Wheeler Buff Little. Trouba Scheifs Ehlers Armia are the only real untouchables on the roster right now.  The rest are pretty easily replaced in my opinion.

Lol. Intangibles. Cmon. What does that mean even.

You jus trade for the sake of trading then?

Pretty sure this aint a video game

I don't WANT to trade all the players I mentioned, not counting Ladd. I would given the right return though. Thorbs I wouldn't think twice about, get him and Stu off of the books.

The thing about Perreault is, how much to keep him? Are we okay with paying a guy about 4 to 4 1/2 m per season for 4 years if the youngsters are going to push him down to the 3rd line. In 2017-2018 our top six could be Connor, Scheif, Wheeler, Ehlers, Armia, and Little. Will we be able to pay a 3rd liner that kind of cash? Id doubt it. Here's short list of RFAs that come up the year after Perreault's contract expires.

    Lemieux

    Morrissey

    Petan

    De Leo

    Kostalek

    Ehlers

    Lodge

    Comrie

As well the following will be UFAs that year...

    Stuart

    Little

    Enstrom

These three equal 13m of cap hit so if we aren't re-signing them, it shouldn't be a problem re-upping the youngsters.

You dont trade your best players. The young guys are showing that they are not quite ready yet. We arnt winning games.

They need these guys to learn from. Its really stupid to start trading for picks and prospects when the ones we have havent even learned to play in the NHL yet. Do you not see Maurice changing his lines during games n putting the vets back on the ice together? There is a reason he does it and it has nothing to do with skill.

Hate to tell you this but we arnt sellers and we arnt buyers and we wont tank. That will not be the message sent to the players.

Big name players that will be moved? Ladd...Pav... maybe throw in a Postma. But we wont be moving players to just move players.

Draft and develop. You want Trouba gone and hes like 21. Hes been around all of 3 seasons and is a kid and you say thats it hes as good as he will get. Thats just krazy and not a way to build a team.

All that said....  Chevy is building a team the hard way without a doubt. You need to balance the vets with the kids and then you need to sign the kids to contracts that are friendly to the next ones that come up. Its the hard way of doing things but its also the way to build a soild team not just now but for the future.

Drafting players 8th or whatever is not a bad thing like many think. Fill your system with them while building our base is a pretty good idea.

Ill take this way of building before how Minny is doing any day. They did what you are saying we should do.

Stemp has like 1 assist in his last 10 games and was playing first line minutes.

If you want to know why we are losing.

PK sucks. PP sucks. Depth sucks. Team only plays 20 minutes most games.

Bunch of young kids with talent that arnt all ready for this yet. Not many players with talent can just jump into this gig. You seem to expect them all to.

Its not just on ice things they need to deal with its everything off ice also.

With the skill and talent we have in our system i see no value in rushing it. We have or had maybe 1 or 2 guys from our bottom 6 the same to the team this year. We are not doing any better. Even tho they are more skilled.

It sucks at times to watch but players like, Schief, Trouba, Ehlers, Copp, Myers, Lowry and BC...  its good they go thru this. They can follow Wheeler, Buff, Enstrom, Stuart, Thorburn.

They learn the NHL from them...  Then their skills take over.

I agree that no trade clauses are ridiculous and probably shouldn't exist. I don't blame Stamkos here either.  I'd still say it's more likely that he signs in Tampa

I think they should exist for sure. If a player is willing to sign a long term deal with a team he should have a bit of say where he goes if moved.

Now if the player asks to be moved during the contract then his list goes away.

He goes to whatever team his team gets the best return.

Perhaps you glazed over the discussion.  If you cant see the point then you wont ever see it, so its not worth rehashing.  But if i team WANTS to trade a player in his final year and he refuses, then yes, I question the character of the player.  No wow needed!

Hes got like zero say in any trade talks. He gives a list of teams. If non of the teams are willing to make a trade n pay him his 10milper then he should rethink what hes asking.

He seems to think he can win it all with Tampa. If he thinks that and wants to try then i think its all good. Both sides are taking a risk doing this.

His trade value to Tampa will more less remain the same but his asking price to sign with a new team might become less if he cant get Tampa a cup.

  6. 4 minutes ago, Goalie said:

Why the comparison to Chicago LA and Boston? Because those are the last 3 franchises to win the Stanley Cup.

Thats fine... And my point still is how long did it take them to get to the position? All took 6 - 8 seasons.

Asking and comparing us to them is not a sound argument IMO. They went thou the same things we are now.

