  1. Didn't seem to be the case in BC, Hamilton or Sask this year. Happens all the time. Look at Cato in Montreal, he got figured out and was exposed. Sask was terrible despite Smith showing som flashes but he go exposed and then had Glenn to shelter him a bit more. BC Jennings is still in the honeymoon phase, that often ends like ti did with Marve here. Guys might come in and have a bit of initial success but the ones that don't see that dip are rare indeed.
  2. If WIlly had stayed healthy and Burris had been done for the year before Labour Day would anyone be saying this? Walters has to get better but let's not pretend that Desjardins did anything special. Only team in the East to have their starting qb all season, I think they're the only team to have used the same OL all year... those are huge benefits. Do you think that had we gone through the whole season with the O-line we had coming out of training camp, we would have been all that much better??? Yes truthfully. Losing the RT had a pretty big impact on things because it kept pushing people into positions they couldn't handle.
  3. All 9 of those guys would make us a considerably better team. If we don't go hard in free agency this year, I will be extremely disappointed. They've gone hard in free agency both years under Walters and signed some of the bigger names available. It doesn't mean a damned thing if you can't draft well and can't supplement your free agent additions through your scouting.

  5. The team folded like a cheap tent in the games Willy got hurt. Very few stepped up throughout the season in the face of adversity. I would say that your assessment of the team being mentally weak was spot on. I think that's more a case of simply not having anyone capable of stepping up. Denmark isn't the kind of receiver who steps up when he has more pressure. He's a great supporting player in a receiving corps, but as a guy who can take it upon himself? Not really. Closest we have is Moore and he has his own issues. The run game was never used properly to be that dominant factor, plus with the OL getting blown up as consistently as they did you could never rely on it anyway. Simply put this team needs much more talent so that there are people who CAN step up in the face of adversity. You go back to the early 2000s if we needed a play you could generally rely on Roberts or Stegall to make that play. Who do we turn to now when we absolutely NEED a play? Kyle Walters needs to get his **** together this offseason. I agree with your assessment, but I found that the defense seemed to collapse after Willy was hurt in games. No one stepped up to make a key stop either. One could argue that they were on the field for inordinate lengths of time, but they just seemed to sag emotionally and give up big plays instead of making them. Maybe if we can keep the O on the field longer the D will reach its potential. Walters does have some work to do, regardless. The D got over that when they finally brought in Nichols, a qb that at least might be able to move the chains. Honestly the bulk of the playmakers on this team are on the defense and it showed because they made a lot of plays in games late this season, but the offense as per usual pissed them all away.
  6. It was plus 10 2 days ago here, today there's snow on the ground.
  7. Healthy qb and healthy OL. Seriously if Ottawa had to test their depth would they be sitting where they are? I don't think so. Similar thing in Winnipeg, when they're healthy the Bombers are a better team than they showed most of the season (and the record does reflect that) trouble is they lost the starting qb early and for the season, they lost their RB, lost some OL, had injuries at receiver... Just no way are they deep enough to over come injuries like that. I don't believe Ottawa is deep enough to overcome those kinds of injuries either but they didn't have to over come them and they had a good season as a result. How would the east have looked if Ray and Collaros had been healthy all year I wonder?
  8. If I were the Bombers I would. The more information you have the better decisions you can make. Bellefool might be a terrible offensive coordinator but he's not completely useless as a football guy or he wouldn't get as many chances as he gets. HIs opinion isn't completely worthless, just mostly worthless. The key to making informed decisions is to consider every possible opinion and then making a judgement.

  10. How about because Davis is a raw rookie and RUSHING QBS TENDS TO RUIN THEM MORE OFTEN THAN NOT
  11. I thought the Bombers were using him as a deep threat while Edmonton was using him for short - medium range ? Edmonton is just throwing him a million passes a game.
  12. Yeah **** that guy for having a poor 2nd season! No one ever has a poor season and rebounds. Guarantee that if we move on from Lirim and he goes on to another team and rebounds you'll be first in line to ***** and moan about them letting him get away. Wow, dude. Just chill. I'm perfectly chill, but you are throwing a guy under the bus for one poor season and you have a history of bitching and moaning about players that have left this team and then gone on to do well.
  13. Well Walters was the top NI scout when Mack was here, perhaps Mack is taking too much heat from fans?
  14. His playoff performances will primarily be what keeps him from being regarded as one of the top-10 QBs of all time in the CFL. Even in the 2008 Grey Cup, he didn't play all that impressive. It was more a case of him sucking less than Calvillo in that game. 08 game was also in Montreal so it was inside a dome. For a fine example of Burris in the playoffs in the cold see Hamilton in Regina a few years ago. Guy was absolutely useless. He's the ultimate fair weather qb. Looks great in the summer but when the weather gets bad he's useless.
  15. As a shameless Khari fanboi I say bring the man in.
  16. Goldfinger is my favourite Bond movie.
  17. Well would Ottawa have been finishing first in the east if Toronto or Hamilton hadn't had the injuries they did? Ottawa's key to success this year was being the only team to stay healthy at qb and offensive line. Makes a huge ******* difference. Excuses and stats are for losers. Reasons not excuses. You'd have to be some kind of stupid not to recognize the huge advantage that being the healthiest team imparts. If you don't have to test the depth of your team it's an advantage. Calgary's season is impressive because they over came a lot of injuries, Edmonton over came a bunch of injuries that's impressive, Ottawa remained healthy and I ain't impressed by it.

  19. I liked the game from Davis. Seemed to go to the right places with the ball even if the results weren't great I saw enough to say there might be something there with this guy. I want to see him in an offense that isn't crippled by crappy players and an even worse offensive coordinator.
  20. And again it's not about being negative or being positive, it's about going full *****, which is bad. You never go full *****.
  21. The thing is you really can't compare The Penguins and Blackhawks. The hawks defence is led by guys like Duncan Keith and Brent Seabrook, the Pens have Kris Letang. Hardly a fair comparison right?
  22. Casino Royale was awesome, the other two were meh. I really didn't like Skyfall and Quantum of Solace you could tell was made during the hollywood writers strike. It is watchable but not nearly as good as Casino Royale was. I think Craig is a good Bond but other than Casino (haven't seen Spectre yet) he's been let down by the films themselves
  23. I don't know about that. A new GM might like the guy. He might not but it's not like O'Shea was a totally out of left field hire for head coach.
  24. Yeah **** that guy for having a poor 2nd season! No one ever has a poor season and rebounds. Guarantee that if we move on from Lirim and he goes on to another team and rebounds you'll be first in line to ***** and moan about them letting him get away.
  25. They can cite climate change all they like but that's just out and out lying. They're trying to protect their own interests nothing more. I hate when climate change is used as a political tool. Call it what it is, don't want competition for the American oil production. I'm not sure if that's it. I think they're just buckling under to environmentalists. Nah it's just better PR to use that reason when in reality it's all about caving to American oil interests. There are pipelines all over the US and they won't stop building them, but oil from Canada? No thanks. Score some PR points by bullshitting about climate change (a key tool for politicians these days)
