Here’s the reality with Nichols ... he had a better than average (for him) night and tossed up three balls that were good looking - one to Lawler for a nice little gain, one to Woli that was just not executed and one to Matthews that the CGY DB made a good play on. Rest of the game? Safe garbage. So predictable. Not scaring anyone. Not stomp on your throat, smash mouth, prove you can stop us, not nothing. Equal parts LaPolice and Nichols go into the conversation of why our O is so inept, but no matter what blame you wanna place where, the reality is our offense sucks. Matthews didn’t forget how to play wideout, Lucky Whitehead hasn’t suddenly just forgotten how to be a weapon ... etc, etc, etc. We don’t use our weapons. If Grant doesn’t put two in the end zone tonight, we lose handily. Our O has been **** for a minimum of three games and the combo of play calling / QB play is showing absolutely zero signs of improvement. We may finish 13-5 but this year is not going to be a Grey Cup year. as an aside, I always find it funny that people will crap on Willie Jefferson and justify it by singling out the odd notable play here and there when he isn’t elite but they’ll turn a blind eye to how atrociously mediocre Nichols is. -
Just here to make my weekly “Matt Nichols is absolutely atrocious” post

There’s no doubt in my mind that Nichols is being elevated by the players around him. So sick and tired of the constant checkdowns, fear of getting hit and inability to put the ball in the right spot. His accuracy has been absolutely pitiful this year and we’ve paid pretty dearly for it when you think about it - he got Matthews destroyed on a long bomb he hung up for way too long, he’s had Whitehead, Wolitarsky and Lawler contorting their bodies to make what should be easy catches and taking some good abuse for their troubles, he’s almost gotten Lawler killed across the middle on two separate occasions ... he’s making the easy throws look tough and the tough throws look impossible. I honestly think the last time he dropped one right in the basket was to Demski against Ottawa. That doesn’t absolve LaPolice either though. Call a play that allows for a slant route once in a while, good grief. Open up the playbook and call a game like you brought your nuts to the stadium for once. Absolutely gutless football and it doesn’t make me sick because it means we’re 5-2 today, it makes me sick because it’s the exact attitude that never gets you a ring.

That is who he is though.
-
our offense has absolutely zero heart, starting with that idiot under center. Absolutely zero ability to step on a teams throat and destroy them. Pathetic. if we weren’t 5-2, this is the kind of game that costs a QB his job.

lmao

Really though what are you on about? Nichols is absolutely abysmal lately.
-
I honestly think I’ve seen Nichols hit one receiver dead on in three games. everything is behind, ahead, above, below ... he is ******* terrible
-
Nichols is absolute dog **** say what you want about the rest of our team, we’re not winning a ring with this uninspiring doofus under center

That one always makes me laugh. Two random bloggers who have some of the worst takes imaginable.

Don’t know where to put this, but I went and watched Wolitarsky’s set at Earl’s tonight. First off, he was actually super good. Second, him and Streveler were super stoked that my buddy Ray and I had their jerseys. Thirdly, Matthews was there and looked very unstabbed. Good turnout - Strev, Demski, Willie, Stove (played a couple songs), Lawler, Sayles, Humes, Speller, Lucky, Rose, Nelson (walking boot) and Petermann all showed to support.
-
don't love it.
-
I’d stick Sayles or Rose on Banks all game and let them go at it. We can’t get into a lot of situations where they move Banks around to work on Fenner.
-
To be fair, you did paint it as something that was going to cause him to get cut
-
It’s exactly the place I would’ve guessed if you’d asked me to guess where a Bomber might get stabbed. Anyways, hope Matthews is alright. Find it interesting that nobody is in here eating crow after all of the sarcasm directed at the guy who broke the story here.
