  1. TIL - Wade Miller's dad was a Bomber....
  2. it finally happened....... RIP to the greatest in Bombers history:
  3. I've been banging the drum for awhile, but he's the best men's curler "we've" produced in decades. Mike is/was very talented, but.....with all due respect to him....Matt is mentally stronger. When KMart broke the story that Matt was getting back together with his World Jr champ teammate Colton Lott, and picking up one of the best 3rd's in the history of Manitoba curling, BJ Neufeld, I was ecstatic. I don't love bringing in a Harnden from out province, but it is what it is. He's helped calm/steady Colton on the front end. Overall, it's one of the best Manitoba men's teams in a very very very long time. Mike's team from 2010ish was, arguably, the best in the world. They won virtually everything on tour......but when it came time for playdowns, they (Mike?) just broke down completely. They lost to everyone in the big game....even Rob "F*** Around" Fowler, one year.....it was totally psychological. I think if there had been Wild Card teams at the Brier in those years, there's a chance they would have won a Brier, but they just couldn't get over the mental hurdle of winning a Buffalo. Anyhow, short story long, this Dunstone team is something special and as someone who is insanely passionate about the state of Manitoba "pro" curling, I am beyond ecstatic. We currently own the Women's game (at this point, we're sending glorified club curlers to the Scotties to help round out the field) and if we can get the Manitoba Men's division "powered up" again, we're going to be in really good shape. We've got Mike and Fry, curling out of Toronto because they couldn't put a team together in MB (source: Cathy Gauthier) and in the Final 4 at the Brier, Jocko Gauthier curling out of BC (he's going to be outstanding with experience).... our crop of Juniors over the last several years has been really really good, which bodes well for the Men's and Ladies divisions going forward. THANK GOODNESS!! (....and Go, Dunny, Go!)
  4. mid Jan I had a tickle cough, tested positive on a Friday night, then negative Monday and every other day for a week after that.....but had a cough, then a brutal head cold, then a cough that would not go away. Was the better part of a month before I kicked that fully. It was BRUTAL. Still not sure if it was COVID or not, but whatever it was...it sucked hard. My one "official" COVID bout, last Feb, was fairly mild thanks to science....... but whatever this thing was, was brutal.
  5. it's also possible that those who think they haven't had it, may have but weren't symptomatic. That's a thing, for sure. But absolutely good on anyone who's still doing everything they can to avoid it. You don't want any part of it.
  6. I still get a lot of requests for DL on our classic rock station.... his version of Mercury Blues is particularly popular....
  7. These are the Al's I know, I know....these are the Al's I know.....
  8. one of the talking heads on Twitter made the point last night that the team doesn't have enough scoring talent to bail out Helle when he goes through rough stretches. The Jets are ride or die with him...they go as he goes.
  9. Walters has also said in recent interviews that they might look at the global draft for some kicking help, for what that's worth....
  10. I think Morrissey is TRYING to be that guy, and has shown it a few times this year..... and I feel like Lowry is close to being that guy. I used to think Scheifele might be that guy, but he's slipping in my books...
  11. and the older they are/get, the worse it is....
  12. that is gross.... and absolutely explains a lot about our current society (especially politically)
  13. it's not CAN'T.....it's DON'T WANT TO (...which I will fully admit there is less of in MB than AB, but it's still pretty strong...) The whole "I DON'T WANT ANYTHING TO CHANGE EVER" thing is just exhausting...
  14. money pulled from Uni's and put into trade schools........ they know where their bread is buttered.
  15. any time you lose to a bottom feeder team, you played poorly. Jets deserved to lose that one, if for no other reason than their complete ineptitude on the PP....
  16. I can absolutely see how Alberta governments wouldn't want people being taught about the real history of Canada.....just some white-washed version of it. That would make all kinds of sense...
  17. this site lately..... there have been some sickeningly inhumane takes. Really awful how little some people seem to care about anyone different than them.
  18. all of this, but especially the bolded. And I think it's doubly important for those of us whose lives have been relatively unencumbered to speak the loudest in fighting the good fight.
  19. Sounds like Hansen will be nip n tuck to be ready for the start of the season....
  20. Yeah the Rooney thing was the worst of it, for sure, but any time you had white actors portraying anything other than a white character....man that's so ****** up and hard to believe that was ever acceptable. And not just in terms of race, but other things, like characters with a physical handicap being portrayed by actors who were fully physically able, even when there were perfectly good actors with that handicap who could play that role. All of that **** just disgusts me now, to think about it. But, again, the Rooney thing.... that makes me sick to my stomach.
  21. Yes, it was perfectly acceptable to wildly racist 60 years ago...... what a disgusting time in our history. ******* embarrassing.
