I'm glad Woods is in, and that Person is staying on. Also glad Kornelson is off. I hope we give both Woods and Person decent snaps this week. Person has seen a snap dip since our DLs best game. Adding Bailey and Adams will slashing Thomas' reps would be the dream, but we all know that won't happen. I doubt it; the extra reps will slide to Vaval and Woodbey. No he hasn't but his reps have been slashed drastically after the first few weeks he got in. We've been stuck on running 3 canadian DL on half our snaps for over a month now. That's the real issue.

https://3downnation.com/2025/09/26/cfl-fans-start-petition-to-delay-rule-changes-call-for-two-week-blackout/ Don’t usually expect much from these type of petitions but it won’t hurt -
First 3 passes go for TDs. Nothing less will do!

imo, you have to build around what you can do. Hawk tackling practice is done with out pads, then I think you have to run a lot of really fast, timing skelly drills. then when the pads are on you gotta do a ton of one on one and group drills with the lines and wrs/dbs. We try to run regular offence and you have the qbs who no practical rush throwing deep on guys they know in side and out. If you want to run rpos then you really have to put in a ton of reps. it’s gotta be bang bang stuff so the guys can make mistakes immediately correct em then drill doing it right. I guarantee if you watch the als O practice you’ll see a lot of this stuff. But our OC has never been an oc above canadian hs I want to say? he’s struggling just to adapt to doing the oc job little on how the nature of practice is now. Hes so far behind the curve as an oc, he might struggle to get that job as a hs level again any time soon.

I think that’s why you do go to the pa though. It’s divisive changes that you need to consult over. a change like, each team has their own side line, doesn’t need discussion it goes with out saying. The game has 3 stake holders. the players, the fans, and the league. one side making sweeping large scale changes with out consulting the two is how you kill your market. Even if it’s what I suspect in the worst case, that we are a couple years away from being a 4/5 team league with no tv deal, being open with the risks would garner understanding and positivity. As it is, half the player base is pissed, and a huge portion of the fan base country wide is pissed. I think they could’ve gotten people on board for more of the changes with a more transparent, inclusive approach.

Auburn actually brought the single wing back for a hot minute 9 or 10 years ago.

Neuf is also turning 37 this year, and the biggest part of the rules won't start until 26—there's very little chance he'll play long enough to see them. One guy caring than others isn't much of a point either.
-
he had an excellent, maybe his best game manager play before being hurt. Hogan for sure is a problem, wrs have been one but I think are solid to good now. the ol has been all over the place. As long as kola is in it isn’t gonna be great but it should be good enough. if they’d put Vanterpool back in it’d be better but they won’t.

zachs right that they didn’t change any of the most important parts. but they did just about every thing under that. They have no place to go now but into the critical territory. I bet they had their new stats place do it. which means the info would be worthless lol. Agree, we see far more punts and far less fgs. I don’t think we will see any significant bump in tds. If they really wanted to boost scoring, which we don’t need to, they could formalize new blocking rules. it’s all over the place in terms of enforcement, but far far from the rules currently. -
zach has 3 games with less than 10 completions this year, so maybe he completes 9 and we win again?

Who owns the stadium in Mcgill though? They aren't exactly hurting for money either. Toronto is already far below pro standards in their cis accomoditations, you think they are gonna bend over backwards to support the arogs? The OSU teams aren't gonna care about the west either. This is some pretty terrible cherry picking and dare I say, goal post moving? -

Yep, and Usports. They should've tried to get a bunch of the Usports teams trialing this change before us if any thing. -
100%. I wonder if Sterns goes in at Wheatfall's WR spot, or if he goes back to slot and Mitchell finally bumps out to the WR spot? If the fit with him is as bad as it seems with zach/hogan/the offence, maybe we put some one like Wilson at that premium spot. Wouldn't mind if Echols got the look and sterns got an extra week to recover and prep for return. Haven't heard about Clercius but that looked bad, so I'm guessing corcoran goes in and cobb comes on. Wish we'd shake up the DL.

Tbh, most of those people aren't even big NFL fans. Every big NFL fan I know is interested in football all over. They'll watch the state HS championship game, lots of ncaa games, and the odd cfl/spring league game. The ones who are stuck up, are pretty casual watchers who generally bandwagon hop to who ever is dominant. One of the big reasons why the NFL is the dominant sport league in north america is they've figured out that it's as much about stories for most people. Thats why they keep a true level playing ground and you don't see pandering to the mega markets. The NBA hasn't figured this out at all and struggles because of it. That's part of what makes the CFL great as well. While they love to pander to the argos and lions, and the riders, those teams aren't at significant advantages. (unless ricky ray is in the league) It's a league where every team is basically a small market team, even in big markets. The rivalrys run deep, and the connections between the teams do as well. What the CFL needs to do, is get the real heart of these stories out to the public more. Things like what Rourke said about the rules is great for this league. Even MBT calling out the BS of the schedule a year or two ago. Young fans don't want old school football where you play for the logo on the front with no name on the back of your jersey. They want to see all the color and personality. Football in general is hard to get to that at the pro level. If we drilled down to that and shared it, fans would come. Thats why last chance U did soo well, the human element and drama. Same with ESPNs old cancelled football show playmakers. -

