  1. Scroll up a few posts so I don't have to say it all over again... Again, my OPINION. You certainly like to tell us yours.
  2. Surprised you missed this... http://3downnation.com/2017/05/08/cfl-teams-play-big-role-new-canadian-soccer-league/
  3. I'm not denying anything. It's the CFL's decision & they can do what they want. I just think it's a mistake. We are having a discussion here.
  4. Yep, this is a league initiative. I may be in the minority here but the CFL has plenty of issues they need to address first. Starting up a soccer league & diverting league funds into this is a mistake.
  5. CFL teams aren't money making machines. As I said, not every team makes hundreds of thousands in profits. Having to extend themselves operating a brand new league with such a thin bottom line doesn't make business sense to me. How many fans do they expect to show up? Twenty thousand? They'll be lucky to attract 5,000 a game into their stadiums. Like I said, the CFL really needs to concentrate on growing the CFL game in their own cities. Winnipeg averaged 22-23,000 in a 33,000 seat stadium, Montreal's attendance is dropping. Toronto is a frigging wasteland. BC Place has the second tier of seats curtained off. On tv, the Lions games look like they're playing in a closet, The atmosphere at BC Place looks bloody awful. Calgary is stagnating & after blowing the Grey Cup the way they did will be lucky to average 24,000 in a 35,000 seat stadium. Edmonton plays now in a half empty CWS. So sure, ignoring attendance issues with 7 of the 9 CFL but teams spending money growing the game of soccer while game day attendance drops make absolutely no sense to me.
  6. It was the same 30 years ago. Lots of people played soccer, especially the little kids who in the spring are on the fields everywhere. I just remember the Canadian Soccer League being a total failure even though thousands played the game. My question is why does the CFL want to take on the risk & become involved in a new Canadian soccer league? Some teams can barely pay their bills now. I don't understand the logic for the CFL to become involved here. The CFL needs (based on all the empty seats in every stadium) to grow the game of Canadian football, not soccer.
  7. Number 1 pick.
  8. This is true.
  9. Anyone else lose the TSN feed?
  10. Biggest difference between them is the level of play. Faith Ekakitie has played at a much higher level the past 4 years than Simonise has. Better coaching & much, much tougher competition. Simonise played against 18 & 19 year old corners in CIS & junior. Faith has played against NFL ready offensive linemen.
  11. That we can agree on.
  12. I wouldn't. Not ready.
  13. Probably. As well as Herb Zurkowsky & Drew Edwards.
  14. He always was. He & his agent thought otherwise.
  15. Yeah. That is so true.
  16. Will Sask be happy with him? That's the question....
  17. Might take awhile for Henoc to get his CFL legs back... I wouldn't say he's done just yet.
  18. Maybe Muamba decides to leave again?
  19. Don't hate the guy but some of his decisions & actions, well... He needs to mature a lot quickly or he'll end up losing the opportunities he has. The door to Opportunity only stays open for a short time.
  20. The Argos could share IGF with the Bombers & we'd still sell more season & game day tickets than Toronto does at BMO Field.
  21. When the Fury played at Canad Inns if they got 6,000 it was a great crowd. At the same time it'll never work if they play at Pan Am Stadium. The Bombers want another tenant to defray operating costs so if it meant playing at the old stadium next door they'd never be a part of any soccer team coming to Winnipeg.
  22. I'd pick Gray at 6. Like it was said, he got a $5,000 signing bonus which means the Packers will see what he does at OTA's & training camp & go from there. There isn't a huge investment by the Packers in the kid. Besides, if the last pick in the draft is Mr Irrelevant what does that make players signed as FA's after the draft?? So, I'd take the guy as he's a local product who played at the U of MB before someone else did. Not excited about the Elkakite selection if that is what we do but it may be the best decision Walters makes under the circumstances.
  23. Let's get back to the draft. Will fans be happy if the Bombers select Faith Elkakitie? Is he the best player available? Should the Bombers still pick Gray at 6 if he's available?
  24. It's right next door but who would go to a game in a run down 50 year old venue like that that seats 4,000? Has any money been spent so it has been at least a bit refurbished? Does minor football & soccer use it?
