  1. worst I ever heard, and it was on an American NHL broadcast one time in the late 90s, was "Poor man's Barry Richter..."
  2. have been hearing this Logan Stanley is a big, slow plug....like "Poor Man's Hal Gill" kinda thing. Hoping that doesn't turn out to be true...
  3. It was a combination of the best things about TPB and Corner Gas.... I'm still laughing so hard about the guy pissing down the basement steps... "but I figure hey its your house..."
  4. It was one of the greatest sporting events I've ever been at. Bombers fans along the sidelines getting high fives from all the players and they gave me a pair of game worn cutter gloves from. That day. Incredible day....
  5. I know I'm late to the party but I finally got around to watching Letterkenny last night. I don't remember the last time I laughed that hard at anything. Growing up in a small town, this was a pretty great little snapshot of that life...
  6. Ya we've got a crew coming. Weather's supposed to be nice...Late game so hopefully it stays relatively warm and hopefully we can have some celebratory pops after....
  7. I might have to rewatch, but I remember seeing some tight coverage (at times) from both newcomers...
  8. that IS the easy way to go about things, for sure...
  9. I'll never give up on a team this early, especially after seeing what the Lions did in 2011.....
  10. Game 1 of 18, guys.......game 1.
  11. Who says Edmonton is going to be any hot hell? Their team has been completely gutted. Sure they have Reilly, but they're missing a ton. Calgary, lotta changes there, too...we don't know what anyone's looking like. Ham looked real good vs Toronto, for sure, but let's just wait and see...
  12. Insane that Chia wasn't able to make a deal happen to get the big top pairing D he wanted. One of the talking heads tweeted yesterday "If Chia can't make it happen here, then it can't be done..." and that's pretty much it. There's so few legit top pairing D and nobody's willing to part with one for less than a king's ransom, and Chia's not stupid. Lots of talk that by taking Puljujarvi, they now have a bit of freedom to trade one of their 6m Core guys....we'll see if anything happens over the next week, leading up to FA Day...
  13. Even knowing full well it'll likely get derailed by crazy people, I'm going to do my best to create a little sanctuary for those willing to take a couple breaths and relax... Bombers were pretty awful on offense for the first 3/4 of this game. No getting around that. OL wasn't good enough, and Drew Willy will be the first to tell you he didn't have a good game. Missing weapons on O, and neither Harris nor Dressler were 100% to begin with. On the upside, Jace Davis looked good in spots and Darvin Adams was actually showing some heart, coming back to the ball a couple times. Harris showed a lotta hustle and heart...he cared right to the bitter end. McDuffie had a good night on returns and was really close to busting a couple...that's only going to get better. Thought kick cover units were outstanding last night...ton of hustle all night. D was really solid for the most part. Another outstanding effort from Chris Randle. #RandleIsland indeed. Thought Bruce Johnson got exposed a couple times last night...without knowing coverages and what not, it's hard to tell who's responsible for what, but it APPEARED like he was at fault on two early big plays... Was pleasantly surprised by both Fogg and Posey. Seemed to me like both had solid nights... DL came as advertised...3/4 pieces had a really good night. Still not 100% sold on the new end... Anyone else surprised by the overall lack of penalties on the night? Distinct lack of PI calls, overall, was really surprising to me. Really felt like the refs were "letting 'em play" last night..... Bottom line, it's a long season. We all knew it'd take time for all the new pieces to come together, especially with a whole new offense to learn. I'd rather have some stumbles now, and slowly put it all together as we go...hopefully clicking by Labour Day. I'll be at McMahon next weekend for Game 2 and I'm expecting a MUCH better game from the O....
  14. Plenty of time. Drew Willy will be the first one to tell you he didn't have his best game as a Bomber. We've seen first hand what he's capable of, though, when he's on...he'll be better, and so will the team. It's early....breathe everyone.
  15. Lol at doom and gloom after Game 1. I don't know how you guys get through a day...
  16. Tough start for sure. Talk to me after Labour Day...
  17. Fwiw, Twitter is saying that Columbus is working on some kinda deal with Calgary that would see Bobrovski and #3 go to Calgary for a Forward and #6....
  18. Just read Minnie/Edmonton working on some kinda package involving Matt Dumba and RNH.......intriguing.... Also, Calgary working with Columbus on some kinda package that would send Bobrovsky and the #3 to Calgary for #6 and a Forward (not sure who yet)........
  19. Arash Madani ‏@ArashMadani 8m8 minutes ago Per @JDunk12: Esks, Riders talking trade. EDM wants No. 1 pick Josiah St. John AND a first for QB James Franklin. SSK, coherently, declined. Ed Hervey vs. Chris Jones is going to be a real thing to keep your eye on over the coming weeks and months. To reach for two first round picks, including No. 1 overall, in return for a back-up QB with a handful of pro starts is... hilarious, really
  20. Oh Jesus...no, you can dump that on the ground.
  21. for bragging rights...sure....I will bet you that Sask is a worse team than Montreal......
  22. You really don't think Glenn, with Sutton, Carter and Green isn't a pretty formidable offense? And then Noel Thorpe's D, which is always outstanding....?
  23. Better yet, be a man and don't waste good booze...