  7. 15 hours ago, Goalie said:

As for when will we compete? Probably when we get a franchise Center, and maybe a younger Franchise D man, i like Trouba but i feel he's not that guy... I think part of the reason they signed Buff was because they feel Trouba isn't that guy either.. Like it or not, the way things are right now... Trouba is 3rd on the RHD depth chart behind Buff and Myers. I don't care if anyone thinks he's better than Myers, that's irrelevant, The coaches have him on the third pair. That says it all, He's not ready and he may never be ready.

If this was WWE and Vince Mcmahon came out here, you know what he'd say, He'd say it's time, It's time to shake things up a bit here cuz what we have here isn't really working.

Like i've said before, People can go on about you can't bring 2 much youth to the team all at once, why the hell not? Cuz reality is what we have now isn't good enough.

Throw the fans of this team, who BTW, got an email from the JETS today telling them to reserve their playoff tickets for this year, LOL at that, but... throw the fans a frickin bone really. We aren't stupid, we are smart hockey fans, we know this team as it currently is, it just won't ever get it done. It might make the playoffs and it will fool the less educated hockey fans in to think this team is FOR REAL, they are LEGIT but until we get that number 1 center and until we get that legit Franchise D man who isn't 30, we are going nowhere fast. Don't be surprised if Next year, we are in a similar position or the year after or after even. It all depends on what Chevy does this trade deadline and summer.

But, face it, It's been 5 years and what has Chevy actually done besides drafting a few players like every other team has and signing 1 good FA in perreault. Not much...

Let's see here.. I got the 2011 team on my wall here, Let's take a look and see what's changed

Nik Antropov? Gone. Bogo? Gone. Burmi? Still here. Buff? Still here. Enstrom? Still here. Fehr? gone. Glass? gone. Hainsey? Gone. Jones? who? gone. Kane? gone. Ladd? here. Little? here. Mason? gone. McCardle lol? gone. Meech? gone. Oduya?gone. Pav? here. Slater? gone. Stapleton? gone. Stuart? here. Thorburn? here. Wellwood? gone. Wheeler? here

That's 9 guys still here from 2011... Go check out Chicago or Boston or LA and see how many guys are still on there teams from 6 years ago now? It's way less.

This team sucked then and it sucks now. Why is it a surprise?

It's gonna be a while. Like it or not...It's gonna be a while and unless some big changes happen, a while might turn in to a long long while cuz of those 9 guys that we have kept since 2011, only 2 or 3 and one is burmi and 2 are little and wheeler are under 30. The other is PAV... the tank commander.

With that being said... it could be worse. We could be Vancouver or Minnesota or teams like that who have ZERO prospects at all.

Few things ill point out that you are completely missing....

Comparing us to the teams you mentioned dont really work and here is why.... Chicago, LA and Boston ( dont know why you added Boston but ok ) Ill even add in Pitts. The reason these teams can add n subtract like they do is because they all have a solid base of players to work around. We dont have that yet. We are working to get that solid base of players. We havent yet even started signing the guys we want as our base. Your already blowing off guys like Trouba...  Hes what? 21? 22? Thats kinda early yet to be blowing him off. Everyones comparing him to Haminioc... How old is he? 25? 26? and just coming into his own now.

Now back to the teams.... How long did it take lets say the Hawks, LA and ill use Pitts as an example. From the time they completely sucked to being a solid contender year in and year out. All took between 6 - 8 years of building. Non of them just woke up and became good.

I might be wrong but i think Pitts took the shortest time and that was around 6 years.

Anyway thats jus my 2 cents.

Not in Junior. His eligibility is up. He's a Jet or Moose next year

You want to force him into the NHL for some reason.

It seems you want him to just produce or trade him for another prospect. Seems to me thats what your deal is. Trade them all

We should develop our players before we give up.

Seems stupid to just go about trading away guys for others we have no clue about.

  9. Develop players correct and they understand the first contract they sign aint their last. The long term will come.

If we trade away or give up on players before they are ready we will end up like ****.

We drafted these guys. Develop them correctly.

Trouba should get 5 years at 20-25 mil. Then hes 26-27 years old and can as for more.

  10. If we keep adding to many young guys to our roster at once we wont get better. As good as they are they need time.

Not only do they need time but so do guys on the big team now. Guys like Ehlers, Armia, Copp.. Id even add in Trouba, Myers... Still really young players and are still learning the NHL. We need to give these guys a bit of time to find their game and role at the NHL level before we start adding more rookies.

As much as id luv to see our young guys up here doing well id like to see them develop and learn from our more experienced players.

He's a RHD with top 4 potential. Ya I know another RHD but could flip him for an LHD or.... trade one or both of myers and trouba

You seem to keep talking all these trades just to make trades it seems. I highly doubt Chevy just starts doing that.

