  1. Brandon London 3 catches for 36 yards in two games yeah getting beat every play. SMH blind hate.

When did I say he got beat every play? I actually said that he wasn't that bad this game. Do I hate Jovon? As a person, not really but I don't know the guy. What I do know is that he has been swinging between below-average to atrocious since game one of last season and won a MODP award based on high INT numbers. You obviously like the guy, which is fine by me but in my mind, watching countless years of him bumbling around in the secondary, I think he is far and away the weak link of the entire D. How many catches does Brandon Stewart allow? How many yards did Suber and Washington allow to Richardson and Green, two of the best SBs in the league?

  2. With Cauchy, we really didn't have a place for Edem unless we wanted to chance him at Nickel. If Mulumba comes here in the next few years and replaces Mainor as I assume is the plan, I won't lose sleep over not having Edem. He does look good, but he would have been an awkward fit.

  3. It's less of an indictment of his game today, but he was atrocious last week and last season he was just as bad. Forget the fact that he's a joke of a punt returner at this point in his career (and if he keeps fumbling, we are down to 0 reasons why he should be there over Washington), he's just not a good DB. No matter what you think of either PI call on him this week or last, he's still the only Bomber with a PI call period and he just gets beat.

The though of Sears replacing him brings me to a happy place straight out of Happy Gilmore. And I actually think Burke has the balls to do it.

  4. This defense is really incredible next to Jovon. I wouldn't change a thing. Anderson and Turner are both special players. I know Flory is super old but he looked brutal. Obviously this new Alouette offensive scheme is garbage so far but I was still impressed.

I'm frustrated as hell with the offence still since even Buck's completions were mostly tough catches from the receivers bailing him out but this team will be competitive in the East this year, no doubt. It may have been ugly, but we haven't won pretty games since 2007 so may as well get used to it.

  5. Forget Whitaker, Noel Deivine can be a game breaker. Looked really slippery last week.

When Noel Devine gets yardage from anything other than a sweep or an outside pitch, then I will be concerned. He's hardly slippery, he's just speedy.

  6. I'm hoping Whitaker is rusty and after major knee surgery, he could easily not be the same player. He's still better than Jennings but he should't be the same back he has been in years past. At least not in his first game.

I mean, by all logic we should lose this game. All things being equal, we lost at home and play a team that gained their starting HB and Lavoie as well who is no slouch, while we haven't gotten anyone back from injury and lost Gilmore. I guess Carrier not playing helps but there is a reason why we are underdogs. Of course, if the defense plays just as well as last week and Buck throws 1 or 2 less picks, it's easily a different story so I am looking forward to it.

I just hope that our best player on offense is someone other than Demond Washington because as spectacular as he was, it's clearly not sustainable.

  7. he also hit mathews on that reverse fade for the td, jade on a quick out for 8 yards and pontibrand for a big first down too so stop trying to make it like hes incapable.. its a work in progress, no doubt but not thos dismal failure your implying..

I'm all for being positive but if hitting receivers and reading a blitz is still a work in progress for a 31 year old QB in his 9th season, it's a serious problem. As much as Burris makes his OL look good, Buck makes his look bad.

  8. Dee Webb is a huge loss for Hamilton and I always enjoy seeing position players try to punt and kick but this Waters injury is frustrating because I love nothing more than to see Toronto waste an import spot on a useless kicker. They are almost even better off with Prefontaine just for ratio sakes.

  9. I think Anderson is better suited for DT as well and it may be an option considering the lack of options there. I don't love the idea of Lucas being a starter and Thomas may or may not be injured. Even then, as much as I like Thomas he isn't a viable starter at this point in his career. Bringing back Frazier is an option I suppose but my preference is giving Anderson a week or two at the position to see what he's got.

  10. And in case I didn't say it enough last time, it's a horrible, horrible feeling when you know you have a chance at the game and you know that your QB is going to let you down. Any other starting QB is playing for us and we win that game. Montreal was taking away the run and there were many, many throwing lanes that Buck straight up missed. It's depressing to me how good this team can be with adequate QBing. On the plus side, that was a better defensive performance than we saw in any game in 2012.

  11. Quibbles.

Everything you said about Austin's CFL cred can be said about Milanovich but I doubt anyone would say that too.

It was Creehan that did most of the alienating here not Cortez. Creehan lost the defense in training camp and never got it back. As a result it infected the whole team.

More than one player has commented how it has been like night and day compared to last year.

Gable will be starting. Not as fast as Walker but a better pass catcher and blocker.

Burris ' steady decline ? His only real bad year was 2011 bookended by great years. If you can demonstrate how he's so much less mobile I'd be interested in seeing it. (as opposed to just saying it)

IMO you're underrating Bulcke who will be starting. Overstating Williams only to knock him down ? Austin said he would probably be a rotational guy.

Who are the "people" that are picking HAM to challenge for first ? All I've seen is third or last, not that it matters.

Not a bad summation, a few straw-man arguments though.

I would like to counter a few of your arguments but I do think that you should understand that the purpose of this thread is to point out the flaws in the other teams and while keeping things fair, I'm not out to necessarily compliment the other teams in the league. I do appreciate your input however.

The comparison between Austin and Milanovich is fair to a point but there are pretty significant differences. Milanovich won the Cup last year and although there are a lot of changes on the Argos, the offence is mostly in tact and being the defending champs gives him the benefit of the doubt. Austin won the Cup in '07 which is essentially ages ago. It was a different time and a different team. He will have his work cut out for him but as I said, I expect him to be a good coach for the Ti-Cats. He just may not be the saviour he is expected to be by some. Another important different is that Milanovich had and has Chris Jones as his experienced DC. Steinauer may well be a great DC someday but as of now, there really is no contest between them.

If Gable is in fact the starter, I apologize for the misinformation. I fully admit I know very little about him so I can't write him off one way or the other. I mean, any CFL rookie is going to be a question mark but like Simpson and Kory Sheets were last year, he could easily surprise us. Import RB is probably the easiest position to play in the CFL to be completely honest and there's no reason for me to believe he can't be good. We just don't know.

I fully admit that most of my arguments and predictions are based on my own observations as well as some stats and some observations of others from other fan forums. I can't say for certain that Burris has lost a step but let's be honest with each other, a 38 year old QB is not going to be as mobile as his 30 or 35 year old self. History has shown that the mobile QBs have a shelf life shorter than the pocket QBs for obvious reasons. I can't take anything away from what Burris accomplished last year and if he repeats it this year good for him. I just think that not only will his time come sooner or later, but he also lost his top weapon from last year, a very good blocking and receiving tailback and a HC that clearly was on the same page as he was. Burris has been a very good QB in the league for a long time, but he's no Calvillo. Lasting as long as Calvillo has and staying as successful is most certainly not the norm.

Just because Bulcke is starting doesn't mean he is any good. I realize that he was a somewhat highly touted prospect coming out of Stanford but as of this very moment, he hasn't done jack in the league. Maybe there wasn't a spot for him in the Calgary D-line and that's why he couldn't crack the lineup regularly and was then allowed to walk but I apologize if he doesn't impress me much. As far as Williams goes, I may have even been kind to him in my writeup. As of this point in his career, he's been given ample opportunity to play and has frankly been garbage. Some of that blame goes to the Saskatchewan coaching staff for playing him out of position but he has given absolutely no indication that he can be a good player in the CFL at any point in his career up until now.
