Its cuz you are a rider fan. I actually dont see the big deal either.. I just think its bullshit and embarassing and honestly im not sure many bomber fans are actually that upset over it... I mean... Whatever... Its classless and bush league and just embarassing but nobody has really said its illegal.. It probably should be but... Most posts i see tend to mention how classless embarassing bush league it is..

And it certainly is that. What goes around comes around tho.

It would seem Bomber fans have a very short memory. Do you remember a Bombers DC named Greg Marshall? 2000 - 2004. Greg was notorious for having a Defensive player take a knee for just about anything. I remember a game where the competing offence was finally putting together a drive at normal speed in the 3rd Qtr.  Greg had a lineman take a knee just to disrupt the timing of the offence. Do you not think O'Shea would use this if he needed too. Of course he would

Bomber fans are smart. Doug Brown started this to take all eyes off the real issues. Like 4 turnovers for one. Or a first Qtr that the Bombers were not prepared. With one small insignificant thing of the game Put into print using words like despicable. Doug Brown has taken away all eyes on the fact that O'Shea was out Coached in this game  in all facets of the game. The Green team beat O'Shea at his own game. That's what Bomber fans should be looking at and discussing. Not something that's been around for 30 years or more.

  2. Hi everyone in Winnipeg and Manitoba for that matter. I've been a CFL football fan for a long time. I enjoy discussing anything football. I will dig in and debate football topics and admit defeat when it happens. I always try to keep it clean and honest. However I will bite back when I see those getting off of topic or taking personal pot shots.

I come here to read and discuss football because a majority of Bomber fans are knowledgable and respectful. The CFL is most alive on the Prairie's.

I can't wait for the Labour Day rematch. It's going to be a great game. Both teams have a better idea now and the Bombers crowd will be loud. May the best team win!

Especially for the ones that have to stay.

After spending time Downtown Winnipeg.  I sure wouldn't be feeling sorry for anyone anywhere else .

Besides are we not suppose to be talking football? Or does that only take place when the Bombers win. Facing adversity in the middle of a season can help a team to get better and stronger.  Sure a lot better than having to face it at the end of a season. Like it or not the Green team looks to be for real . Fingers crossed they don't take another victory next week. Otherwise you will have to knock their water supply or something along that line

My prediction is the Random Death Thread 2017 will have the inclusion of the Riders season and their fans hopes included in there by monday morning

Looks like your prediction was about as right as the play of the Bombers in the first 15 minutes. After that Rider butt kickin of the Bombers. I won't be surprised if that same Rider team plays big in Winnipeg and rides away with another Victory. Dosent look like Hall or Lapo's game plans even came close.

And it never ceases to amaze me how fans from another team (Riders) will come over & make blanket statements here because they perceive their players are hard done by judging a small sample size & make blanket assumptions. If 3rd & 1 had bothered to research this site he'd have known I wasn't talking just about the injury to Harris  but the injury to Darian Durant last week. But I guess that's just too much to ask.

I am not advocating for any one team. I am discussing the play that brought up this topic. The hit on Darian was partially the olinemans fault as well. He drove the defender towards Darian.

Both young qbs are playing well. Riders like the Bombers are experimenting with different ways to lose this game. I'm sure they'll figure it out.

I guess SASK is turning the corner and finding ways to win. They have been in all of their games so far this year. Kinda sad that Chris Jones can put 12 new defenders on the field and 50% new offensive players as well as a back up QB this game and they look better than the Bombers with all the off season signings and Willy behind Center.

That was a reckless rolling tackle by Corvey Irvin, IMHO. Takes out an excellent QB. Very unfortunate. But yeah, next man up. Brock Jensen. Could be interesting.

There was nothing reckless about that tackle. It was a clean grab. With the QB trying to escape and the defender trying to tackle. That's why the play went the way it did. If that would have been a Bomber or even a Toronto defender tackling Harris. Nothing would have been said here.  Because it's a defender from SASK that is the only reason anything is being said. If there was anything wrong with that play as in illegal or dirty. TSN color would have discussed that in the time it took Harris to leave the field.

