  1. I think we have a pretty glaring need on D, secondary but really any spot where someone could fit as a backup/rotational guy. But it doesn’t necessarily have to be the draft or the first round pick that remedies it. Also depth at RB/Receiver where we probably want to maintain 3 starters. Anybody who ever enrolls at the university level goes through the draft. He was at Guelph right out of high school.
  2. Kind of surprised Edmonton paid Dunbar and Lewis. Honestly think they would have been better off with someone like Bailey or Tim White if they wanted to spend next to Mitchell and one of Dunbar/Lewis. I think that'll be fairly easy if he's healthy. BC doesn't have a QB. Sask has a QB that will hit 70 percent of his 4 yard passes. Calgary has Maier who isn't likely to hit 300 yards a bunch. BLM is done Masoli is done Montreal doesn't have a QB Who knows who Toronto has at QB
  3. This draft will be very interesting. There's about 10 guys that are probably NFL players for how long that last for them. Will be interesting to see how far they drop. Bombers could be a team to take a swing on one of them in the first couple rounds. There's also a lot of depth in the draft, and Canadian depth in general around right now. The draft is pretty heavy on linemen both ways and LB's. Not much for "skill" guys. Not sure if that makes those "skill" guys more of a target early or not. Korte-Moore is a great pass rusher in Canada West. I think he'll be gone before the Bombers pick. He's a guy that probably isn't quite good enough to get the NFL look, but might I suppose depending on his testing. He's an end from UBC, kind of hard to judge him because OL play in CanWest hasn't been great last couple years. Most of the guys who will be CFLers on the line are his teammates. Don't think he'll play anything but end in CFL. Anthony Bennett, Regina by way of FLA and will qualify as a national. Great rush end in Canada West, on lighter side but could be one of those "ratio breakers" and certainly a guy who will be able to be in rotation. Let's just say though he feasted on shitty teams (like the Bisons)...didn't do much vs Sask. Bemiy from Southern Utah might be gone earlier than the Bombers pick too. Probably available right away. Kind of a Sayles type. Would be able to rotate inside and outside. I watched Seguin at UND a lot, he transferred to another FCS school. Another inside-outside guy but I think likely to be a 3-technique guy in CFL. Obiang out of Texas State, where Dobson finished up, is an interesting one. Nose tackle type. Will be interesting to see how he tests at whatever pro day's he does, don't think he's participating in any of the Canadian combines. Sambu out of Maine, again where Dobson played until his last year, played a lot of OLB, stand up end. Likely to be a solid special teamer, probably like a 4th-5th round pick, came from a prep school too that a few of our Manitoban players who ended up down south went through. Bonhomme out of South Alabama via Indiana via the prep school circuit, huge recruit, another guy who played with a bunch of Manitoban kids in prep school. Stand up end type, played all LB spots in States but bet he's a rush end up here. Could be a great value pick mid draft, think he won't get NFL look. Schmekel, another Regina guy, greasy looking guy, big but agile, nose tackle type, dominant career in Canada West basically from day 1. I think he'll kill a lot of guys at the combine 1 v 1. Bison guys: Kornelson...not sure he's a DL in the CFL. Think a team might turn him around to OG. He's got the OL body. Probably run about 5.6 at the combine. Francis...3 technique type in CFL I think, played weak end for Bisons, basketball guy, got BIG later in high school so he has pretty good feet. Could be another turn around candidate to OL. Viner-Cox...tweener 3 technique type, played a bit of both for Bisons. Not sure he has the explosiveness to make the jump.
  4. Caleb Evans would be a great add for us as a 2-3 QB. Great with the designed run stuff.
  5. Moore is a great value play. 2nd year off ACL. Edmonton building the right kind of core around Cornelius. He's a quick game guy, not going to sit in pocket and make reads.
  6. There's no ******* way they play politics with players like that.
  7. The Rider fans are going to be even more upset when the Bombers sign the one receiver free agent they might want back.
