  1. My bad. Thanks.
  2. Thoughts?? Shut up and take my money!!
  3. Personally I don't see how it's a dangerous precedent when it's clearly a promotion for Jones. As for the assistants, as has been said the vast majority of them have had their contracts now expire.
  4. CKNW ‏@CKNW 8m8 minutes ago #BREAKING: @PressSec Josh Earnest says @realDonaldTrump remarks yesterday "disqualify him from serving as President". #uspoli
  5. Apparently while doing his TSN gig he's attended 10 NFL camps held to improve and come up with new offensive Offensive plays. A guy who is willing to do that on his own dime and time is serious about improving his OC abilities. Time to forget about the old days guys. Give him a break. The old days (02-03), the not so old days (10-12) - Neither of which produced the ultimate goal, nevermind the fact that he has 13 years of coaching experience in the CFL and no championships. Pretty weak in an 8/9 team league. Sorry but I have a hard time trusting someone who had faith that Gary Crowton would be able to run a capable CFL offence.
  6. We know what the changes will be. Build leads, decent rush stats, good play action calls, and ultra conservative in the fourth quarter with leads which is bound to cost us a couple games a season. Ok. We're 12 and 6 instead of 14 and 4 I highly recommend you do some fact checking before offering rebuttals. Rick Warman was the team's offensive coordinator in 2001 when the team went 14-4. The Bombers went 12-6 the next season, and 11-7 the year after under LaPolice. Steady regression as has been the theme throughout most of his coaching career with the exception of a few outliers. There's a reason why we fired him...Twice.
  7. True and in my opinion this is starting to be an issue for the league. I believe it was Madani who tweeted something along those lines either yesterday or earlier today that there is a lack of blue chip coaching prospects out there at the moment league wide. One could make the argument that in some regards the team didn't have a lot to choose from, but at the same time it doesn't make me feel any better about this hire as we've seen the end of this movie twice already...
  8. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it....
  9. Not too hard when you have Charles Roberts and Milt Stegall in their primes. He was still getting chewed out by Milt and Khari Jones a number of times on the sidelines in his first go around as OC here which I remember quite vividly as my season tickets at the old stadium were behind the Bomber bench.
  10. The "anybody but Bellefeuille effect". Is Lapo better? 100 per cent, without question than Marcel. Is he good enough to get the job done? Not a chance.

  12. On one hand, the man has failed here twice before which makes me less than excited. On the other hand the lack of experienced, capable offensive playcallers speaks for itself currently. We got the second best (I don't buy Cortez is retiring) person out there that has experience, but he's still a B level coordinator at my best in my opinion.
  13. Blue Bombers ‏@Wpg_BlueBombers 3m3 minutes ago BREAKING: Head Coach Mike O'Shea has found his new Offensive Coordinator. Welcome @PaulLaPolice!
  14. As per O'Shea's Facebook video on the Bomber page.
  15. Good point. If Cortez is as good as some here are suggesting, then how come BC and Sask let him go? The same reason guys like Don Matthews got fired. Coaches are hired to be fired. Nature of the beast regardless of winning. Funny how people throw Sask in there too considering he was the OC of their staff when they won the Grey Cup in 2013, and the offence was one of the top in the league in 2014 until Durant got hurt in the Banjo Bowl. He was a scapegoat when things went in the toilet with Sunseri.
  16. Agreed. Chapdelaine has way too many similarities to Marcel IMO.
  17. From the original post. That's different than his 'opinion would be considered'. O'Shea and Walters should be making the decisions, not Willy or any other player for that matter. No it's actually not different though. Some opinions have more merit than others, Willy's being one of them. It's still O'Shea's decision (sorry, Walters should have nothing to do with it since it's not his coaching staff) at the end of the day. It's really not a difficult concept to grasp.
  18. Tommy Condell intrigues me as well, though there's a risk in that how much of Hamilton's success is him, and how much is from Kent Austin.
