Yeah.. Fauchi did keep it quiet. Fauchy was still saying America had nothing to worry about at that time.

2019-20 Grey Cup Champs Off-season discussion.

They got Streveler'd! -
So much for the argument that Trump was wacky to renegotiate nafta on the precipice of Canada being a national security threat.
-
I would think it might lead to fewer CFL only fans and more CFL/NFL fans in Canada.
-
Its nice though to see veteran players standing up for rookies. You should listen to how Chris Walby was treated by vets as a rookie. A lot has changed.
-
Its a very unfortunate situation for the finances of my individuals and owners as well. When it comes to rookie compensation we need to understand also that 8 out 9 of them will be making at least one playoff check because it sounds like this proposal is based on an expanded playoffs. It will suck for rookies no doubt. However, many rookies in the past have been willing to come home with nothing and just sit on the practice roster in hopes of getting an opportunity in the future and I don't think there will be a max exodus of rookies should this proposal go through. Those who don't want to come and play for that I think we can all respect that and they can ask for their release. However, they will have no problems filling those vacancies with other rookies who also have upside.

This is a NHL rumor but could have pretty big implications on the CFL. No idea if there is any legitamacy to this reports but it talks about how the NHL is considering permanantly starting the season later to avoid having to compete against the NBA. https://www.hockeyfeed.com/nhl-news/rumor-nhl-looking-at-making-permanent-changes-to-the-regular-season?ref=sidebar This is something that could really benefit the CFL down the stretch and into the playoffs and the Grey Cup her in Canada.

I just feel like we have bigger things to worry about than who’s gonna he calling the games if we actually have a season.
-
I’d take that over someone who has no idea how football works like Rod Black.

The CFL has now asked the Spring League for a proposal. Can anyone wrap your brains around what exactly the Spring League is proposing? Their message on what exactly they are offering the CFL has been convoluted.

Not wrong. Truely, not overwhelming health care services is what it is all about at this point. The social distancing strategy may very well increase the long term infection rate because that will give the virus time to mutate into other forms. But if you get so many people with the virus at one time you are unable to save the 20% that you can save by using ventilators. Delaying the spread also gives you time to test medications that can potentially lower death rate as well. I think 5 years from now if we could go back we will likely have done something different. I understand why they don't want an honest debate about Corona Virus but it still rubs me the wrong way.
-
The death rate is much lower than 2%. This was confirmed recently with antibody testing in New York which showed that over 20% of New Yorkers had the virus already. Most of whom showed no signs of it. The reporting on deaths is also slanted towards the scarier side of reality. Its still bad and should be taken seriously. But actual death rates is going to be at most 0.5%. The media simply doesn't want to have an honest conversation about what's going on because anytime somebody states that its maybe not as bad is it is being made out to be there will be people who decided to neglect social distancing and will put more people at risk.

The bombers would struggle through this time but certainly they would not go under. Teams like Edmonton, Saskatchewan, and Winnipeg would be able to survive with the stabilization funds they have. However, the rest of the league is going to have trouble surviving.

Can we make it to the end of a draft without drafting an offensive lineman?

Perhaps he’s this year’s Eli!

There's nothing wrong with it at all especially considering the federal government has already agreed to big bailouts to arts and culture and alternatively have bailed out mastercard. The Government made decisions that have put many people and businesses in an impossible situation. If they are going to dictate to people and businesses that they can't operate then they need to be willing to cover the losses.

Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL
Colin Unger replied to wbbfan's topic in Blue Bomber Discussion
Wow. With Vince not paying out coaches money they are owed i view it as the XFL is never coming back. Last time around he at least paid everyone for the full first season to leave the door open for a return at some point. -

If we are looking at a situation where the entire season will be lost personally Id like to see the league look at playing all games in front of empty stands somewhere where the players can be isolated similar to what major league baseball is considering. The teams would save a lot of money on travel costs because you could rent apartments for all the players and there would be no travel costs once you go the players to the area of choice. Teams could lay off event staff, much office staff, and slash football operations salaries for one season. TSN I think would be willing to pay something extra right now to help make this happen because they are so desperate for content and have a vested interest in the survival of the CFL. -
Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

It might not take a bailout so much as grace periods. Winnipeg for example has already had the loan written off but they continue to make payments every year out of public good will. Perhaps Winnipeg would simply not make payments for a couple of years to mitigate losses in one year. There are also opportunities to give tax breaks and such. I feel the government has some level of responsibility here since it has been their decisions that has resulted in forced closures of many businesses including pro sports. I don't think the public is going to have much of a problem with these types of measures since the result of not allowing for grace periods of payments or temporary tax breaks would likely result in these tax revenues and payments going away forever. So there's no loss really. -
Vince McMahon considers move to bring back the XFL

The CFL has many advantages that the XFL does not have in terms its' ability to survive. One big factor is the XFL was just borrowing space in stadiums that for the most part already had a purpose. Nobody is going to bat an eyelash over the XFL folding. However, there has been a lot of provincial, municipal and federal money invested in the future of the CFL. I believe that if necessary the government would come to the CFL's aid to avoid having been on the hook for a bunch of ghosted stadiums across the country. -
With the uncertainty of whether there will be a season and no XFL as a fallback Im surprised Derel doesn't jump on whoever is willing to give him the biggest signing bonus right now.

Ville the kid is ready offensively for the NHL but I don't think he's big enough or strong enough yet and he did stall a bit in Finland. I think he would benefit from spending significant time with the Moose playing heavy minutes and power play time. It would be good for his development. I don't think that Ville is so good at this point that it would cost the NHL team all that much to do what is best for his long term development. I think the jets will invest in two free-agents. Hopefully DeMelo and someone else. So are we a really going to be utilizing Ville on the 3rd pairing early on in the season when we could be giving him heavy ice time with the Moose?
-
I think Samberg will offer more at the NHL level this year than Heinola. Heinola should play heavy minutes and run the powerplay for the Moose next season and maybe get a few callups. Samberg is ready to contribute and add some size. Could be 6'4 220 by the start of training camp. That's an inch taller and 17 more pounds than Trouba. They all look small standing next to Buff.
-
That's would benefit the bombers given the wear and tear factor on Andrew Harris and the number of games Collaros is typically good for.
