  1. Taman is probably called Joseph already I'm afraid
  2. They brought back Keith Price a couple of weeks ago and have him on the PR. Edit: Just noticed the Riders have 12 men on their PR. I thought the limit was 10? Saskatchewan plays by their own rules I think they can use a couple free spots on junior players or something. You are correct. 2 of them are juniors. territorial exemption. Most teams choose to maximize their practice roster. You guys must really be running out of Rider jokes if you are down to complaining about our practice roster.
  3. Very good point. I read recently that the Bombers are projected to finish the season ~$100-200k over the cap. Obviously that'll change with some creativity by Walters, but we're there already. 6 gaming Picard maybe become a reality this year for you guys. I'd be all in to get Wild back if I was you guys. Even though he isn't MLB size, the guy just makes play after play. Need a guy like that in the middle so he is free to make plays on both side of the field.
  4. Kind of one of those diamond in the rough moments. Either Smith surprises everyone and comes up with a win or we get pounded. Thinking the latter If there's a defensive coordinator who is very good on exploiting a new QB with his D, that is Chris Jones. Jones just does the most obvious thing. When you play against a rookie you don't give him time to think. You attack him. Rookie qb's often see the game moving a lot faster than it is because of their lack of experience. You'd swear it was a mystery or something because we see time and again with different teams. There is no mystery to the Esks defence. They are going to be coming hard, the question is what are you going to do about it.
  5. Riders' Fans: I need a drink if I'm going to watch this.

  7. And there we have the "It's not Brendan's fault. He was forced to do it". If you sit in the big chair, then whatever happens falls on you. Just doing a quick check shows that while GM of the Bombers (2004-2008), there were head coaching changes in 2005 and 2008. Since becoming GM of the Riders (2010), there have been three (probably four) head coaching changes, with the first two coming in 2011 and then again in 2012 and likely one coming in 2015. Taman has made one coaching change here. In 2011 Marshall was Miller's hire as coach. Marshall fired as we go 1-7 out the blocks, Poppa Miller came downstairs as interim coach only for remainder of season. CC hired then to present and there is certainly somewhat of a possibility at this point Taman might be going the same day as Chamblin if things continue down the current trajectory. Taman's legacy here as well with the Bombers will be as a honest man and one who was too timid to take charge and run with it, more of a facilitator to others wants and needs. A nicer man you will never meet
  8. Its scary to work for a organization that is prone to knee jerk reactions. This in itself will be Chamblins undoing. Getting thrown under bus and fired isn't much fun. No one wants to be a meatshield. Honest question, wouldn't you agree its likely the biggest reason Benevides turned the riders down for the DC job?Benevides isn't coaching this year because his daughter is/was sick. He does have a sick child and the fact that there isn't a children's hospital here yet was cited as a reason for him coming here, yes that's true. So do you think Benevides will never coach again then, is that what you are saying? Because I don't think that is true, he will coach again, and wouldn't it be interesting if it was here next year.
  9. Yes it's all a conspiracy, started by those evil Winnipeg reporters. It's only going to "galvanize" them. Right. And when they go 0-5, 0-6, and then 0-7 they will be so galvanized they will be statues. hate to say it but if we go 0-6 I hope we do go 0-7 then cc won't survive the bye week. Hate to have him sneak into bye week on a one game winning streak only to have Taman say "I think Corey is really turning things around" That's a good point, though if Taman said that you could hardly blame him. What else is he supposed to say? He is supposed to say "we thank Corey for all his efforts with the organization and wish him well in the future, but feel it would be better for both parties at this time to go our separate ways. We are restructuring and don't see Corey in our future. And in a last stitch effort to save my own job I'm afraid I need to throw Corey under the bus." Taman's speech will be written on a napkin.

  11. Didn't Barron Simpson have a title also. Barrin wasn't here during that time....but he was The Minister Of Defence on account of his religious affiliations...... That's right now I remember. Fans here called him that when he came to play here at end of his career. The Riders have been assisting aging players in getting a couple more years pay for quite some time now.
  12. Didn't Barron Simpson have a title also.
  13. Wouldn't that hold true any year. Second and long cuts the play book at least in half or better. Totally shifting the advantage to the defence.
  14. changes are fine but wholesale changes annually are not a good thing. If O'shea goes 9-9 I think he stays. Even at 7-11 I think he stays. Its in the bombers organizations best interest for Miller and Oshea to stay and progress IMO