These low hits on the qb standing in the pocket unable to defend themselves should be automatic ejection, suspension & fines.

There was no low hit on Harris on this play. The defender had the QB around the waist. You can't hit a QB high and hitting a QB low is at his knees and below. That leaves the area between under the shoulders down to just above the knees. Exactly the area Harris was tackled. The injury came from the twist of the QB trying to get away and the tackle.

It never ceases to amaze me how fans that can't stand another team see stuff that never happened. The sad thing about all of this is that both SASK and OTT with their back up QB's look way better than the Bombers do with Willy and all the off season signings. Except Smith.

The schedule for the next 5 games is a tough one. Calgary and Edmonton twice and Hamilton. The Bombers needed to win this game. The fan base is on the edge of their seats. Even if the Offence plays better in Calgary.  Losing the next 5 games would be devastating but is a very likely scenario. I hope for the Bombers sake they can win a minimum of 2 games out of 5 but that is going to be tough given the competition.

Now that we have seen a couple weeks of play. I am even more concerned for the Bombers and fans alike. Im sorry people Willy is not an Elite QB and shouldnt be paid as one. Im sure Im going to be hated upon but I stick to what I wrote above and would like to add that Willy looks like a back up QB right now. Not a starter

This rumour is refusing to die.

Per sources, #Riders DE Shawn Lemon has officially requested a trade. Stampeders have interest. #CFL

Lemon is disgruntled at the amount of playing time he is getting. Figures he should be playing more than any of the other D-ends. Truthfully he was beat out at training camp for the #1 spot on his side. He still rotates in and plays as much as any of the other guys. Like Jones said... I coach a team, not personality's! Plus there is no way of knowing how much playing time Lemon will get on the team he's traded too. Calgary is interested in making a trade

Jump it Jones....if he doesn't ..lol ...when Durant goes down they'll have nothing that resembles a qb. in 16'...  I think it's the only deal that'll be acceptable to the banjo pickers and grinners...Steep ..yes, but the only way to go for a team boxed into a corner. Pull the trigger Jonesie...

    Just an FYI

No matter what Troy Westwood said years ago. The Banjo bowl is held in Winnipeg. Therefore the Country looks at Winnipeg as being the Banjo pickers.

Given the number of missed tackles by a buffet of assorted players it seems pointless to attempt and isolate blame on a singular player at this point in time

except Harris was a horrible tackler in SK. He tried so many times to tackle a receiver or ball carrier with his shoulder. He never wraps up. He was mediocre at best in SK.

    I'll start it...

Replace Hall with Chamblin asap, like by game four...  new playbook growing pains can't be worse than no passion.

At least we'll have a D that's competitive and someone to step in as HC once Osh retires.

Hall finally has a DL that should work with his style... but its not.

If you have other suggestions, feel free - but Chamblin runs a nice D, our front seven would thrive.

As somewhat of a fan of the Green and White. I can assure you that you do not want Chamblin as your DC. That's what killed SK last year. Chamblin's ego was so big he dumped Richie and he ran the defence himself. The Riders Defense was like swiss cheese. There were holes everywhere and they couldnt stop a thing. Plus the tackling was piss poor! Richie won a Grey Cup in 2007 and 2013 as the DC in SK. So he does know his stuff

Didn't someone here post about how Harris is no better than Willy?

    ooops lol! Nice call. hahahahahahahaha

    Actually they did state that.

I then countered with the 2015 Harris stats that shattered all of Willy's best stats. Harris is a great QB and is miles ahead of Willy. He proved it last night in Edmonton going up against the GC Champs. Plus I can garuntee you that he isn't getting anywhere near 400K in Ottawa. The brain trust in Ottawa is out thinking the Bombers front office. Ottawa has last year's MOP at QB and they still go out and get a better QB than Willy and the future of the club for probably less than 50% of what the Bombers are paying Willy. Sometimes you wonder how one team can be so smart while another team looks so lethargic in that department.

By who? The best QB who's been available in that time is Trevor Harris who isn't any better than Willy.

