  1. how are they going to score from their own 45? If your banking you are going to hold them to a FG then why not just bank you can keep them out of FG range and give up 2 instead of 3. As I mentioned their previous 2 drives they had a combined 19 net yards of offense and 2 punts so its not like we were recently scorched. I get fans don't like to give the other team "free point" but imo giving the ball to the opponent on your side of the field is no different and should result in more than the 2 surrendered, which it did (7). Would we have stopped them on their side of the field? who knows... But if we ignore the hindsight of the end result, I certainly like the idea of trying to hold the riders out of FG range vs trying to hold them to a FG. Mathematically it makes more sense to give up the 2 and try for the same objective, stop them. If we can't then we deserve to eat the points.
  2. I agree they shouldn't, but if it's required I'd rather have a kicker who can make them instead of cheaping out for one that struggles. Crapinga hitting that upright gave me some flashbacks to Harjrullahu smoking the pole vs Edmonton the year before and costing us the win. I remember leaving that game pretty f'n dejected that when it was announced later we signed medlock I was so ecstatic I may have done a jig or 2. Sure it would be great if we could sign great players to low contracts but that just doesn't happen. Not really sure what other kickers make on average to compare Medlocks salary, but I'd say he's been worth every penny maybe even more
  3. With the increase in better talented NI players in other more traditionally import heavy positions, such as RB, DL, LB i think the value of NI OL is becoming more subjective. If it's not as dire to start X amount of NI's on the line, then there's no reason not to go cheaper with an IMP if the production is equal or better. I honestly think days of playing 5 NI on the OL are done.
  4. 175K being compared to 240K or 260K is ridiculous. That's basically a whole other salary somewhere down the chart. I had no problem paying him what we did then because we needed a clutch kicker. Since we acquired him he set a CFL record for most FGs (passing Dave Ridgeway btw). I think it's a telling about our offense that he had to kick so much, but he made those kicks and has single handedly won us games kicking like 8 fgs in 1 outing. If that's not worth the $ then I don't know what is
  5. 1. Loss of Derek Dennis, leagues best OL last year. 2. Cordarro Law - Out with a broken leg, was one of their better DLmen 3. Lavertu has been banged up early. Can't remember what OL went down last game but their back up also looked like he got hurt during the ottawa game. 4. Messam is getting older. And while 32 isn't super old, a guy carrying that weight certainly speeds up the drop in play. He hasn't looked good so far in the past 2 weeks
  6. no love for the Miz splitting his pants? that made me laugh. what a ******. I finally see why Heyman does the majority of the stick work for Lesnar. God he has such an unintimidating voice for such a big dude
  7. and that's where I believe starting them on their own side of the field = less points. Sure you give up 2, but they have to work for more. Also worth noting the previous 2 sask possessions they had a total 19 yards net offense and punted both times.
  8. https://www.bluebombers.com/2017/07/04/bombers-unveil-cal-murphy-statue-investors-group-field/ I for one, hope it's a statue of him fighting off zombies too
  9. I'm having a hard time with this argument. You put the trust in your team they can stop the riders from our own 43, but don't trust them enough to stop them from their own 45?
  10. they would have to work a lot harder starting from their side of the field then from the bomber 43 where they started from on that punt pretty much guaranteeing 3+ points
  11. I wonder if the riders would reach out to Burke like they did with Etcheverry last year in some kind of consultant role. I'd take Burke's advice over Etch's all day every day.
  12. Reinebold is the current DC of the ticats, which got pretty lit up vs the argos. I bet they are going to miss Steinauer tremendously this year. I wouldn't mind seeing what Burke could do with our D, but for all his scheming drawbacks, Hall does seem to get a lot of turnovers with what he calls (winning yet another turnover battle sat night) Wish we could have snagged Khari Jones for OC when he left Hamilton. IMO he should be the next man up for a HC job
  13. yep. I've said it a few times a while ago over at RF that Chris Jones has all the makings of Mike Kelly era in riderville, especially with the huge divide among the fanbase. In 1997-98 the internet was still relatively young so I doubt there were many if any Internet forums back then, just call in shows, I wonder what kind of divide there would have been with Reinbold? IMO by the time Burke took the reigns many fans were already exhausted from years of frustration and fighting, Maybe Lapo getting us to the GC in 2011 help cool the fire a bit, but there didn't seem to be as much bickering when Burke was HC other than people disillusioned with the IMWT tenure
  14. I voted for Kelly, even tho results should say Reinebold, simply because Kelly was atrocious as a Coach, GM and as a person. I often compare the DD to Glenn situation in Saskatchewan with the Glenn to LeFors in Winnipeg. Just a bone head move that will likely be their downfall
  15. guess we will have to show em on friday just how loud we can get. Can't wait to toot my horn, rang my cowbell and rock the new denmark jersey
  16. Andrew Harris
  17. I said in my first post we were starting to march the ball again (with success) so I don't know if we would have settled for a FG if we needed a TD to win. I understand why we took the 3, because that was all we needed. So yes it was the right call. curious can you kick a single in OT?
  18. if they make the kick, were definitely playing for the TD, but I expect we still run the ball (likely on 1st down). I think Rider would be playing prevent D to avoid getting burned deep so it should open up the ground game.
  19. yep, I think the Hamilton beat down last year was the only game they really played 60 mins and were clicking on all 3 phases
  20. I remember a time last year when many people, even after we went on that 7 game win streak, didn't give the Bombers much of a chance vs BC in the back to back games. We came out of the gate and punched BC right in the **** with some trick plays and strong start. Sure we let them back into the game (they were a good team after all) but after all was said and done with beat them both games. We also nearly beat Calgary in Calgary last year after a slow start. So i'm thinking how we start will determine if it's #ForTheW or #BeatTheTraffic
  21. if you had a medlock kicker (Which many rider fan ridiculed us for paying $175k to btw) you would likely be 1-0-1 right now because the only kick crappy missed was that 2nd OT kick for 3, which we would have matched on our next drive. Though we were starting to march the ball again so who knows how that drive ends up instead of just centering the ball for Medlock, but I think it ends up a 43-43 tie
  22. im really getting F'd in this so i'm going to say Harris next game
  23. I think the raptors resigned Ibaka recently too, I think Carol might be done in toronto at some point
  24. I dunno Lowry was hurt, or missed quite a bit of games, and while not huge difference, DeRozan still had better averages with 14 more games played. I'm not saying Lowry is an awful players, but honestly he can't carry a team on his shoulders regularly. And while he was hurt I thought Cory Joseph played relatively well in his stead. Not as flashy with the numbers but held his own. I agree tho the raptors needs to make a play. Lowry and DeRozan have a pretty good 1-2 punch combo going for them and would suck to ruin that. Just not sure I'd have paid that much. Somewhere on the team, it will suffer due to this over payment. And if DeRozan was only making 26.5m last year, he will likely demand more in the future than Lowry got now
