I'd bet Don Matthews is chomping at the bit to get back at er.... seriously though, you make a good point... if Huff or Trestman are available I would hope we would put on a full court press for either... but otherwise you're probably looking at another rookie up-and-comer.... People would like to see an experienced HC but failing that, hiring a successful coordinator who has actually won in this league would be fine. Someone like Orlando Steinhauer or perhaps Noel Thorpe. But not a STC with less than 5 years of actual coaching experience which is what we hired in MOS who had no experience game planning against an offense as a DC & putting personnel in the right place. .

I don't know what kind of chemistry Marcel and Willy have had. Willy wanted his OC on the sidelines and Marcel appeared reluctant - but agreed. Then as soon as Willy gets injured again (which is fairly often BTW) and the next QB installed, Marcel scoots back upstairs. Willy has a qb coach to talk to on the sidelines. MB doesn't have time to talk to Willy during a game much as he's too busy.

An offense should be designed for the types of players you have. MB's offense doesn't do that. He's run the same O in Sask, Montreal & Hamilton. I've seen Willy do fakes & at times turn his back to the play doing these fakes & then have to try to find an open receiver. That means Willy who holds onto the ball too long at the best of times has to hold onto it even longer. Look at what the top offenses do. Their qbs never turn their back to the defense on a pass. They rely on quick hitters, getting the ball out fast & spreading things out all over the field. If 40 year old Hank Burris in Ottawa & a 24 year old rookie qb Josh Mathews in Hamilton can do it & have success, then we need to be doing the same. We don't. So we get killed. Defenses love to play us.

Edmonton has looked pretty bad in the 2nd half of the season. It's not even cliche this season to say that all you gotta do is get in the playoffs to have a shot at the Grey Cup. The Bombers are literally one play from winning over Edmonton and Calgary in half the games they've played them this season. The Esks defense will kill us. The playoffs are a whole different thing than getting thru a long 18 game marathon of a regular season.

Not if it means a blowout & the chance Willy could get hurt again. I want Willy back only after a complete off season of rest & recovery so he's ready to go next season full speed.

I've never seen a linebacker play up so close unless he's showing blitz. But Hurl lines up on the DL ass almost in the gap he's covering. Looking at the Esks defense, all their LBers are lined up 3 to 4 yards behind the DL making their reads & flowing to the football on run plays.

No way Garney Henley should have won that award in 1972. Mack Herron led the CFL in rushing with 1,527 yards & a bunch of touchdowns. I don't think Henley got even a thousand yards receiving for Hamilton but he was retiring so the CFL media gave it to him which truly was a travesty. I remember the shock when Henley's name was selected. Losing that award had lasting consequences as it turned Herron into a crackhead & heroin addict destined to spend decades in jail after he washed out as a player in the NFL. Sorry, I kid. He already was into drugs as far back as a teen in Chicago. He threw his career & life away.

Because that is the system they are running. It's all about keeping OL from getting to the second level and forcing cutbacks. Bass is basically your MLB in the way you're thinking of it, the guy chasing the play. He's been a beast once he adjusted to the width of the field and figured out how to get on the right side of the play to make tackles with his inside shoulder. So Hurl is a gapper & not a true MLB. Hall's system basically takes away a tackler on D as Sam sometimes can't make the play even if he knows where the ball is going away from him. Therefore, it's 11 on 11 matching man to man (not counting the qb unless he runs) instead of 12 on 11 for the defense on a run play. Don't like that at all. I want all the linebackers to be able to read & close on every play which explains why Hurl looks to be so out of position or late to make the tackle. I hadn't noticed all year until last night.
