  1. Well, more so because of injury, but still.......
  2. I was extremely fortunate to do a one-week internship thing with TSN at the end of broadcast school, in 2002, when the Scotties were in Brandon. Did a variety of things, but was a gopher sometimes for the on-air crew. Hung out next to the booth while the broadcasts were on. In those days, TSN broadcast the week, and CBC picked up the weekend. It was Wittman, dumbass Mike Harris and Joan McKusker working the CBC 'casts, and they'd show up in the VIP/Broadcasters area on the Thursday during the day. It's a long story, but Wittman was a big time practical joker and because I was there in the vicinity, he had me aid and abet a rather elaborate joke on McKusker that actually worked out slamming Harris more than anything. It was glorious and proved to me just how much of a treat Don Wittman is.....a genuinely wonderful man.
  3. also, looks like Thad Gibson in at DE for Peach this week......... via our intrepid print reporters at practice on Twitter....(Bauming, Penton, etc.)
  4. ...with Knuckles/Bob Cameron a VERRRRY close second.....
  5. To this day, Walby and Wittman are my favourite CFL broadcast crew of all time...
  6. fwiw, Picard back at C today.....took a Vet Day....
  7. ...and Penton's had us in 7th.....tough to get a read on anything this year.
  8. I wish we had a single sportscaster in this country with the professionalism and gravitas that Don Wittman had. He's gotta be rolling over in his grave when the chuckle heads on TSN turn Sports Centre into a comedy routine. Ridiculous. Man, that call of the Bailey 96 Gold still gives me chills.....and the call of Jennifer Jones "in-off to win" in 2005. Great calls from the greatest sportscaster....
  9. I have 3 strikes now, so I'm not sure if I'm still in this, but I'll take Andrew Harris if so....
  10. a guy behind me at McMahon was talking about this. I hadn't heard the rumour yet, but apparently Lapo's been contacted and told to sit tight....barring a monster comeback by the Riders on the season, Lapo's packing his bags...
  11. the constant screaming from Edmonds is awful...can't stand it.
  12. Also of note, sounds like Cam Marshall and Johnny Adams had quite the dust up at practice that took awhile to break up. Kinda glad to see nobody's happy and joking around about losing on the weekend....
  13. ...First off, thought it a bit odd that they came home for the week, rather than staying in AB, but I suppose flying was cheaper than hotels etc for the week and practicing at home rather than at McMahon and Commonwealth during the week might be tougher. At any rate.......some news here that'll make the Peach haters happy..... Paul Wiecek ✔ @PaulWiecek OShea says Picard was sick today and Daniels is day to day with a lower body injury; Peach is out this week and Turner will be out again #bn
  14. and the Riders have way more of those type of fans than any other team, by a mile. Good for them, because that helps the bottom line a TON, but man do I ever hate bandwagon fans because they're the loudest while being the most ignorant.
  15. Yup...plenty on Ticketmaster and even a few on StubHub....
  16. Odell Willis is a moron, on the field. Always has been, and it's why he was sent packing from here in the first place. Above all else, I want smart athletes...
  17. Lol Bob Cole....1993 called...
  18. Gord Miller really developed a complex lately where he thinks he's the smartest guy in the booth. If he'd just stick to doing play by play he'd be fine but he drifts into the colour commentary role too often that it really ruins his broadcasts for me. Cuthbert is the best play by play man in the business and it's not even close. Dunigan is the best colour man but it's mostly cause he's just a football fan having a blast on the air. Suitor is terrible and Duane Forde is trying too hard to be colourful. If he'd go back to just being the boring persona I'd like him a lot more. Forde was making me laugh with the OH HELL NO comments after the Sharknado intro by Rod Plaque. Lol, Rod Plaque. Lyle would just love that nickname. Indeed. Makes me sad that we may never see him call a hockey game again because of those power and money hogs over at Sportsnet. He's far better than most of those guys that they hired. The quality of Rogers hockey is plain awful. All. All of those guys that they hired.
  19. Ahh I had two guys behind me talking about living in MB back in the 80s and now living in AB full time. I was curious
  20. hey Al -- you weren't in Section Q by chance, were you? Sayyyyy...like Row 14?
  21. Best hockey PBP, best football PBP.....Cuthbert is fantastic.
  22. you are being way too positive. I want to say "there's no such thing.." but..........Spuds.........
  23. We won last year...killed the demon, as far as I'm concerned. Same as winning in Regina...it counts. Now, to Commonwealth......
  24. Exorcising the Commonwealth demon next week (to go along with the McMahon and Taylor ones...) would be a fine start to this end.....
  25. Punch for punch with the champs. Let's go exorcise another demon next weekend...
