  1. I saw video of the day the trade went down and Teemu was very unhappy. By then everyone knew the team was leaving. I wouldnt say he asked for a trade. I think he was promised he would not be traded. Anyway...off topic. If Roslovic or Lemieux ends up better than Kane, we win the trade running away. The fact Stafford and Armia are both contributing roster members (and Stafford helped the Jets make the playoffs last year) almost makes it at least even already. Kane is the most talented forward in the group so far but the sum of what we got is greater than what Kane is right now. Unless he begins to live up to his potential, this trade is going to be the crown jewel of Chevy's GM career for many, many years, especially if Roslovic becomes the stud he could be...
  2. I agree. Philosophically, I cant approve of tanking. Realistically though, the GM can make reasonable decisions for the future of the franchise that have the net effect of likely making the Jets lose more games. ie. trading their UFA's for pics/prospects. Now along comes Helle to mess it all up. The only "good news" if good news is tanking is that, as you say, they really have little choice but to send Helle back to the Moose. The other options are waiving Hutch or trading Hutch or Pavs and I dont really see either. Maybe a trade involving Hutch for a 3rd or 4th rounder to a team wanting some goalie insurance.
  3. Yeah, not a normal type of want for the Jets but just feeling that with Scheif hurt, they might want a bit more depth. But I guess they are happy with Lowry and Armia and Hali from the Moose. And so far so good. Unless you want to score Austin Matthews. Then it's bad.
  4. This is the first I am hearing of this. I've seen news stories from that day where Teemu was distraught and said he felt betrayed and never wanted to leave. The theory is that the new owners couldnt afford both Teemu and Tkachuk and chose the American they thought would be an easier marketing chip in Arizona.
  5. SportsCentre ✔ @SportsCentre UPDATE: Blues F Scott Gomez and Flyers F Sam Gagner clear #NHL waivers #TSNHockey pic.twitter.com/dzPf5LOqxc Retweeted by TSN ***I wondered if the Jets would have had interest in Gagner for depth purposes. I guess not.
  6. I dont know him, but I take some of the charity stuff with a grain of salt. Perhaps he's a spoiled, immature punk with a legitimate love for kids and charities. But the cynic in me wonders how much of it is his agent advising him of the good will it buys. Even if he's innocent, the fact he picked up a girl at a bar for "consensual" sex that she cant remember and ended up injured speaks to his character. I think most of us who enjoyed the bar scene in our 20's had a line we didnt cross and it was generally when the girl wouldnt be able to remember what she was doing... (or at least that was one of the lines). Im not sure I'd call him a bust yet. I really wanted him in my pool. Thought he'd have a big year. The return on that trade looks better all the time.
  7. Darrin Bauming @DarrinBauming The #Bombers have made a $4.5 million payment to Triple B Stadium Inc, made up of "entertainment tax, facility fees, and excess cash."
  8. Public response should be very interesting considering the Patrick Kane fiasco. I was someone who was surprised he wasnt charged to be honest. Evander hired the same lawyer as Patrick... Evander *was* engaged. I guess his admission that it was consensual has ended that engagement (according to social media). As a layman, a few things I see. For one, the alleged victim did not call police. The hospital did, due to injuries she suffered (presumably injuries consistent with a sexual assault). The alleged victim could not remember events of the evening. One article I read discussed how someone suffering a traumatic event could have short term amnesia. My initial reaction was not amnesia but something else that might cause memory loss when 20-somethings party the night away. The memory loss could be good or bad for Kane. Good in that if she cant remember, she's a lousy witness. Bad in that one can presume they did a toxicology and certain drugs would be bad news. Big Show guys had someone on discussing the case and pointed out that Kane lives in a hotel beside the arena. This is good for investigators (potential to be bad or good for Kane depending on what happened) as there will be more likelihood of witnesses, video cameras etc. I find it interesting that they impounded Kane's car. And the police initial statement was that the investigation would "take some time". Hopefully there is no assault in this case. But an engaged player picking up a young woman mid-season for sex that she cant remember the next day and ends up in the hospital....just another reason most of us are thrilled this guy is Buffalo's problem. Over/under on how long before he claims racism...?
  9. I guess I stopped checking it! Glad the site is back. Now if the Jets start losing, you'll have to take the site down before every game...for luck or something.
  10. On the other hand, I missed the site precisely because it was the holidays and I was sitting around doing nothing for several days! lol Might I suggest using the twitter handle to communicate extended outages? I know for me personally, thats the first place I checked when I realized the site was down for awhile...
  11. I thought there was a Bill Cosby thread but I couldnt find it (possibly in another celebrity sex thread). Anyway, the Cos may be seeing the chickens coming home to roost... An arrest warrant has been issued for entertainer Bill Cosby for allegedly drugging and sexually assaulting former Temple employee Andrea Constand at his Elkins Park, Pennsylvania mansion in January 2004, sources tell PEOPLE. Constand was not available for comment but one of her attorneys expressed gratitude toward the prosecutor. "Obviously we appreciate the expression of confidence in her," says Dolores Troiani of her client, Constand, 42, who is now a massage therapist in Ontario, Canada. "We'll have to see what happens. We hope justice will be done. We will cooperate fully." Cosby has previously said what happened between him and Constand was consensual, but in new court filings last summer Constand said she was in a relationship with a woman at the time. She also called Cosby a "narcissist" who missed cues that she's gay. The statute of limitations to charge Cosby runs out in January. Troiani exclusively told PEOPLE in September that if prosecutors decided to arrest Cosby for the alleged assault, Constand would fully cooperate. "I think she'd a very strong lady," Troiani said. "She'll do whatever she needs to do, whatever they ask of her." So far, more than 50 women have accused the entertainer of drugging and/or sexually assaulting them. (Cosby has vehemently denied all of the allegations). The warrant comes just two weeks after Cosby filed defamation lawsuits against several of those accusers, who have filed defamation lawsuits of their own against him.