  8. There also is no "cap." It's stupid hockey fans who don't get that every other "cap" is much different. For the CFL it's completely cumulative. A team could have contracts signed today to pay out potentially $8 million in 2023 but they aren't over the cap. It's all tabulated at the end of the season and you have to end up under the number based on the bonuses and game cheques paid out. NHL you have to be under the cap daily and would have immediate consequences if over...the league would literally start waiving players to get a team under the number.
  9. You can worry about age and how many teams a guy has played for, everyone else will worry about winning.
  10. Key now will be finding the next Kongbo in terms of that rotational Canadian on the DL. Could really be DT or DE. Quite a few in this draft coming up both NCAA and CIS guys, also have Lawson. Kongbo will be overpriced when he comes back for good. Need to get Maruo back or replace him with a Canadian or Global too.
  11. Being Masoli's backup is basically a starting job.
  12. I get the preparations for the loss of Demski in the hyping of McCrae...but McCrae has shown very little. He basically got the ball twice a game. Don't buy your McCrae jersey yet. He'll have to beat out guys that are far better receivers than him and we're still a Canadian tailback team. Grant is back and McCrae was a disaster on punt return last preseason so he'll have to show a lot better to be the backup there. Won't be easy for McCrae to get on the roster. Other than handing BC a touchdown. He was plus 1 TD in 2 playoff games, but yeah he scored 2.
  13. Didn’t swear he was up from his college weight, said he looked slow as the extra guy on the edge for the CFL. He has an extensive film reel from his junior year at Maine on YouTube. And he’s only playing RT in Maine. You probably read the article about his transfer to Texas State where they talked about his versatility to play anywhere, but if you again check the film reel, he’s only in at RG.
  14. He played RG as a sophomore and RT as a junior at Maine and only played RG at Texas State.
  15. Easier to be a stand-out when the rest of your team stinks and pass rush is damn sexy. Most guys playing rush end in this league could just pile up numbers when most of the games they are playing in are meaningless. Who cares if you lose your gap and lose by 24 instead of being in your gap that play and losing by 17. Easy to be selfish on a bad team. Remember Shonte Peoples? Alex Hall?
  16. If Collaros got hurt in the 3rd game the cap relief would be his per game salary when he's on the 6 game IL, that's it. Any bonus money already paid would be counted against the cap. The CFL cap is cumulative so it's a bit different than the NHL cap which is calculated daily during the season. You could sign $7 million worth of players as long as you get under the cap at the end of the season. In the NHL you'd be violating the cap immediately and would have to get under that day.
  17. Don't have a shot at the NFL if you're not playing. Look at Akiem Hicks.
  18. Dobson mostly played RT in NCAA. On paper I would say they have Eli at C and Dobson as the 6th guy still with potential to jump in due to injury to anyone. Neufeld probably would kick to C, Dobson to guard if Eli went down. If a tackle goes down, Gray probably out to tackle, Dobson in at guard.
  19. Schoen would be the Vikings #4 receiver tomorrow behind Jefferson, Thielen and Osborn. It's really too bad guys can't sign to join NFL teams this season. They'd actually get a shot.
  20. Coaching is a profession like anything else. If someone sits in the stands and complains that they aren't getting their shot at basically the #2 job on a 10 person staff on a pro team, they are deluded. Lots of opportunity to get involved at many levels if someone wants to work their way into a job like OC. Given someone being a HOF CFL QB they can probably jump a few steps, but would never jump right up to OC. There would need to be some demonstration of competence as a coach first.
  21. Fired as an OC to hired as a head coach in a matter of weeks.
  22. We need a Canadian or Global DE or the DL rotation falls apart. None of the interior guys we have can really handle more than 20-25 snaps a game and none of Canadians are really strong playing Nose.
  23. I’m guessing the issue is more personal eg his wife didn’t want to leave her job again to relocate after doing the same Calgary to Toronto. Bizarre to take three interviews with Riders then turn them down when offered the job.
  24. So they basically interviewed their own coaching staff and Jason Maas.
  25. And his agent hasn’t opened that attachement
