  1. I get the preparations for the loss of Demski in the hyping of McCrae...but McCrae has shown very little. He basically got the ball twice a game. Don't buy your McCrae jersey yet. He'll have to beat out guys that are far better receivers than him and we're still a Canadian tailback team. Grant is back and McCrae was a disaster on punt return last preseason so he'll have to show a lot better to be the backup there. Won't be easy for McCrae to get on the roster. Other than handing BC a touchdown. He was plus 1 TD in 2 playoff games, but yeah he scored 2.
  2. Didn’t swear he was up from his college weight, said he looked slow as the extra guy on the edge for the CFL. He has an extensive film reel from his junior year at Maine on YouTube. And he’s only playing RT in Maine. You probably read the article about his transfer to Texas State where they talked about his versatility to play anywhere, but if you again check the film reel, he’s only in at RG.
  3. He played RG as a sophomore and RT as a junior at Maine and only played RG at Texas State.
  4. Easier to be a stand-out when the rest of your team stinks and pass rush is damn sexy. Most guys playing rush end in this league could just pile up numbers when most of the games they are playing in are meaningless. Who cares if you lose your gap and lose by 24 instead of being in your gap that play and losing by 17. Easy to be selfish on a bad team. Remember Shonte Peoples? Alex Hall?
  5. If Collaros got hurt in the 3rd game the cap relief would be his per game salary when he's on the 6 game IL, that's it. Any bonus money already paid would be counted against the cap. The CFL cap is cumulative so it's a bit different than the NHL cap which is calculated daily during the season. You could sign $7 million worth of players as long as you get under the cap at the end of the season. In the NHL you'd be violating the cap immediately and would have to get under that day.
  6. Don't have a shot at the NFL if you're not playing. Look at Akiem Hicks.
  7. Dobson mostly played RT in NCAA. On paper I would say they have Eli at C and Dobson as the 6th guy still with potential to jump in due to injury to anyone. Neufeld probably would kick to C, Dobson to guard if Eli went down. If a tackle goes down, Gray probably out to tackle, Dobson in at guard.
  8. Schoen would be the Vikings #4 receiver tomorrow behind Jefferson, Thielen and Osborn. It's really too bad guys can't sign to join NFL teams this season. They'd actually get a shot.
  9. Coaching is a profession like anything else. If someone sits in the stands and complains that they aren't getting their shot at basically the #2 job on a 10 person staff on a pro team, they are deluded. Lots of opportunity to get involved at many levels if someone wants to work their way into a job like OC. Given someone being a HOF CFL QB they can probably jump a few steps, but would never jump right up to OC. There would need to be some demonstration of competence as a coach first.
  10. Fired as an OC to hired as a head coach in a matter of weeks.
  11. We need a Canadian or Global DE or the DL rotation falls apart. None of the interior guys we have can really handle more than 20-25 snaps a game and none of Canadians are really strong playing Nose.
  12. I’m guessing the issue is more personal eg his wife didn’t want to leave her job again to relocate after doing the same Calgary to Toronto. Bizarre to take three interviews with Riders then turn them down when offered the job.
  13. So they basically interviewed their own coaching staff and Jason Maas.
  14. And his agent hasn’t opened that attachement
  15. I don’t think anyone cares that much about Liegghio the football player, or really any of these guys. The goal is to win in 2022 and if there’s a better option than they guy in any role they’ll take it. They aren’t waiting on anyone.
  16. And he puts two right down the middle of the field, one ends up being the big return. You hope he gets used to the moment the more experience he gets but sure seemed to be very uneasy in that game and West Final too. Liegghio is kind of the jack of all trades, master of none version of kicker and in this day and age with the expectations on these guys to basically be as close to perfect as possible it takes an extremely special talent (like Medlock) to fill that role. There are a lot more punters around than kickers though, if you wanted to develop Liegghio to do one job I think it's placekicking. But he doesn't have a consistently huge leg. Palardy plus.
  17. There's a whole bunch of guys on the continent kicking footballs. We need a competition next year and Mourtada isn't it. We didn't even use camp last year to get a look at anyone but Mourtada. We need a guy on the PR who can feasibly do the job if Liegghio falters or gets injured.
  18. Not sure how much NFL people watch but Schoen would easily be the 4th best receiver on any NFL team and likely a 3rd/slot receiver on most. Teams need 6-7 receivers to get through a season and he'd be on a rookie scale deal with already solid pro experience. He's not a kid coming out of college now. He's got 20 games in as a pro which is like 3-4 years worth for a fringe NFL guy. Won't be surprised when he gets signed by the Chiefs or Bills. I'm sure the Chiefs are kicking themselves right now that they don't have him when they look at their current depth chart with Hardman down too. He'd probably be the X receiver on that team this week.
  19. I can’t believe teams that are capped out because they have expensive receivers and QBs already aren’t all over Schoen. It’s stupid to me that guys can’t join NFL teams immediately. If they could 100% a team like the Bills would sign Schoen.
  20. Maas could barely run an average scoring offense with the best QB in the league at the time in Edmonton…and he’s been markedly worse with any other QB he’s worked with aside from one playoff run in Ottawa. An awful coach who probably shouldn’t be doing more than coaching QBs or maybe receivers.
  21. Prukop had a role to play in terms of widening out the D and threatening the edge. Have no problem with him coming in to run some option run stuff. Guy should not be throwing the ball. Maybe in July or August, not in November when it's -4 and grip is damn near impossible on top of all his other shortcomings as a passer. That call is unforgivable. You use him as a running QB and you don't even really need the threat of him passing because all you're doing is using misdirection to create one vertical gap where Prukop or Oliviera or Demski get a shot 1 on 1 vs a LB or DB. Our gameplan did not utilize the run enough....and that's why we lost. It's why our O is struggling in playoffs generally. A ball you think is gonna go 35 yards is probably going to go 28 or 32 and that's why you can't be safe throwing the ball downfield in November.
  22. That kick was at the line, going left and no more than 6 feet in the air. It was maybe going about 10 yards further than it would have after it got blocked and way wide. The ball is pinned in the middle of the field and the kick over 7 yards is in the gap outside the LT already. Something was very wrong with the kick right off the foot. On paper Liegghio is a good kicker in all aspects. But he’s unreliable. It’s not just one kick, it’s not just two kicks. His punting was awful in that game including putting one right down the hash mark to set up a big return and the go-ahead TD. I can’t imagine a coach having a lot of trust with that player as in feeling confident putting him on the field really ever. To me it’s very similar to Hajrullahu’s final days here except the stakes were so much higher for Liegghio’s screwups. Maybe he needs to focus on one job and at the start of this year I would have said punting but now I might say placekicking because his punting was very erratic this year too.
  23. Maybe if we can play all the games in domes or Florida. A few reasons. Injuries is a big one. Next, Stanley Cup playoffs. To me the 14 game season showed me that 14-16 games is plenty. There are some teams that want more inventory and more teams that are having trouble putting 15,000 in the stands legitimately for the majority of their games. 16 games would be fine. For the most part the playoff races are done at 16 anyway.
  24. With our returner having a 102 yard TD.
  25. Zero interest in Oakman for me. He got moved around the field at will. The other DT for the Argos was killing us.