I'm not so sure about saying Willy is as good as Harris. Last year Harris had a very good year. Playing the whole season. His stats were impressive. He threw 33 TD passes  had an excellent completion rating. As well he played Toronto into the playoffs. Not to mention he stays healthy and plays smart.  Willy hasn't done anything like that in the 2 years in Winnipeg

    Harris 2015 stats

    played 18 games

    382 comp on 538 attempts

    4354 yards and 33 TDs

    538COMP 4354YRDS 33TD
  17. 5'6" slotbacks are ok as part of a receiving core. However SK learned that INTs are common place trying to get the ball to them too often. Now Willy's INTs numbers will go up while Durants INTs will go down. I hope the Bombers figure out that you can not completely count on dual 5'6" slotbacks. Get some size in there or struggle

I think it would be only appropriate and good for the country for the Condoms to finish dead last this season. Let them finish their last season in their toilet of a stadium in the basement where historically they belong

There is no historical facts of the Riders finishing last. If anything look up statistics 1st. The Riders may not have won as many GC as other teams. However they have been to the GC far more than a lot of other current CFL teams.

Sometimes hatred makes people say unsubstantiated things. Also your post is verging on disrespect by the ridiculous name calling of another team. I'm sure any Bomber fan would be up in arms if any other teams fan came on here and called the Bombers disrespectful names.

  19. I don't understand why knowledgable football fans put any stock into the preseason games. Come on guys, they mean nothing. Some teams like Montreal and SK are playing more CFL rookies than others. In the 1st Qtr of the 1st game the Bombers were playing their whole 1st team. Other than a hurt Dressler. Where as in SK Jones started his 1st team Oline but the majority behind Center was played by 1st year BJ Coleman. Plus Jones was rotating more 1st year guys than the Riders have ever seen. A Ridiculous comment earlier was that the Bombers back ups could blow away the Riders back ups. I don't think the Riders even know who their back ups are yet.

I've looked and read on each team across the league. Some teams are ahead of others at this point. Some teams have far more players in camp than others do. Simply out necessity... Montreal and SK have the most players I've ever seen in their camps. I'm not surprised in SK as Murphy loved to bring in as many players as possible when he was heading things up for Huff in Calgary. Now he's doing the same thing in SK.  I remember the Detroit Lions winning all 4 preseason games  then went on to having a zero win season. I also remember both Montreal and SK having lost both of their preseason games. Actually being blown out in 1 of them  then going on to win the Grey Cup. How about the 0-5 lions wining the Grey Cup or the 5 - 1 Bombers not making the playoffs. All I'm trying to say is don't be planning the parade from what you see in preseason. In fact most CFL teams that go on to do great things are the teams that get healthy and start to really gel the second half of the season. All the leagues QB's are back and healthy except Collaros, he should be back real soon. So, I think the league will see more parity in 2016 than it has in a long long time. As long as QB's Ray, Collaros, Durant, Willy, Reily and Lulay stay healthy.

I have no doubt Travis will be #1 in BC with Jennings backing him up. When Travis Lulay is healthy... look out. Same with Durant in SK. Darian has always been underestimated. Darian had SK at 8-2 when he went down at the Banjo Bowl in 2014. When Darian plays the Riders are usually very competitive. After trading Willy to Winnipeg. SK has never found a capable back up to replace him.

I just hope Willy and Durant are both healthy when they meet up. We need both these QBs playing all season.  It will be great football.  It should be fun watching the amount of ex Riders now playing On the Winnipeg Blue Riders (joking of course)

in order for the CFL to have a promising year, they need success on the Prairie teams.

I can't wait for the regular season to begin

    Good luck to all

  20. It would mean either 1 or 2 games back of BC. Turns out BC lost so still 1 game back.

Truthfully the future is still 100% in the Bombers hands. Just think if the Bombers can get

4th place. That road to the GC will not be nearly as hard as playing in Regina or Edmonton and then Calgary.

Instead Hamilton and the Toronto or vies versa. The East is the way to travel.

Head East young men. For in the end it's a much easier road that takes you all the way to the West Coast.

