  1. That monopoly was great in the 1990's when the CFL nearly folded. The CFL would have been dead without the CBC broadcasting games in the 1950's as well. Times change & it's also time to move on from a damned single cable broadcaster tbnat does an absolute shitty job promoting the league. No free agent coverage. No CFL awards coverage. Complete **** broadcast of the CFL draft. No one reporter from TSN covered the biggest CFL news story of the off season with the ownership change in Montreal. Dave Naylor is too busy creaming his jeans about a couple of Canadian twins at Illinois making waves at their pro day yeaterday. And bragging how a record number of Canadians will get drafted by NFL teams. (Maybe it's time to abolish the ratio if more & more Canadians are playing in the NFL). Farhan Lalji is out there somewhere. God knows where. The two guys paid to cover the CFL are too busy covering the NFL Combine & pro days to care. I like Naylor as well so I'm prepared to cut him some slack. I'm so so on Lalji since his man crush on Nathan Rourke so I'm pretty disaapointed with the coverage on the league's "flagship" network today by these two. I'm constantly underwhelmed with the coverage TSN provides the CFL.
  2. I'd like to see TSN's hold on the CFL Englsh broadcast rights challenged as well, having a monopoly may have made sense in the 1990's but not today. No, I'm saying he could if he wanted to. Even as a member of the Centre of The Universe, Bluto you are loved. That's an extremely hard take.
  3. Smith backstabbed Fergie to get the GM job with the Jets.
  4. Bronfman could probably build it himself.
  5. It's never as good as the doctor will make it out to be. But it's still a helluva lot better than what you're going through now
  6. I think that was Mike Smith.
  7. The Bronfmans are trying to build a baseball stadium to get a MLB team back. Looks like things are just kind of in limbo with that project. Nothing like a billionaire to put $$$ into a new stadium that could hold baseball & football.
  8. I wonder if Paladeau will build a new stadium for the Als? They really have to get out of Molson stadium. Also, is Paladeau the first French owner of the Als since Leo Dandurand & his 2 English buds Eric Craddock & Lew Hayman in 1946?
  9. What's with the Argo guy's right arm & wrist? He has 2 hands on one arm.
  10. Let's talk.... CURLING!!!!
  11. I just don't give a ****. We are mired in mediocrity as an organization which starts with Chipman. Chevy seems to have free reign to do what he wants which is virtually nothing. I've heard that Chipman is a meddling owner & maybe he vetoes trades & moves that Chevey wants to make. is it true? I have no clue. I'm just so disengaged with the team from years of disappointments. It's so hard to be a fan of this team.
  12. Yes, it was the same for me in the mid 70's.
  13. So have a lot of people. TBH, I don't care if he kicks for us or not. He can try getting to the NFL till he's 55 if he wants. I wish him all the best.
  14. I used to regale myself. Especially after a game in the bar lamenting that shot that got away from me as I missed the broom. There were more than a few of those during my career.
  15. I couldn't believe it myself. Kids in Alberta have no clue about Canadian history. My youngest actually read up on our history over the years & knows quite a bit about it. So, where does he end up living? Seattle. My oldest here in Calgary doesn't care about Canadian history. Knows nothing about & doesn't give a ****. Ask him about Vimy Ridge or Dunkirk & he knows nothing about it. The Alberta Conservatives took Canadian history out of the curriculum many years ago. Interesting that the NDP didn't put it back in when they had the chance.
  16. We loaded up on offense this off season If Schoen has another big year he'll demand a big payday or he'll be gone to another CFL team. He may try another kick at the can in the NFL. Either way we'll have to pay. What will that do to some high priced veterans? I think some older players will be retiring or moving on. That will open up some more cap space to bring in some defensive players into the mix.
  17. That's my point. Isn't it up to the canadian educational system to teach students about our history?? People aren't going to suddenly wake up at age 35 wanting to know who Wilfred Laurier was. Or what was this jet fighter in the 50's our Canadian engineers developed & Diefenbaker killed at the strongly urgent demands of US President Dwight Eisenhower?? Those things are just getting washed away in the rivers of time.
  18. Proof? What proof??? Why would I lie to prove a point here? What you're asking is impossible to do.. That would be like asking for proof what the Grade 12 curriculum at Churchill High School in Winnipeg was like in 1968. I worked at Centennial High School in Calgary for nearly 10 years as an Educational Assistant. From 2005 to 2014. They had no history courses available to students back then, They had one Geography class that studied the rise of European Nationalism. I wanted both my sons to have studied Canadian history but there wasn't anything they could take. Other than that, it's all I can tell you. Same thing at Lord Beaverbrook with my older son.
