What I noticed is that his kicks looked straight, which tells me it's an angle thing. You can correct that easier than ones that hook or slice. Although, that was from observing on tv, so not the best angle to view from.

Honestly, it's just MOS saying, I trust offence to move the ball, regardless of field position, and I trust my defence to hold them. In the CFL, field possession is everything, unless you're the Bombers and you make your own field position.