  16. Rod is on the Riders payroll. Might as well be. Didn't he get a ring along with the rest of the team when they won the Grey Cup back in 2013. I'm not kidding here, that's what I thought I heard. That is actually kind of funny, but seriously doubt that is true. Rod isn't the 13th man. I am and have been for my entire life and I didn't get a ring.
  17. Rod only reports what the Riders tell him to report.
  18. Can't really agree with that. The talent level in Saskatchewan is REALLY low right now. Riders have pretty much the number one offence in the league in most categories, can you explain how the talent level is low? There are 44 active members on game day. Offence is only 12 of them. Your defence is an abomination, and your STs and depth are not far behind. Hence...the talent level is low. I will agree that your starting talent on offence seems to be clicking right now, and I will even go so far as to say your defence has some talent as well but has way too many guys who are not CFL calibre being forced in due to ratio and poor recruitment. Too many scrubs to overcome. However, I earnestly believe that the D talent does not fit the scheme and that your secondary is poorly suited to the changes in the game. The Riders were a very physical secondary over the past few years and were built to be so, it just doesn't fit with the new rules. It's happening in other places too. Players that were once all star calibre secondary players but relied on physicality to do so are now being exposed. Unfortunately for the Riders...that's your entire secondary in a nutshell. Your LBs are some weak sauce, with or without Emry, and your ratio problems are forcing you to play scrubs on the DL that are creating zero push and not collapsing the pocket for Chick and Hall. Chamblin seems to be taking big time heat for this defence, and it does fall on him to find answers, but realistically Taman never put a defensive group of players on the field that is good enough. I will freely admit that your offence is playing lights out right now. It's the only reason the RIders haven't been getting completely blown out thus far. There are some deep systemic problems that are rearing there ugly heads right now, right from the GMs office on down, and the offence has been the lipstick on the pig. This gets worse before it gets better. I know...I watched this movie over and over again through the 2000's. Not to worry though, I am sure O'Day and Lapo will do their best to start a rebuild next year. There isn't anything in your post that isn't a fair statement and I generally agree. The just of my post mostly referred to Lapo being an offensive guy and our offense is pretty solid, although I imagine they will cool off a bit. At the end of the day Chamblin's biggest mistake is he refuses to adapt to the news rules and he is too stubborn to admit he can't run a effective defence, both will see him gone either during the season or at season's end. Lapolice for example only would simply hire a DC and let him run things, it seems simple but obviously it isn't because Chamblin won't do it. Just my personal opinion but I always like the head coach to be a offense guy and leave the defence/ special teams to the coordinators, things seem to work better that way and there is less meddling by the HC. The way Oshea defended Kuale last year indicates he was meddling a bit in him playing when clearly he was brutal and should have been gone. Jones clearly meddles in the EDM defence, which is fine as long as it works, which it does as they have been very good. I think it more indicated that O'Shea will not throw his players under the bus publicly... unlike a certain coach you are familiar with... but I get the frustration... it is a bit of an insult to fans to back a player that everyone can see is incompetent... I like O'Shea and supported the hiring of him. I read the posts on here, fans wanted Kuale gone, it appeared to me that O'Shea was his only lifeline. The HC could easily have made the decision to sit him at any time but it never happened. As far as the fans, we don't always know as much as we think we do, but we aren't friggin blind either. CC having a stand off here and there with Ridernation is adding fuel to the fire and sealing his fate here. Can't please the fans for sure but don't insult their intelligence either.
  19. Meddles? Jones is also the DC of the Esks. You know what I mean. Like I said at least it works and secondly Jones doesn't feel the need to hire a meat shield either like CC did with Quick.
  20. You are right, he'd be smart to stay there. We will end up hating him and run him out of town at some point, but oh well that's the nature of coaching. Happens in every city. Its not exclusive to Saskatchewan. Coaches want to coach, its what they do, its what they sign up for. How's this season play out for O'shea if you guys tank and miss the playoffs? Hosting the cup and all, fans will want him gone plain and simple.

  22. For the record, Not sure if I'm in favor of Lapo or not, but I'm willing to certainly consider him as a good option. Some of you may disagree but also think the Bombers firing Lapolice was a mistake that set u guys back a few years.

  24. If the Riders trade Glenn & they may as well forfeit the rest of the season. What Rider fan in his right mind would demand that Glenn be traded? Nobody in their right mind does. Makes zero sense. Not to mention if DD doesn't return, Glenn may lead us out the tunnel next year also. Some people are having a hard time dealing with being 0-4. Myself I keep it a lot more simple, I just want Taman and Chamblin both fired at the bye-week if things don't improve by then. 0-7 or 1-6 and they go bye bye.
