I actually think the depth is OK, it's just how the roster is built that makes is seem bad. OL I think is OK and DL again is more how the roster is put together more than anything else.

Well he's probably pretty much there anyway... which based on game 1 ain't so bad....

I also maintain that with better quarterbacking we might see more from receivers. I dunno but we really didn't see many people really bitching about the receivers after game 1. Just seems there's a real disconnect between what the team is bringing in vs. what works with collaros, yet they are so committed to collaros. I dunno feels like there's a turning point coming soon in terms of how things are being done.

So the mistake isn't so much letting Lawler go, it's not bringing in someone to replace him. I guess they thought Mitchell could do some of that, and we'll that hasn't happened.

So how hum overall numbers and inability to be consistent... and everyone is acting like we're fools for not giving the guy a HUGE payday. I like Lawler and agree that he can have a monster game but at that kinda price tag I expect more than what he gave us. Offense still was a hot mess last year. I'm telling you, you want a good offense in the cfl get a good qb and our qb is problem #1 right now.

Did Lawler make much of an impact here after his edmonton misadventures?

That's my recollection. Simon spent the 01 season in the NFL and Bruce had emerged that year.

I have always hated this description of it... it was JUST Robert Gordon, it was also Arland Bruce as a young guy and he turned out pretty good too.

Well it's also a case of a hold over from the year before, so not really new new....- Stamps at Bombers early chat
So you said acceptable offer... that to me doesn't necessarily mean asking price, it means a starting point in his opinion. Cause I remember listening to Walters year end presser last year and he basically went through a bunch of guys (including Ford) that he said we're going to be getting paid and he was doubtful they'd be able to bring them back. What we have going on here now is a disconnect between coach and GM. We got a gm willing to move on from players and a coach resistant to playing new guys. Something will give eventually- Stamps at Bombers early chat
So what that is, is Walters heard the ask from their camp and moved on. Simple as that. If walters decides a guy is going to get too much money he seems to just go on to the next. Players of course get all butthurt because they figure everyone should be kissing their feet.- Stamps at Bombers early chat
Will give case a chance, but like everyone you gotta produce to keep that spot. I am still less concerned with the receivers and more concerned with collaros and thr DL.- HAM TOR feat. AI slop
Well I'm thinking he probably gets hurt at some point and changes will be forced. Or we see more ass kickings and they suddenly realize status quo isn't going to get it done anymore.- HAM TOR feat. AI slop
Yeah collaros is being rewarded way too much for 19 and 21, one of those years he wasn't even a main factor in the game. Dude's old and not the same guy he was. He can't be the unquestioned starter anymore.- HAM TOR feat. AI slop
And the fact that for the remainder of the year Brown did more with the same team as Zach. That offseason was the time to make the big move and lock in with Brown (and have Streveler as his backup) and ship collaros and his boat anchor of a contract but for whatever assets you can get.- SNF REDBLACKS @ TI CATS GDT
So what you're saying is, guys who have only played 3 games have less stats? And Alexander a d collaros are a whole 2 yards different. Like I said, not a big sample size.- SNF REDBLACKS @ TI CATS GDT
now I'm all onboard the Collaros is cooked train, but dude has had 2 bye weeks plus a suspension so he's played 3 games. Not exactly a lot to go on.- FNF Cowboys V Gappers
**** them all but especially **** the riders.- Blue Bombers - 2025 Regular Season - Discussion Thread
My condolences- Bombers at Stumps GDT
And like I said, if Eli isn't better... then time to move on and find someone else because kolankowski for my money is the teams weakest starter and needs to be replaced 2 years ago. If that has to be by an American so be it, but let's stop wasting time on a guy like that.- Bombers at Stumps GDT
Were they? The offense was beyond useless the last 3 Grey cups in a row. Is that because they just didn't play well or was that because it was a poor roster make up for the opponents? 2023 especially we dressed 3 receivers who could barely move... how is that putting a capable team on the field? Don't let the score fool you. That it was close is a minor miracle considering how useless the offense was. Hurt collaros in 2022 and 2024 isn't putting a roster capable of winning out there either. Most games come down to a handful of plays.... give yourself the best chance to make those plays. That includes depth for every position, not relying on injured players etc etc.- Bombers at Stumps GDT
Citation needed... cause Eli hasn't gotten many reps at centre. And forget snaps, he hasn't looked anywhere as useless blocking as kolankowski has. I'll live with the occasional iffy snap vs. No pocket for a qb.- Bombers at Stumps GDT
And if we dressed some healthier receivers in 2023 maybe they make those handful of plays... maybe if an injured collaros is taken out of the game last year they makes some plays to win... Roster decisions have 100% impacted the teams ability to make the plays necessary to win the tight games. That's the whole point! When it's that close you can't afford to handicap yourself. Again they got away with a lot more in the past because they had a very strong and very deep roster, but the depth has been eroded and and starters are aging and becoming less consistent. Time is coming quickly when the roster management problems become more and more of an issue.- Bombers at Stumps GDT
And kolankowski has looked like **** in the regular season for a few years... all people want is to see if a change makes a difference because the starter is not good enough - Stamps at Bombers early chat
