Winnipeg Ice

Would NOT be owned by the Jets. Would play at UofM until new 5000 seat arena was built.

Checked out game two tonight.  Seattle with the 4-2 win but it was a good game and another decent crowd.  Brad Lambert looked pretty good and had a couple goals.

Winnipeg's new Western Hockey League team has announced it will play its only home pre-season game on Saturday, Sept. 7 against the Brandon Wheat Kings at Stride Place in Portage la Prairie.

Game time is 7 p.m. It will be unassigned seating, but tickets are priced at $15 for adults and $8 for children 12-and-under.

The Ice will also play four pre-season road games, including Friday, Sept. 6 in Brandon at 7:30 p.m. before closing out the exhibition campaign with games on Friday, Sept. 13 and Saturday, Sept. 14 in Saskatoon against the Blades.

Both games start at 8 p.m. Central time.

^^ This is massive news....the Savoie brothers and their buddy (who all were chosen/traded for by the Ice) have all played hockey together forever and were all committed to Denver together, but apparently at least one has changed their mind. I would THINK this means all 3 are going to sign now, but we'll see...

And then they lost their home opener.  HA!  Take that Winnipeg Frozen Water!  See you again soon.  And often apparently since Brandon and WPG play each other 12 times this season including exhibition.  Jeez gonna get pretty boring whupping your butts all these times this season.  Just kidding it's gonna be great every time it happens! GO WHEATIES!

(Not sure if there are any actual ICE fans on here just yet but no harm in getting the rivalry up and going.  Cheers!)

Went to my 1st Ice game last night.  Not a great first impression, getting pumped 7-0 by the Oil Kings, but overall we enjoyed it.  We'll definitely be checking out a couple more games this season.

Ballsy move to go all in during your first season... But they're in 1st so maybe they think they can really do it.

Might be only playoff hockey around here :)

The Western Hockey League's Winnipeg Ice have lost the services of right-winger Connor McClennon for eight to 10 weeks after the 17-year-old suffered a broken collarbone during a game Tuesday night.

McClennon, ranked 43rd among North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting for the 2020 NHL Draft, leads the Ice in goals (21) and points (49).

The WHL announced Monday that the policy, effective immediately, requires all roster players, hockey operations staff and other personnel to be fully vaccinated at least 14 days before the start of the 2021-2022 season.

The Brandon Wheat Kings have announced that iHeartRadio Canada’s BOUNCE 96.1 will be the broadcast partner of the prairie WHL team.

Ranked #2 in all of Canada right now, as of this morning.......

Hard to believe that in the history of the WHL 10 in a row is the record.
