Yeah they really should be using Bighill or Jefferson in that Designated Nationalized American role. Then you could effectively rotate with either another American LB or Rush end. With our current roster composition Jefferson probably makes the most sense. But if one of the American WIL/MAC types jumps of the page it makes sense for Bighill too. Secondary a little trickier since they don't really sub much among the main 5. But again it depends on who the DI's they want are. If it's a DB then pop Alexander into that DNA spot. I'm not sure he's keeping the bulk from what I've heard. Think he had a number and if no one was willing he's happy to be done.

It's just what they declare for flexibility purposes. All they have to designate for the roster are the Designated Americans, the QB's and how many Canadians on each side of the ball. They don't have to say who their starting Canadians are, they are just bound to always hit that minimum of guys on the field. Say 6 on offense, so every offensive snap you need 6 Canadians on the field. The Canadian guys would play most reps and you'd effectively have an American who can sub for anyone. Last year and 2022 in a few games they used McCrae like that. Some games they went 6 and 1 using Darby or Parker like that. A DI who is unrestricted for subs because he's essentially a "starter." Say Ford wins the field corner spot...I'm not sure why they wouldn't go 5 and 2 for flexibility considering they have Kramdi, Lawson, Thomas, Gauthier, Karamoko (who can sub for a Canadian).
-
If they go heavy front they'll both likely be out there with an American DT. They played a ton of snaps last year with 2 Canadian DL, combinations of Thomas, Lawson or Bennett, a few reps of Hansen when he was available. I'm not saying what I want. I'm saying what is likely to happen.

I don't understand your question. Say Eli is injured...our 7th OL is Wallace or an American....that guy would be the 6th OL if we're down any of our Canadian OL. They'd have to set their game roster to fit this, which means you dress Wallace if he's ready to play or you dress an American as a DI to backup. Which probably affects the secondary/LB DI. They might be able to poach someone out of cuts who could be a PR/fill in guy as a Canadian.

I don't see that happening. I could see some packages with Lawson and Thomas both out there. But like a handful of snaps in a game. With Kramdi, Ford, Gauthier there's not much reason to. Be interesting to see if Younger uses 30 fronts as much as Hall had settled into the past couple years. I'm hoping they have an 8 guy rotation on DL...but seems like that is out the window with our Global picks and lack of Canadian edge guys. All our Globals are basically WIL types. Unfortunate.

Pretty thin though if you lose a receiver, running back or two in game if you declare 6. Couple injuries means you have Augustine or Chris-Ike and Clericius/Murphy on the field every down. I know we're high on the draft picks but they need to get their feet wet. I can't see them going 6 and 1 purely for flexibility for sub packages on both sides of the ball. Canadian OL depth isn't great either. They are one injury away from dressing 3 Americans. They have the guys to play 2 Canadians on the field on D between the DL, Gauthier and DB's. They have at least 5 Canadians who are role players on D plus Karamoko. Would be nice to have a Canadian/Global edge guy though. Then you have Hallett, and special teamers if somehow you end up with 4-5 injuries in game. O just have way fewer backups. See DI's being Castillo, one returner (receiver or RB), one rush end, one DB/LB type.
-
They'll use basically everyone though. Last few years there's only been a couple guys who get almost no reps aside from extra OL. They just have to declare where the 7 starters are, offense or defense. They'll be at 5 on O and 2 on D almost certainly with tons of flexibility.

So they just burned $20,000 on that. -
There's lots of vet DE's sitting idle right now too. Jamal Davis, Costigan. Getting the right guy to go opposite Jefferson can be kind of tough. They won't want a pure pass rusher but a guy who can be disciplined. Jeffcoat was kind of a 1 of 1.

They also cut Mo Diallo who was a complete nutcase last year as a Canadian DL. Not super impactful but in the middle of a lot of ****. Pretty shocking given the losses they've taken to retirements on the Canadian side of their roster. -
I think he's done with football completely. The fact it got to the physicals suggests he showed up in bad shape.

Free Press and Sun are both pumping out 2-3 stories per day. Not too hard to find or get around paywall if you have internet skill.

The NFL doesn't even sell national rights for pre-season games. Local affiliates pick them up. The CFL fucks up a lot in concert with TSN but this isn't even on the Top 100 list.

Also the entire point of the suspension is that he's not suitable to be in the workplace until he receives counselling and shows improvement. -

Chad Kelly is on about his 5th chance to improve, accept help and counselling. If the Argos are serious he's gone and so is Murphy. Remove the toxicity or allow it to fester. Too bad he posted it on Twitter. Not giving them any traffic. He wasn't in Canada. A man who is well-versed in being emphatically full of ****. -

Pinball is constantly adjacent to scum bags. Brings in Murphy. Had a whole crew of NFL criminal losers there when he was the coach in the 00's. Chad Kelly. -

Here's something stupid: So the CFL has a Canadian QB internship program. And U Sports runs the East-West bowl, which is a huge scouting event for the CFL. And of course they run the East-West bowl on the first weekend of CFL training camps. So....a bunch of the Canadian QB's in the program are not in the CFL camps getting reps. And CFL GM's have to choose to be at their own camp or at the East-West. WHY? -

That's a pretty big penalty on Argos if they don't get relief on his bonus. -

"Cap" isn't applied at all until the end of the season. It's a salary management system, not a hard cap. The only major pro league in North America with a hard cap is the NHL. Meaning that the cap number is calculated daily within the season and if a team is over the league will automatically put on waivers the player(s) needed to make the team meet the cap number. For CFL they simply add up salary and bonuses paid Jan 1 to Dec 31 - exemptions for 6 game following the season. You could play way over the pace to exceed the limit and the penalty isn't applied until after the season and on the next draft. I don't think he's coming but almost anyone could make room. I'd bet heavily on Toronto or BC should he ever return. They'd trade or cut their current starter. -

Drummond was crazy good on the Flutie Argo teams. Other than that, basically an above average American back.