  19. Stop being logical please.
  20. You don't think the starting qb should be heard before hiring an oc? They heard his opinion in retaining Bellefuille... just saying. Because a player is really going to say in public they think a member of their coaching staff should be fired.... Give your head a shake.
  21. You don't think the starting qb should be heard before hiring an oc? The team should be run by management, not by the players. Asking Willy for his opinion of coaches he's worked under is fine. Asking his opinion of coaches he hasn't worked under... not so much. Giving him a yay or nay? Nope. You act like it's Willy's choice alone. They'll ask for his opinion - As they should since he's the franchise QB, but he certainly won't be the one making the decision. He's worked under Cortez, so he'll know obviously if that's an offence he likes or not. If your quarterback doesn't feel comfortable running a certain offence, that tends to pose a bit of a problem.
  22. If forced to choose between Cortez and Harris I'll take Cortez easily. Cortez has the championships as mentioned, and Jennings and Lulay are hardly what anyone would call great quarterbacks so I personally attribute BC's struggles to simply a lack of talent than anything else - A big reason why Wally has taken as much heat as he has lately. I think there are better ways to spend our money than on a running back regardless of his passport. Take care of the defensive line so we can get some solid pressure without needing to send the house, and work on the offensive line as well. Offensively speaking, you get much better results with a great O-line that can create lanes for a back versus a great running back running behind a poor offensive line. It just doesn't work. We need to dominate the LOS on both sides of the ball in 2016.
  23. Drew Willy looked very good in his starts under Cortez in Saskatchewan. I'd love to have him over a coach that's already failed twice here.... http://www.winnipegfreepress.com/sports/football/bombers/Blue-Bombers-considering-ex-Lion-for-offensive-co-ordinator-spot-360196641.html The crazy season in the CFL — the annual shuffling of coaching jobs that begins after the Grey Cup — has spit out an intriguing name for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The B.C. Lions, in addition to announcing Wednesday Wally Buono would return to the sidelines and act as GM after Jeff Tedford resigned amid rumours he was heading back to the NCAA, also indicated veteran offensive co-ordinator George Cortez would not return in 2016. It’s worth noting Cortez, even before the announcement, was already on the Bombers’ candidate wish list for their vacant offensive co-ordinator position. So, too, is Bombers Hall of Famer Khari Jones, who spent last season as the Lions’ receivers coach. The Bombers would need permission from the Lions to speak with Jones, but are free to chat with Cortez now. The Bombers have already begun the interview process for their offensive boss position and there are a number of candidates said to be on the list, including former head coach-turned-TSN analyst Paul LaPolice, Marcus Brady of the Toronto Argonauts, Jarious Jackson of the Edmonton Eskimos, Saskatchewan Roughriders interim head coach Bob Dyce and offensive coordinator Jacques Chapdelaine. Jason Maas, the Ottawa Redblacks offensive guru, has long been on Bombers head coach Mike O’Shea’s wish list but he could be a candidate for the Eskimos if their current head coach, Chris Jones, bolts to the Riders for a GM/head coach gig. He’s also not going to make a lateral move unless it involves a promotion, such as an assistant head coach title. All those candidates are likely watching to see what unfolds in Regina, but in Cortez, the Bombers have a candidate they can talk to now. There is also a connection: Cortez was the Riders offensive co-ordinator in 2013-14, working one year with Drew Willy before the quarterback landed in Winnipeg. And Willy’s possible endorsement — or a thumbs down — will play a significant role in who ends up in the job. Cortez has 19 years experience in the CFL, beginning with the Montreal Concordes in 1984. He has also worked for the Ottawa Rough Riders, Calgary Stampeders and Buffalo Bills before becoming the Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ head coach in 2012. He was fired by the Ticats after one season, having posted a 6-12 record, but has been a part of five Grey Cup championship teams, four with the Stamps (1992, 1998, 2001 and 2008) and one with the Riders (2013).
  24. Someone fill me in if they don't mind, but how are we (or anyone) able to sign this guy without him going through the draft?
