing wrong with it. Justin has made himself look bad on many occasions. New leader. ....same out of touch liberalsHe's awful. It surprises me that his most prominent job is as an low level actor because I find his speaking style very unnatural and disingenuous. Someone should tell him just to 'act' like a respected political leader and see if he does a better job. he never seems to have answers for questions he isnt prepared for and doesnt seem to understand the issues when pressed. Complete empty suit and puppet for his masters. At least harper is the master. We know his plan.....with princess Justine you really don't know what you're getting. Well lets not forget how scary Harper is and his hidden agenda. I guess he's lazy because ten years later and he still hasnt unleashed this hidden agenda to destroy Canada. Generally speaking I dont buy into too much of "X is going to be the downfall of the nation" because no party is going to move Canada all the way right or all the way left. It just wouldnt happen. So I dont subscribe to any scary Justin stuff. I just think being Prime Minister should require some experience and not be an on-the-job training gig.
  21. I just can't get over the image of Putin and Trudeau in the same room together. Putin just pointing and laughing and realizing that the entire Canadian north is now his for the plucking. This is why Trudeau is a bad choice. No way can he stand up to actual leaders. He'd make us a joke. I'd take putin over him in a heartbeat. Putin is strong and actually defends his country's culture and traditions. Why couldn't he? Because attack ads told you so? Because he cant even stand up to those Canadian reporters that question him on his nonsense. He fumbles and stumbles and tries to remember what his bosses told him to say. The guy has no real world experience. Maybe he's a World Leader Prodigy. But nothing we have seen of him has indicated that to be remotely true. I know I know..."we need change from the usual politicians". When you need an auto mechanic you dont go down to rainbow stage and hire a vapid "actor" with zero experience working on cars.
  22. Thats abject stupidity but its your right to feel that way. Im just glad neither I nor most people live in that world of constant fear.I love how people like to live in a Disney movie and think that fox and hound and lion and warthog live in a magical land of pixies and rainbows. There's evil out there. throw caution to the wind, that's your choice. I don't live in fear, I live safe, ready to defend my life and of my loved ones. Being ready isn't being afraid. There's being "ready" and there's being silly. Carrying around a shotgun on the off chance someone tries to murder you is rather silly.

  24. One comment. Oh good grief. Now you are lying too. As always I find, when cornered, the result is deliberate obtuseness as a defense. Fine, just pretend that the NDP idiots in this thread only made one stupid comment full of lies. Not true, but whatever floats your denial boat. As I said, you can't bully me or tell me how to post, and your tactics and willful blindness disgust me. I can't wait for this election to finally be over. It definitely brings out the worst in a lot of people. Imagine how angry people will when the ndp and liberals force a quick election after the conservatives win a minority. That will backfire as Canadians are very tired of this election. Really, the choice to run a longer campaign might turn out to be a stroke of genius.