  12. Well here we go again. Buffalo + Kane. The biggest story to happen during the few days the site was down. Sabres forward Evander Kane was calm and brief in saying he looks forward to having his name cleared in connection with a sex crime allegation. "I just want to say I've done nothing wrong," Kane said Monday morning following Buffalo's pre-game skate before hosting the Washington Capitals. "I respect the legal process. And unfortunately at this time, there's not much more I can talk about." Kane spoke for about 30 seconds in front of a large gathering of reporters in a corner of the Sabres locker room. He did not take any questions in his first comments since The Buffalo News reported that Buffalo police were investigating a claim made against the player. The alleged incident occurred early Sunday at a downtown hotel, where Kane is living, after he and the Sabres returned to Buffalo following a 6-3 win at Boston. Police issued a statement that was limited to saying that no report or charges had been filed. The investigation is in its preliminary stages, according to a person with direct knowledge of the details who spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity because officials are not publicly commenting about the case. The person said police searched Kane's room at the hotel and towed his vehicle, describing that as standard practice in such cases. Would be in lineup Kane rejoined his teammates after being given a personal day off on Sunday, when coach Dan Bylsma said the Sabres were made aware of the allegation. Bylsma said Kane would be in the lineup against the Capitals. Without going into detail, Bylsma said Kane addressed the team before practice and added the player appeared happy to be on the ice with his teammates. Bylsma otherwise declined comment by referring to a statement the team released on Sunday. "We take the allegation made today against Evander Kane very seriously," the Sabres said. "We are gathering facts and have been in touch with the NHL and Evander's representatives." Kane, who is from North Vancouver, British Columbia, is the second NHL player to be investigated for a sex offence by police in the Buffalo area this year. In November, prosecutors cited a lack of credible evidence after reviewing an allegation against Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane, who was accused of assaulting a woman at his off-season home outside Buffalo in August. Sabres captain Brian Gionta said the allegation against Kane shouldn't be a distraction. "It's one of our teammates obviously, but the bottom line is, when we're in this room we have to worry about hockey," Gionta said. "Lots of things happen, and that's for him to deal with. Part of being a professional is trying to separate things." Gionta referred to the team statement when asked how the team will support Kane. "It's a serious accusation, but at the same time, that's what it is at this point in time," Gionta said. "And until things change, he's our teammate and that's about it." The 24-year-old Kane is in his first full season in Buffalo after he was acquired in a multi-player trade with the Winnipeg Jets in February. He did not play for the Sabres last year because he was recovering from season-ending shoulder surgery. This year, the hard-hitting forward has eight goals and five assists in 25 games. Kane is in his seventh NHL season after being selected fourth overall by the then-Atlanta Thrashers in the 2009 draft. He has scored 19 or more goals three times, and enjoyed a career-best season in 2011-12, when he had 30 goals, 27 assists for 57 points in 74 games.
  13. Where did everything go the last few days??
  14. "We'll give it some time and see how he's feeling tomorrow" Maurice on Scheifele, who needed stitches following a collision with Ladd today.
  15. According to Dreger he thinks they sign ladd and trade buff. He said Trouba won't be traded because of the jets would trade him he would be gone to the islanders for Hamonic already.
  16. Do you think RNH could be had?
  17. Those are all network shows. And each one is a series. For example the great rivalries also has Cena/Rock and a couple others I can't remember. The WWE List with the top ten has a ton of episodes. Beyond The Ring is the documentaries that are on many of their dvd releases. i also recommend Monday Night War which is a several part series about the war and its really good. But it yeah all that content is on the Network.
  18. More records falling sun LOS ANGELES - "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has stayed spectacular, dominating U.S. moviegoing on Christmas Eve with $27.1 million at 4,134 locations on its seventh day of release. The space saga racked up US$391.1 million in its first week -- obliterating the record of $296.2 million set in June by the first week of "Jurassic World." "The Force Awakens" is already the 22nd highest domestic grosser of all time. Its Christmas Eve grosses pushed it past the notable hits "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2" ($381 million), "Finding Nemo" ($380.8 million) and "Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith" ($380.3 million). Internationally, the seventh Star Wars has hit $422.4 million, bringing its global box office receipts to $813.5 million. The pic should surpass the $1 billion worldwide mark by the end of the Christmas weekend, setting yet another record as the fastest to hit the 10-figure milestone.
  19. Well yeah we want Hall. But never going to happen.
  20. apparently a scout at a Flames game was telling people that Simmonds had been traded to Montreal and it would be announced when the freeze was over.... Others calling the rumor nonsense.
  21. If I recall Matthews is essentially an over ager too isn't he? Birthday two or so days after the draft deadline. He's ready to play in the NHL.
  22. Yeah but even though Atlanta is a big market no one there knew who he was. He seems like a laid back guy who would just as soon sign where he is then go through all the craziness of free agency.
  23. Isn't Connor actially a centre also? Jets drafted lots of centres. Even if they don't pan out for us it increases their trade value.
  24. If we had Matthews then little shifts to RW.
