  1. Right? Soo short sighted. It makes this feel like they were never committed to the global player thing working. For sure. Makes total sense to have these guys come in on a discount seeing as most wouldnt get a look other wise. Right? I feel like the global player system is just starting to take off and poised for great success in the next few years. For once it seems like the CFL has ahead of the curve on this and then they sabotage it. When the waves of talent really start getting better, and they will, we may have to increase the first contract to cfl rookie levels. That risks us having guys who are too good as globals but not good enough as imports. 100% would dress hansen as an imp. Idk if he wants to renounce his status though. If I was him I wouldn't. He should be proud of that, he's the best football player to come out of the global system.
  2. 3dn has an article about Hansen helping ethnic minorities who were being discriminated against escape Ukraine. What a great person but it details why he is on the verge of retiring. The Bombers had a 2 year deal with him and the league vetoed it because it was above the salary limit for globals. They are capped at 11k less than rookies. If they sign him to that deal he has to renounce his global status. What a joke.
  3. Yeah that's why I said a Charles Nelson. We seem to struggle with finding good or decent returners
  4. Jessie luteka hurt himself at the nfl combine. Could see a kongbo esq fall now. Great player and athlete hope he's healthy soon.
  5. Blake Jackson was the toast of tc and on track to Start and has returner stuff. Demski should only return if it's him or a Charles Nelson. Qft. But kr is pretty easy to scout too. In the end I think Grant will be back. Right now dedmon is the only vet kr worth serious money.
  6. I don't think he's elite. He is world's better then the rest of the crap we've had for a bit. And he is very good. They probably made a flat offer and are busy with every thing else going on. No one else is going hard after him either.
  7. Yeah I was surprised at that
  8. Gray and Eli as back up OL has been an insane luxury. 8 other teams in the league would kill to have either start for them.
  9. One of my greatest bomber memories. Those were hard days to be a bomber fan leading into it. So this crazy once in a life time karma was just beautiful. One of my favorite bomber DEs. He was such a joy to watch play. I thought he was going to be the next joe montford. Under sized but just soo good and soo much stronger than he looked.
  10. Agree. It'd be cool if they tied the idea from the antler helmets into shoulder pad pin striping or some thing. Even just the EE gloves with antlers would be cool.
  11. I really appreciate the people pushing new, independent media outlets for CFL fans. From your podcast, to darren bauming, to some of the great stuff 3dn and 3 down development are doing. Seems like every time I see 13th man sports and the other facebook one it's always low quality articles. I hope they continue to grow and get better but man some times its almost as bad as TSNs PBP.
  12. What a gem. This guy plays all the teams and isn't just out cheating and head hunting. Some great away from the play blocks and discipline. Classic mafia ni pick up.
  13. 100% I'd bet a sizeable sum that he is back and in tight contention for the vacated guard spot. Imo if its between gray and eli, eli wins the spot.
  14. No. The us has 125 d1 football teams and the top few big names schools like bama do. But even that isnt not drastic because they dont pay players. Also no. A small handful of guys each year step into the NFL and do what they did in college at the NFL level. But even with the level of athleticism and talent in the ncaa, execution and parity are low. The 3rd wr on nearly all d1 teams are either poor athletes with good skills or vice versa. The 5th guy on every nfl roster is a very good athlete and has good skills. The difference between top players in d1 and top players in the NFL looks small, until you see how much polish goes into position coaching in the NFL. You can dominate college as a great athlete with bad skills. You can't in the NFL. Because the depth guys are very close to the top tier guys. The depth guys in most d1 programs aren't very good. Its not bad behavior or low football IQ that has guys fall between the cracks. Kurt warner wasn't any of those things. Tom brady would've never got the chance to start on 20+ nfl teams. Every year tons and tons of guys fall between the cracks for no reason other then they dont get enough reps to show what they can do, and improve. RB for instance. The deepest position in all of football and north american sports. Lots of guys have no problems but will never get enough of a look. If every Imp rb in the cfl was gone tomorrow never to return and they had to be replaced, the talent level wouldn't drop off at all. He was supposed to be a shoe in to start before he got hurt. Imagine that now, would they have packed it in with darvin? would it have cost bailey his spot? Says an awful lot about what he can do. Can't wait to see what he does in camp and pre season this year. Having a 2nd camp could help him jump start his career and shorten the rookie-sophomore adjustment period.
  15. Def not a first. Maybe a 2nd or 3rd if we see a combine work out warrior like butcher inzandt etc. We will 100 percent take an ol in this draft maybe a couple with late picks but this is a very weak very thin crop of ol prospects. The mafia are never scared of having too many good Young nis. So db would be a good bet. I could see 1 dl 1 ol 1 db 1 wr and 2 guys who project as early teams contributors.
  16. Low key good pick up. Very versatile college guy who played wil s and dime. It's nice depth for camp.
  17. With Bailey ellingson demski and woli I don't see us spending 100k on the 5th wr. I could see us trading up to draft a Philpot to go behind woli and demski too. Some one to compete with orange. It's not a good ok draft this year. And the top guy luketa will be a 3rd or 4th round nfl pick. The Philpots will probably be the big gets.
  18. This is a really interesting video about QB prospects. It's about NFL qbs, but a lot of what he's talking about directly relates to how it goes up here. And especially seems to line up with how the bombers pick prospect qbs. The TLDR of his process is that he considers Raw tools more important that mechanics, coachability over polish, and the right destination are whats important. Basically the entire time we've had the mafia here our developmental QBs have all been extremely high potential under developed guys. Most not getting more than 1 or maybe 2 decent years at college. A lot of guys who transfer from a big program to a small one and find some success. Instead of the guys who throw for 10,000 yards, start for 4 years, and throw 90-100 tds we get guys who throw for maybe 4 or 5k with 1 big production year. No surprise that the FIFO mafia look for guys they can develop. Its hard to change a guy who has been a star qb for 6-8 years between HS and college. And by nature, cfl teams need to be able to mold players to fit our league. And having a guy whose skill set fits what we do is instrumental. We all saw Streveler languish in a system that never used his skill sets well. We never utilized his athleticism to set up other facets of our offense. Stuff you see the ravens do, like running qb power off a play action counter, or fake the draw, or use a jet motion option play etc. I think that speaks a lot to why Collaros was able to succeed and turn things around soo quickly here. It'll be interesting to see how Dakota develops here, and what kind of 4th guy we bring in for camp.
  19. And most of the guys in these leagues aren't even former ncaa failed stars. It's mostly guys who never lived up to potential.
  20. So the usfl drafted a db under contract with the stamps. They claim to have rectified this after the fact. But now the db is mad at the Stamps for not letting him go. The usfl has put the cfl in a position where they need to take action. The db is under contract to think he should also be eligible for usfl draft is idiotic.
  21. Wouldn't be the first guy to be unsure of what he was signing but it is strange. He was pretty happy to be drafted soo high by the Bombers. He'd easily get twice up here what he'd get down south. More impact full is them drafting cfl players. Even low interest guys make a critical contract precedent. Idk the guys picked but or if they were just free agents or what. But I smell a contract rights court battle.
  22. And moncrief too. And then still added the most of any team at the dead line. The Bombers don't have a bad deal on the books imo. Vs virtually every other team having a bad deal.
  23. 100 percent he has a war chest. He always socks away cash for tc nfl cuts and the pr expansion. They always are conservative with funds early in the off season. It's very rare to see a good deal come out of the first few weeks of free agency.
  24. I'd love that to be the case. And I can see them kicking tires on remaining guys like huff if cheap. But in the end I think they like blake and McKnight a lot.