It will put a whole lot of pressure on them for sure, but that is going to happen any way with the clock being started automatically. I bet it will be a gigantic mess the first time any team goes into hurry-up/no-huddle, and when it's late in a half. If the clock is running and the O is lined up, the ref crew will have to rush to set the play. The refs are going to have a big big adjustment in this. It's been pretty slack for a long time. Same goes for when they huddle up after a play to figure out if they should've tossed a flag when they didn't. -

With the upright change, and FGs basically being XPT range or Hail Marys, If I was a coach, I would be practicing the on side punt every day and start running it out. If you're on the 40-25 and looking at a 46-yard field goal or longer, and if you have to go more than 5/6 yards to get a first, the onside punt will make a whole lot of sense. The automatic time starts as soon as the previous play is blown dead, which could allow an effective hurry-up or no-huddle team to paralyze defenses. I also don't think anyone is really looking at the slower game/teams either. We've seen lots of 5-8 minute clock eating drives in the past. plays that keep the clock running, with slow teams (like us) will take a lot more game time, rather than making the time it takes to play the game longer. I could see Quarters where you see 3 or fewer possessions. Especially if you are grinding a drive from deep in your zone. No it isn't. But I think this is a stepping stone. Some one said we are frogs in a pot of water and the element has been turned on. I believe this is a move to prepare the fan base for far more americanization of our game. Why would you push this through part of the approval process, not bringing it to the PA or the rules committee or CIS, this late in the season? If this was the main chunk of changes you were going to make, and you really thought it would make the game better, you would announce this during GC week. If you didn't think it would go well with fans, you would do it right after the GC. I believe the UFL came calling, and I think we will see more news of this nature or of merger/joint partnership etc with them before the start of the next season. Either GC week, or before free agency. -

He is, but this wasn't run through the full rules committee. It was just to the BOG/prime movers league wide. Not surprised in the least either. He's as purist as it gets. And yeah, he's the last guy to want to change and adapt to the game. I 100% believe that and expect that here. They act like qbs don't throw over the middle because of the uprights, defences take that away and force you to try and throw the wide out. WRs have used the uprights countless times late in plays for picks on DBs and get open as well. They drag across the middle then catch it just past the hash mark. Yep. Teams will punt from the 40-45, and even if they go for it 30-40, that doesn't mean scoring will increase. It just means drives will go 3 plays longer. And we will see a massive hit to red zone efficency between the rediculous FG range and back of the end zone chopped off, will only lead to more stalled drives. I'm not sure Wade is really on board with all the changes. I think the league is quickly becoming unviable financially for half the teams if not more. I bet the BOG was brow beaten in this, some thing like, its either this or in 2 years it's a 4 team league with no tv deal. -

Good on rourke, agree with him. Madanis article is putrid. https://3downnation.com/2025/09/22/opinion-the-cfl-finally-delivers-big-with-changes-that-will-make-the-game-pop/ Wade supporting it isn’t a surprise but still a disappointment. But it sounds like they didn’t consult usports at all which is criminal. https://3downnation.com/2025/09/22/blue-bombers-president-wade-miller-calls-cfl-changes-positive-step-insists-they-will-not-impact-bisons/ This is what we get for having a tsn cronie run the league. -

I bet the difference is modest for us, but very impactful for teams. Some teams, like us, really struggle to get the calls in quick enough. Other teams run tempo very well. This will yield an advantage, but how much and for who is tough to gauge. I think the teams that run tempo well will always benefit though. It's one of the better scenarios we could have ended up with when they talked vaugely about drastic changes. That said, I don't think the changes are going to have the impact they for see. I don't think the game will be any more exciting, we wont see more TDs, and we will see significantly more FG attempts. They thought long and hard about the hash mark move. And really believed it would juice up scoring a lot. It did very briefly, then Defenses adjusted and it only made O vs D more stale. I also think that this will only lead into further changes after 27. -

was he one of the people who said it was a done deal with the xfl too? It’s honestly been too long. Mid season announcement, I expect any changes put in place to kick in next year. this could be the last grey cup under proper rules if people are right. I sure hope not. -

league needs to make drastic strides to be more profitable. but short of selling out fixing that is a long hard road. Teams need to take action to grow their market. not many are doing a good job of that. But hamilton, ottawa, montreal and bc should all be able to turn a profit as well. edmonton needs work, calgary needs intervention, toronto needs a miracle.
