  1. Pavel Bure used to buy cigarettes from me back when I worked at a gas station in Vancouver. Camels.
  2. Well, you can count on Crawford getting another head coaching gig, so it likely will spread a bit.
  3. Me too. Yes, he was funny to listen to but I bet, at my age, it would not be as entertaining. Ah, Dickens Cider. Good times. I hope they find a good replacement for Lawless but boy am I going to miss his insider information. It was good and consistent. CFL and NHL.
  4. Without "cultural appropriations" every culture will stagnate. Without cultural appropriations, we don't get Elvis. Why can't we have Elvis and Chuck Berry?
  5. Disney did put out a Oz film recently.
  6. Police officers are now require so much training and education, they are white-collar workers (or, are paid like it) but all these blue collar responsibilities remain. If not cadets, we need a layer of staff, below officers, that can perform these types of tasks. Union will not like it though.
  7. I haven't dug backwards through this thread but has anyone watched the Last Kingdom? I started watching last weekend and am now almost through the first season. I'm really enjoying it but am really short of sleep. I'm very curious how season 1 will end and where it will go in season 2. I'm also curious when season 3 will be launched on Netflix (but fear doing a search over spoilers).
  8. Interesting that they still projected him a late round pick, despite all his "faults". I like the pick-up, if only for TCF. Maybe he sticks around on the PR and develops.
  9. I honestly don't think it hurts Pence too much to defend him. At least, no more than anything else attached to this administration. When everything falls apart, he'll just stand there saying he's "been lied to and is shocked about all the evidence." The GOP will circle their wagons around him. He'll survive until an election.
  10. Theoretical question: Would you trade Schneider for Helle straight up? Salary/cap dump for Devils. Instantly makes the Jets a better team for 2017/18 but puts a roadblock in front of Comrie for the future.
  11. Fact is, we can't move for anyone until after the expansion draft. There will still be veteran goalies available after that via FA or trade.
  12. And, we put in a Import RB. Not a big issue. And if the Esks are starting Augustine, I'm certain we'll be in better shape.
  13. I don't necessarily agree with the assessment. How can the Lions have taken the second (?) best receiver two spots earlier than the best receiver and, as noted, may have already reached his ceiling and still be praised for the pick. To me, that's a miss and, it's a miss on their first pick. I'm not saying Hodge's analysis is correct, just question the rationale of putting BC on top when they didn't get the best available players. BTW, I trust Buono's analysis more than Hodge's. And not giving WPG top spot because they didn't take a receiver? Well, maybe they didn't think any of the available receivers were better than what they currently have. It's not as though you need to draft people in every position.
  14. This is really bad news. I hope he gets better really soon.
  15. Agreed. And given that we'll have the next week off to prepare for the West Final, I think we run out all our starters!
  16. Wins is not part of the calculation, so how can wins be a driver in QB Efficiency?
  17. TSN was saying that they were looking at Bladek or Judge at 2. If they got both, you can't blame them for the pick because they got both. Now, whether their analysis of these players is good is another story.
  18. Wasn't his quote something like "most talented player left on the board"? Very odd comment. Surprised they didn't take Behar, actually.
  19. Wally did, what Wally does - puts together a solid draft. Maybe the best. I'm surprised that he took Vandervoort. I would have loved to have seen the expression on Austin's face when that pick went down. Walters and Wally won the draft by getting the first and third overall picks for a very low (no?) cost. The Riders made some very odd decisions, IMO. They need NIs to play now, not in the future or maybe never. We'll see how well Jones did by the end of the year.
  20. I didn't know that. That makes more sense. But, boy, oh, boy, I bet it will be terrible. I still haven't seen the Disney version but I heard really good things about it.
  21. The stories were published in 1894. I don't think Disney owns the rights to Jungle Book, I think it's in the public domain There are plenty of adaptations of the story in film and TV that are not Disney. It does seem very odd for WB to be making this movie again.
  22. And he's coming off a major injury. Popp is obviously still a believer.
  23. I feel bad for the owner. He puts a lot of money into that team. That being said, he extended Murray and let Bylsma get a long term deal. It's going to be an interesting locker room next year. EDIT: Maybe it's Troy and Jim that all the shots in Buffalo?
  24. It's still privately owned but it is operated by the WRHA. I'm wrong.
  25. Pan Am Clinic is privately owned and has an MRI machine.
