What’s the crisis? Almost none of those guys would have started or even played in a CFL game this season….and they’ll be in the 2024 draft. What you’re saying is like saying the NHL would be in crisis if they moved the draft year to 19 from 18. A far bigger issue is the quality of American players coming in. Guys aren’t going to come in young as they have so many options to stay south. Also anyone at a Power 5 school is getting paid as much as they will in the CFL to play NCAA. They aren’t broke anymore, they can bide their time in the States that much longer. On the other hand the CFL will get guys that have been in the US minor pro leagues and are used to being a pro. It’s just a change.

Okeke, Flory and Chiu are the only ones who were ever best at their position for a significant period IMO…but the Hall of Fames tend to just be acknowledgement of guys who have longevity. That line started getting exposed pretty bad in the back half of that decade when Calvillo lost mobility. A lot of the most sacks given up in a game and season on them 06-08.

Hot take here but I think it’s likely long-term the Als move West to a somewhat more accessible area of Downtown Montreal to a shared stadium with a Montreal/Concordia CIS teams. Quebec City is also an option. The current situation can’t go on much longer on a money-in, money-out cash flow basis with the lack of available revenue at McGill. They’ve got the right owner now who can align government with his empire to get things done…has a strong history of doing that.

I think it’s a lot more strategic than the Canadian draft. They’ll have a sense of where they want guys…basically D and OL. If you have guys that can replace a DI it’s pretty huge for letting you use those slots elsewhere…like potentially on a kicker if that’s the best option, extra receiver or back. Hansen and Maruo are already solid role players on D. The other French dude we picked was fine as a fill-in on special teams.

Sanford is way over 300...think he was about 350 at the regional last year. But hit more than 8.5 feet on the broad jump so an athletic fat guy. Played both guard spots for UBC. Tackle length, guard core.

I'm not sure why they spent money on a centre. That's the only spot they had a good player between Clark and Bandy. Blake is a solid guard, Ferland probably the other guard (meh) Bandy might be ok, Godber at centre, total question marks at tackle.

There's on a couple of CFL free agents I could see the Bombers having interest in, but will be heavily dependent on their willingness to play and play cheap/incentive laden. Bouka, DB national, you'll mostly know him from Sask. Has been a reasonable safety, played every position in Sask in that mess of a defense, would basically be here to cover kicks and provide depth, guy has a nose for the ball too, could see Richie Hall enjoying him being a ballhawk and a guy who can play all over. Coleman, American DL, veteran, has been one of the most disruptive guys in the league in his prime pre 2020, but appears to be well past it. Would be looking at him to be a rotational guy, play both inside spots, and play cheap with no guarantees. At this point he might be retired or looking into US spring leagues. Otherwise it'll be guys coming up from the US and draft picks.

Like who? Willing to go on record that in hindsight you think MOS should have coddled Hajrullahu and not pursued Medlock? Seems to be who/what you're hinting at. Or are you talking about Rob Pikula? 🤣 Liegghio will be the option until there's a better one, and if he remains inconsistent he forces their hand to look at other options like they did with Castillo in 2021. There's no time to "grow" now. It's year 3 for Liegghio and he's on a team that expects to win. We know what Liegghio is capable of (especially as a punter) but like all positions on the field if he can't consistently meet the basic expectations and meet the standard he sets for himself too his career will be abbreviated.

2022 scored 30 points a game and punted 5 times per game, kicked FG/PAT 5 times a game, kicked off 5 times per game. The only players on the team who touch the ball more than Liegghio are Collaros, whoever is at centre, Benson and sometimes Oliviera. They won't get too far into 2023 watching Liegghio struggle on place kicks again and we have the DI spot easily for an American kicker.

Boateng is garbage. Sure situational rusher, but to have his name in the same sentence as a guy like Jeffcoat who is the top TFL guy in his era, as well as top pass rusher, as well as a guy who drops out and covers as well as any LB in this league...silly. Embrace the fact that you'll get to learn some new names. Not sure why so many people lack confidence in the exact same group of personnel people who have rebuilt this roster year after year with great players.

Maybe, but Moore plays the 3 technique spot which has never been an issue. There's no shortage of guys coming from the US who can pass rush well from that position, I wouldn't spend money there. The weak spot has been the nose without Richardson. The nose spot in Canadian football basically doesn't exist in American football. Their nose tackles are required to have basically no mobility so you're converting a 3 technique guy who's played that his whole life or if you're really lucky you find an extra athletic nose who is a bit smaller like Richardson.

The high end guys got paid. Everyone below that didn't. Look at who is still unsigned. Agudosi played one game and suffered a tib-fib fracture in the 2nd game. He's still a prospect, not much more.

Nevis has played one football game since the 2019 Grey Cup. I get that people know his name but it boggles the mind that anyone thinks he could shore up a DL spot at this point in his career. If you bring him in you're hoping he can contribute in a small way. You're not counting on him even playing half a season, it would be a depth move.

They will be all-in as long as Collaros is playing. That's what having a QB is like...I know we don't really know the feeling.

Unlikely to have a better player for 2023 or 2024. Most of the high end ones are going to chase the NFL and the ones who will be players immediately will probably be gone at our pick. Hamilton might be tempted if we give them a couple picks between the 1st and 3rd rounds.

There's a crapload of 3-4 type veteran American receivers on the board. Adams, Ambles, Bailey, Jorden, Rogers, Walker. Toughest part for most of them is that they think they are more than that. Not going to help any of them get paid.

Rhymes has to be a little careful. He’s a good player, not an exceptional one. Given the list of veteran receivers on the market still he’s not irreplaceable.

Schoen won't get anything extra unless he adds years to his deal. Wouldn't be surprised if he got bumped up to the 110-120 range this year with a 2 year 500k extension or something like that with 50 percent guaranteed in 2025. Not sure why the concept of a player being of more value than guys being paid much more than him is offensive.

Edmonton has more than replaced Lawler too. They are the only ones who can talk to him after today.
