  1. I winced every time I saw Thomas and Schmekel(?) together in the middle of the D-line. Putting them out together could be ruled a coaching dereliction of duty.
  2. I think that many on this forum would agree that Hogan, even giving him the "rookie benefit of the doubt", feel that he should be relieved of OC duties. I realize that Jackson has a checkered record but given his experience and the fact that he was a QB, I'd be leaning toward him as a replacement at least for the duration of the season.
  3. A view from the cheap seats at McMahon. Actually the cheap seats turned into pretty good ones at the 40 yard line. (lots of empty seats to move to): A very promising start was followed by a disheartening finish. I didn't see much in the way of adjustments by the Bombers coaching staff. Calgary's staff made enough to win the game. How much rope does Hogan have? Officiating left a lot to be desired. The Bombers were a little undisciplined at times (especially special teams) but I thought the stripes were wearing red. When Demski is the go to guy for long passes, we are in trouble! Mitchell looks smaller than his roster height listing. Even Wheatfall looks like a waif out there. Receivers look tiny and slow. DBs looked tiny and slow beside the Stamps receivers. Wait a minute, they were hardly beside the Stamps receivers. The wind was a factor in the 4th quarter so the Bombers' tall foreheads got that decision right and it almost worked. There's more to be said but it was very discouraging. Third place.....maybe. Is a crossover playoff spot a possibility? I don't think there'll be a home playoff game so there will be revenue missed. Maybe it'll be a wakeup call for Miller and he'll start the ball rolling on making changes.
  4. When Demski is our only long ball threat. WE ARE IN BIG TROUBLE!
  5. I have my grandkids with me here for distraction.
  6. Signing in from McMahon. O play calling is offensive. At least we have the wind in the 4th. Sigh.
  7. In Calgary to visit family (They are transplanted Bomber fans.) so we'll be at the game cheering on the team. (Cheap seats and then we'll move to better ones. It is McMahon Stadium after all.) I think our D will adapt and play Adams and Co. better. I am really concerned about Hogan's game planning and play calling ability though. Go Bombers Go!
  8. An old fart of a Bomber fan here. Sometimes you can tell a lot about a person by the way they carry themselves, the way, of all things, they wear hats. Go back a page and check the headgear on the three coaches. O'Shea...very old school, kind of mature, I think. Younger...he's getting there. When he first started, his cap had a really flat, straight brim and more often than not was pointing askew. Hogan...well, I'll leave it to you. And, throw in the sunglasses. IMO, he's a young, arrogant guy who, this early in his career, thinks he knows it all. At this point, he's not going to admit a mistake. IMO, he called the wrong play for the situation. Too bad he's not mature enough to accept even part responsibility. I fear that the O is in for a long, unproductive season reagardless of the talent on the field.
  9. Agree with you about the re-upping of Collaros. That was more than a head scratcher. As for the OC position, it certainly appears that Hogan is in above his head and his dog paddling isn't working. I'm assuming that Jackson was brought in as a mentor but I'm thinking that he'll assume the O reins soon. His CV is a heck of a lot better than Hogan's.
  10. The hack part was a step too far but how do you justify this "one of the greatest writers the CFL has ever known and a dyed-in-the-wool Bombers fan"? It's pretty hard to be an objective writer when one is a big fan and then throw in that he's also on the Bombers' payroll, at least that's my understanding?
  11. My 3 Stars (Champs): 1) Special Teams: the difference in the game, IMO. They're playing with more discipline now although that illegal formation penalty on Castillo's last FG could have been costly. Vaval is improving but has got to be reminded about protecting the ball (shift from one arm to the other as required). And, I like his smooth stride and sneaky good acceleration and speed. Although he shanked one, Sheehan is punting better. That's a couple of illegal kick-offs by Castillo this season. Still like his leg though. Although the difference last night, there is still room for improvement with STs. Oh yeah, what the heck was Cooley even doing on the roster? 2) The D-Line: They have dramatically improved since there have been more rotations. Jefferson looked like he was in his prime last night. And, where has Person been all this time. I watched Thomas closely when the cameras made it possible and I still don't get the coach's infatuation with him. 3) Nick Demski: The guy attempts to do it all and for the most part does. He's a gamer. He's even protecting the ball better this season. (He should have a little chat with Vaval.) However, being the go to guy, he's taking a pounding out there. Can he last the season? My 3 No-Stars (Chumps): Jason Hogan, Jason Hogan and Jason Hogan: If they haven't already, the offensive assistants should ask for a meeting with O'Shea. The TV took a verbal assault from me last night at some (most?) of his play calling. Aside from that stupid pass that was INT'd in the end zone, can anyone explain to me why on those plays where Streveler handed to Oliveira off-tackle, he stayed parallel to him instead of going wide. (One of the pxp guys commented that Streveler was throwing blocks for Oliveira on those plays. Really? Right, get another QB injured.) There was literally no option for Streveler to pull it and attempt to scoot around the end. My Honourable Mentions: Sterns (good), Streveler (bad).
  12. Love Demski but he's going to get hurt.
  13. Agree and he'll never get it done. The game isnt "slowing down" for him.
  14. They won't unless Streveler gets hurt, but I'm onside with you.
  15. He should not have thrown that one.
  16. I don't care how bad our receivers are but this crap is on the OC.
  17. Hard to be positive with this play calling.
  18. That's at least twice tonight that he was beaten badly. I'd sit him right now. Wahatever sub couldn't be worse.
  19. We're on trouble with this punter, too.