  21. I think the Bombers already learned their lesson on SK Home town Olineman Gary.

Brendan LaBatte was a fantastic O-lineman. Drafted by the Bombers and played extremely well.

A combination of things led Brendan to free Agency. One of which was HC LaPolice had suggested

To Brendan that he was going to be moved to Center the following year. One of which Brendan did not like.

In the end Mr LaBatte just wanted to go home to his family. As well as play for the team he watched as he grew up.

No one can blame him for that. Others were doing the same that off season. Andy Fantuz was another.

So now it comes down to Ben Henan. A #1 Draft pick by the Riders. To which they ignored the reporting rule for TSN

to be the 1st to announce the signing. Instead CEO Hopson travelled to Saskatton to announce to Ben Hennan himself

at the UofS Huskies annual get together Breakfest. Ben was able to stand in front of his University teammates, students

and family to accept the #1 pick and put on his new Rider Jersey.

So the likelyhood of of signing Ben Hennan away from his whole life of football in Saskatchewan is likely 10 Million to 1.

I would suggest the Bomber brass move on and try to find more likely candidates.

  22. I am an avid football fan. I love to watch every kind of televised football.

I'm not a dedicated Bomber fan but I cheer for them when they are not playing my team.

Or if they are playing an Eastern team. Or if they are playing any teams with any of these initials B C E

Actually I'm just playing around. As long as football is alive and well in markets like Hamilton, Winnipeg,

Regina, Calgary & Edmonton. Then the CFL will be alive and well.

Often my mood towards the Bombers success or failure is determined by the Bomber fans response to

Other teams Victorys or losses. I have to chuckle a bit at all the Bomber fans that were giving the BC & Rider

Fans a hard time around game 6. Calling SK fans basement dwellers and BC fans enevitible losers.

At that time I suggested Bomber fans be careful as the season was young and OShea and team had only beaten

Eastern teams. Well 9 weeks later and KAPOW ... It's a universal opposite. Let's all play nice.

There is still time to make the playoffs. So Go Bombers Go. Start with an EE victory.

  23. I can't wait for the back to back series to start.

The smart man picks a split in the series. If that happens then SK gets the series.

The Bombers have to win both if they want the series. Any which way the Bombers

Have far exceeded what I thought they were going to do this year. That has to make

Bomber fans happy and proud once again.

  24.

I'm not going to try and rank them in order, I'd rather try and provide tiers.

    Tier 1

Stamps, SJ Green, Carter, Arceneaux, Owens

    Tier 2

    Moore, Price, Fuller

    Tier 3

    Taylor, Bowman, McDaniel, Denmark

Then you get into the next tier

Getzlaf, Durie, Grant, Ellingson, Smith, Fantuz, West

If Dressler, Inman and Matthews came back, I'd probably put them in tier 1, 2 and 3 respectively.

You can make an argument for Taj as a top 15 receiver, but I wouldn't say it's a compelling one.

Interesting opinion. I'd say that you're highly overrating Manny, Fuller & Taylor. Even Carter hasn't performed like a tier one receiver this year and IMO that's not just because they don't have a QB.

I wouldn't say I'm overrating Manny at all. He probably attacks the ball as a receiver better than anybody in the league and he's still managing to stay among the league leaders in yardage despite the fact that he's being matched up against by the DB1 in most games.

Fuller and Taylor are just complete receivers and while their track records aren't there, the talent level is. They fight for balls, they battle through contact and are an absolute handful to tackle in the open field. Good hands, good blocking skills.

Duron Carter is an absolute animal and in my opinion, he's the most talented receiver in the league. This will probably be his last year in the CFL. Reminds me a lot of Arceneaux before Arceneaux went to the NFL. If he had Ricky Ray throwing him the ball, he'd likely average over 100 yards a game. Too bad he has the Montreal circus instead.

Carter has played what 9 games and you think he is a top tier receiver.

Give me a break. Plus Stamps has had ever funky injury a receiver could ever have. He misses far more than he plays.

If your system is to be true. How the hell did the Riders win the Grey Cup with 4th tier receivers. Pure Bomber fan propaganda
