It's actually AOWG. If you're going to talk about it get it right. -

I don't think anyone is taking what Henoc does personally. I'm not & neither is anyone else. All we're doing is talking about it. that's why we're here. -
I think you can collectively bargain around certain laws. Such as anti trust etc. I would think this would be one of those too No you can't. The only American sports league to be exempt from anti-trust laws is MLB. Rich was right about American labour laws being the reason the American teams didn't have to deal with the ratio. Then how does the NHL work? Or any sport that employs Canadian citizens. The issue is that the CFL limits the number of americans that can be on the roster, that's the hang up with American expansion. yeah, i don't think the CFL can expand successfully without eliminating the ratio entirely. I do remember reading years ago that the American teams were thinking of breaking away from the rest of the CFL to form their own league saying their fans didn't like Canadian 3 down rules. There was a famous college coach who was the HC in Memphis who never hid his despise for the Canadian game & went public with it. I know myself as a fan back then it sure didn't feel like the American teams were really a part of the CFL anyway with all American team rosters & the poor exchange on the Canadian dollar crippling Canadian teams. It was just strange time in the league back then.

Not sure why everyone is assuming the "tour" is Henoc or his agent's idea. I think they've both made it quite clear he's still looking for NFL opportunities. CFL teams really want Henoc so they are inviting him to their cities in order to impress him... it's not like Henoc and his agent are demanding these visits. No one has ever done this before or if it did happen, never made it public. It just looks so phony. -
Canadians can play in the US. They have to make the team. Since there'd be no ratio they would actually have to be the best player or players at their position.

Speak for yourself, I want him back here. Lots of people do, and don't care that he is still trying to land an NFL spot.Speak for yourself. I don't want him back if it's just for a handful of games & it's the same BS next year. A lot of fans don't care anymore. I only want him back if it's a 2 year deal.I didn't say "nobody" disagrees with me, as you claimed in your post involving your hurt feelings.I have neither the time nor inclination to deal with you & your stupid comments about me. And for the record dumbass I never said my feelings were hurt. Others did. Or said they felt bullied here. I never said that & I don't feel bullied by anyone here, certainly not you. I may not like being criticized if people disagree with what I say but I don't dwell on it or I wouldn't stay here. Now take that stupid chip off your shoulder as I won't be arguing with you anymore. We don't need another senseless thread of pointing fingers, accusations & arguing. I was talking about your hurt feelings and with how Henoc Muamba was going about his free agency, you whiny ******* baby. Christ, you are a mega drama Queen. You can troll all you want but you won't catch anything. Have a nice day, -

Then how does the NHL work? Or any sport that employs Canadian citizens. The players have to be demonstrated as better than an American. It's recognized Canadian hockey players are. Football is different. You mean CFL is different? Cause NFL would probably have to work the same way. True. The CFL is different with their rules. I had taken that out of my post but you highlighted it...

Then how does the NHL work? Or any sport that employs Canadian citizens. I believe what the big hangup with American Immigration is the fact that the ratio means Americans can't earn a living in their own country & having to employ a certain number of Canadians on each US team. For the CFL to flourish in the States the ratio would have to be totally eliminated. The other is the overwhelming pool of talent in the United States. Why would American teams sign any Canadians even experienced veterans with the vast amount of homegrown talent available? It didn't happen last time with any American team & I believe there's no reason to think it would happen now.

US Immigration laws won't allow the ratio. That's what happened before. A Canadian can't take an American's job.

But SPuDs no one cares anymore about Muamba. Let him have his NFL dream. No one says he can't but "The Tour" is a farce. If he signs somewhere else in the CFL good for him. Next year it'll be the same. -
The ratio & monetary issues are something the league can't overcome... the American teams paid their players in USD. So, let's just use today as an example. Any CFL free agent who signed with an American team would get his raise with a new contract plus 30% on the exchange. How can Winnipeg compete with that? Which is why Matt Dunigan left the Bombers for Birmingham. He would have been crazy not to. Damon Allen & Tracy Ham left their Canadian teams for US teams. I remember we also lost perennial all star DE Alfred Payton for the same reason. If that's not bad enough, we have to play with 7 Canadian starters as well as others on special teams as opposed to no Canadians on any of the US CFL teams. As Canadian fans figured this all out a lot soured on US expansion as it was rushed & poorly thought out. i don't recall anyone shedding a lot of tears for the defunct team other than Baltimore.

I had the same experience when I had Jets season tickets the first two years the original team was in the NHL. My friend & I had 2 tickets in the last row of the newly constructed upper decks at the old Winnipeg Arena. After the season started, maybe 3 games in the decks were inspected & deemed unsafe for some reason. They closed the first row & moved everybody back one meaning we were sitting in the concourse on plastic orange seats that were bloody uncomfortable. Because of the steep overhang of the upper deck & the fact we were so high up in the concourse nearly half of the view of the ice was gone. The Jets then like the Jets now offered no refunds to anyone saying what happened wasn't their fault. This affected everyone who sat in the last row of the upper decks on both sides of the arena. Don't know how many people were affected but it was quite a few. Winnipeg Enterprises installed close circuit televisions so we could see the action. I just got used to watching the action on the ice to my left & switching to the tv on my right. After 2 seasons of putting up with it, we both decided to cancel our season tickets as clearly there was no solution other than sitting in the end zones which we didn't want to do.

Exactly right on both counts. The CFL needed the dough & Larry Smith the Commish at the time felt US expansion was the way to go. They never figured on or perhaps just ignored the immigration & work policies of the US that included no ratio on the US teams. The other problem was the value of our loonie vs US currency. It was valued then about where it is now which made it damned near impossible for the Canadian teams to compete for the best CFL free agents. They all went to the US teams. Also, the way Smith & the CFL Board of Dinosaurs awarded franchises was a joke unto itself. Announce owners & teams then give them 6 months to field that team & play in markets that never heard of the CFL or understood Canadian football. No wonder the fans stayed away... I just hope, not again..

Expanding to the US would be another disaster. I just hope these are unfounded rumours.

Mr Walters: What has Ottawa done that you have not?

RedBlacks also cut Eric Rogers. The guys in Ottawa aren't as brilliant as some in CFL circles & media are making them out to be. i know cuz I asked Norman Einstein. -
Around the CFL Regular Season Discussion

The way things are going for the Lions they'll be playing in front of friends & family only. Draping off the upper deck just makes it look like the Lions are playing their games in a closet at BC Place. The atmosphere looks terrible on television.I wonder what it's actually like in person? -
I remember the same kind of rumour in the early 1990's just before the CFL expanded into the US the first time. It never happened. Now's a great time to have a US expansion team when the loonie's tanked.

I'd like to see RFA but yeah, the CFLPA would balk. However, I'd like to see it as CFL teams have invested thousands in developing their players & when their contracts expire they can leave. I always disliked that. As far as rookies being team's property for 5 years or until the second contract expires especially if they try the NFL I like that idea. As said, gives us a chance to match any offers other teams make for a guy like Muamba.

There's a Lamborghini dealership that just opened up here in Calgary about 3 months ago right during the recession which has hit this city hard.. I don't know how they'll do. Maybe there's still enough money out here to get them thru until things get better.

I became a Bomber fan during the late 60's when they couldn't win either. In 68 they were 3-13, 69, something like 3-12-1 & 70 2-14. I never saw them win an away game on television until the 71 season. Don't ask me what turned me on to the team during those dark times. I just loved football, my city & the team. So,hopefully your son will become a fan as well.