Think hes just gonna trade Myers or Trouba to just get another young guy with potential? That aint going to happen and it really makes no sense at all. Unless these guys are trouble on or off the ice hes not moving them.

I suspect Ladd n Pav get moved and maybe a prospect and or picks are involved but we wont become as they say sellers before the deadline. We dont need to be.

RHD, LHD... it dont really matter to much now a days... lots of guys can flip n play both without to much issue.

  12. 3 hours ago, Goalie said:

FWIW... If Ladd signs expect Perreault Stafford to be moved.

Also I'd expect Pav to be traded also.

Enstrom and 1 of trouba or Myers or even both might be on the block also.

Don't be surprised if stu Burmi Thorburn aren't around much longer either

    Why?

So if Ladd signs we trade everyone?  Really?

    Why would we do that?

  13. 28 minutes ago, Ducky said:

They won't re-sign Ladd and take the C off of him.

    Thats my point.

Ladd can move on and not wear a C or stay here and not wear a C. Either way Ladd will not wear a C next season.

Maurice and Wheeler have the same idea of how the team should go.

It will be how the team goes.

  14. RHD and LHD   dont really matter to much if you put out a stay at home guy with a puck mover.

Back when Scotty was coaching the red wings there was a year they had all LHD and one RHD...  I remember him being asked about it and that was his answer. It also happened to the wings again when Babcock was coaching and he pretty much said the same thing but you need to have the right combo of puck movers and stay at home guys.

  15. 3 minutes ago, Brandon said:

Apparently Ducky has selective memory...  when we had traded for him last year it was looked upon as a fantastic deal and both papers and on here everyone kept talking about what a  great contract we got with him...

    Ya i agree.

  16. 5 minutes ago, Ducky said:

Little had had very good seasons on the wing. Are you going to put Scheifele on the 3rd or on wing? Little would be the one to move over.

You don't like soft players but you like Myers? For someone that has played and watched hockey as much as you say you do/have, you must see what a soft player he is, especially for his size.

Ive said over and over... being a soft player doesent make you a bad player. Ive never said i dont like soft players.

I also never said anything about Myers being a hardnose hard hitting player. What i said was hes a big young kid that plays his position well he can skate and move the puck hes got size and uses it well and has a great contract. His contract actually allows us to put towards others as we need. Hes not hurt alot and can play big min. Hes not in anyway a liability to us at all. Hes pretty much what every team wants.

It would IMO be a horrible move to trade him for RNH.

  17. 13 minutes ago, 17to85 said:

But you clearly are letting incorrect opinions cloud your vision. Anyone who watches RNH knows he's not a soft player. Not a banger? Sure but few guys actually are. He'll muck it up though and go to hard areas. That's not soft no matter how you spin it. With your parroting of stupid crap like he's a soft floater you are slamming him. Of course he's not in the same teir as the guys I mentioned, I took extreme examples to prove a point. You know who is soft among the Oilers top forwards? Eberle and Purcell that's it. The rest of them will mix it up but they have better things to do than run around trying to be third line grinders. You surround them with some actual defencemen and some grit in the bottom 6 and no one complains at all about their softness. Let us not also discount their seasons being coached by Dallas Eakins, a man who said that a perfect game you throw no hits. That's the kind of coaching these guys have had to unlearn.

Played and watched enough hockey in my time to form my own opinions on players. Nobody clouds my vision.

Lots of players now and before id call soft players.... it doesnt mean they are not good. Its not slaming them its what they are.

Im not and havent been parroting stupid crap as you call it... You said i should watch him play and i simply showed you an artical where its said that he is a softer player.

I have no clue what point you were trying to make.

Anyway we will have to agree to disagree.

My opinion remains the same.... Trading Myers for RNH would be a bad move.

  18. 3 minutes ago, 17to85 said:

You don't like good players? You just eliminated a lot of guys. Patrick Kane doesn't play that way, Sidney Crosby doesn't play that way, Pavel Datsyuk doesn't play that way.... it's a bullshit excuse that people like to trot out when they don't know enough about the game to form real opinions. Just slam people without any evidence at all. "He's too soft! Not good enough for my team!!!" Fact is if RNH stepped onto the Jets tomorrow he'd be the teams best centre.

Holy....  Dont get so upset. Relax.

RNH is not in the same world as Kane, Crosby or Datsyuk.

I never slammed him once. I gave my opinion on him from watching him play the last few year and that opinion is hes a softer player and wouldnt fit on The Jets.

Ive heard many many times that hes a soft player and it seems you have to. I guess all these people are wrong.

Lots of high skilled guys on the Oilers no doubt but the problem seems like to many of them are the softer type players. Not enough bangers and toughness.
