  1. There's dooming and being realistic. No team in the East looks like world beaters right now, but coming off back-to-back losses and starting your back-up QB... who in their last start threw 3 interceptions and had to have the D/ST provide 3 TDs to sneak out a win at home... doesn't install a ton of confidence to be fair
  2. oops this is my bad. By this I meant, he was on the roster last year and is still there this year... i think he took a hair cut this year too Last year was Lawler - 280K Schoen - 230K Demski - 225K Wilson, Wolitarksi, Clercius, Wheatfall... all probably making close to min This year it started out as Demski - 225K Schoen - 170K Mitchell - 150K Sterns, Case, Cocoran, Clercius, Wheatfall... all those guys probably right around the minimum. Not sure how Wilson is slotting in here, maybe he is taking p some of that 180K that Lawler and Schoen combined vacated last year There is a source though... it's Ed Tait. He said it was torn, not partially torn. Do you not think that that is an important designation to make? Generally with football you hear 'partially torn ACL' and it is QBs or Linemen... not a WR who has to run up and down the field making constant changes of directions and speed.
  3. I don't think the Bombers were hoping to replace Lawler with TWO receivers. Schoen was already on the books, hope he is 2022 Schoen and that replaces Kenny (whoops) Sign Mitchell, hope he gives you 2023 Schoen like production (whoops) Sign a position of need... Needed to replace Bighill so come on down Jonathon Jones (whoops) Mitchell and Jones salary slips nicely into the hole created by Lawler's departure... But neither of them could crack the roster for... Reasons
  4. For sure, there are a million and 1 things that we aren't exactly privy to that can affect a player game to game. Collaros being injured in 111, and Lawler being almost last man standing in 110... and then obviously his first year was 107 so can't put too much into it. He had a fantastic game in the West Finals last year... but Collaros looked vintage there as well... so much symbiosis between WR and QB. 2023 he had similar numbers to Grey Cup 110, 2021 he had similar numbers, same in 2019 but he had a TD there. Obviously having a player like Lawler on the team would be a huge plus but cost and usage definitely a factor. He had 4 seasons here and he was at least inconsistent in his availability. You can see where the thought process would go with a high priced receiver... can't keep on the AR all year and an offense that is in clear decline... It looks worse because he is balling out this year but he is leading the league depth yards targeted and the Bombers are living right around 10 yards past the line of scrimmage... is that because they don't have someone like Kenny or is that because the Bombers are rostering QBs that can't push the ball down field? Probably a bit of both. Maybe as a fan I give the team a bit more rope than they deserve... Lots of people like to clamor for Dru Brown... did the front office completely bungle that or in the 3 years he was here did they decide that he would be unable to stay on the field with the way he plays... Would the last 2 years be any better with Brown as the QB with his inability to stay on the field? CFL definitely isn't as transparent as a lot of other leagues and we are left to fill in the gaps... part of the fun I suppose
  5. Grey Cup 107 3/52 Grey Cup 108 3/41 Grey Cup 110 3/77 Grey Cup 111 2/27 Not exactly game breaking numbers. The whole thesis of your argument is it must have been a partial tear or else it would border on negligence to trot him out there... so why wouldn't the team's #1 media hype man specifically call it out that it was a partial tear and everyone agreed he could try to play through it and unforunately he ended up fully tearing it... but the reporting was essentially he tore it in Calgary and after a stint on the 6 game IR they tried to give it a go but he couldn't play through it so they are shutting him down
  6. Walters and Kenny seems like the Hervey and Eugene situation only Walters remembered not to say the quiet part out loud. Of all the questionable roster decisions and signings (and not signings) Walters has made, I'm not sure not signing a 31 year old WR who hadn't played more than 2/3rds of a season the previous 3 seasons to $300K/yr would crack the top 5
  7. What a weird **** measuring contest this is turning out to be. I'm not sure where 'Partially torn' is coming from, From Ed Tait's reporting No mention of partial tear in Calgary. No mention of completing the tear in Saskatchewan.
  8. I didn't notice that Reavis was fined already this season for a high hit on Rourke. So probably the case that this is almost entirely a repeat offender thing no?
  9. https://www.instagram.com/p/DOgRiryDbSQ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link Ted Goveia has passed away
  10. Riders are definitely experts on diving at unsuspecting players knees illegally so maybe this is just game recognizing game
  11. When you are on the ascent or riding out the peak sure... 2018-2023 you can take those moral victories as either learning experiences or players going to be able to lean on their experience and right the ship... 2024 and on when your team is who they are, or the voices who can right the ship are in clear decline and holding on for dear life... not so much
  12. I think coming up short consistently against the best teams in the league (0-5 so far if you are keeping track) should provide a greater impetus for trying to improve the roster... not holding pat
  13. 2 wins in the last 5 games, both against a back up QB (and in the case of Montreal the back up QBs back up back up) and the Bombers decide to trot out the same old, tired DL that has failed to generate any meaningful pressure in over a month (only 3 sacks in those 5 games). Maybe those 9 LBers on the roster will help with that?
  14. The depressing Strev stats for me are: He is 9/17 on passes more than 20 yards in the air and his total yardage on those plays is... 198. 5 of them are TDs so they won't count some yardage, but that is the lowest average of yards per pass at that depth in the league... Collaros has 20 completions on passes that distance for 742 yards which is about 37 yards per completion! Collaros also has 6 runs of 10+ yards to Strevelers 1. He also is the only QB in the league who has multiple interceptions in the red zone. His INT percentage when he gets within the 20 is 28.5%. The next two closest are Masoli at 11% and Crum at 6.7%
  15. I can't tell if you are saying that Arbuckle has been average or he will maintaining his current average but looking at the game logs and geez; 6 Straight games of 300 or more yards passing, 14 TDs vs 2 Interceptions. If the Bombers were getting that level of QBing they'd probably be the prairie team sitting on 10 wins.
