SAKATCHEWAN @ CALGARY

Presenting the chance to salvage the weekend, we are provided with the opportunity to smile again with the Riders in Calgary game. The Riders, of course, had the bye last week so they are still wallowing in their glorious win.

GAME PREVIEW

By The Numbers

3 – Straight games Glenn has made 30 or more completions. No quarterback in CFL history has gone four consecutive games with 30 or more completions.

5 – Number of field goals made by Paredes last week. It was the seventh time in his career that he was a perfect five-for-five.

7 – Passing touchdowns for both Glenn and Mitchell heading into Week 5, tied for second in the league

14 – Consecutive games Mitchell has thrown for a major. His next touchdown pass will be the 100th of his career.

116 – Yards needed by Glenn to become the seventh player in CFL history to reach the 50,000 yard mark.

THE SKINNY

This is the first of three meetings between the Stampeders and the Riders in 2017. Calgary has swept the series against the Riders for the past three seasons, winning last year’s contests 35-15 and 19-10.

Calgary also has a history of dominating Saskatchewan at McMahon with a recent 9-0-1 record. The last time the Roughriders won at McMahon Stadium was eight years ago back on Aug. 1, 2009.

The Riders have not have had a lot of success coming off the bye week as of late, losing their past two games after a long rest.

While history favours the Stamps, Calgary will have to find a way to stop the Riders’ surging offence if it hopes to come out with a win. Saskatchewan leads the league in points per game (31) and yards per game (424) heading into Week 5.

?‍? Are the Riders that good in the offensive dept?

?‍? Is Kevin Glenn going to keep lighting it up on Offence?

?‍? The optimism is riding high on the Rider forum, many, many picking a Rider win.

?‍? As I said, the weekend can be salvaged with a Rider loss. It can almost be forgotten with a Calgary over Sask. thrashing.

After a tough Bombers loss, nothing cheers me up quite like seeing the Riders get spanked.

  • put in flanders, put harris in at receiver/running back instead of Julian.

Stamps were in 2nd gear for a goodly portion of that one.

I believe you mean a good third quarter, cause the 4th quarter was the Stamps kicking your asses again too. Don't try and make it sound any better than it really was. Riders were fortunate that the score wasn't more lopsided to be perfectly honest.

True.  Fortunate doesn't mean much though, a loss is a loss. A small glimmer of hope was Glenn coming out in third quarter and playing well. I expected him to do what he usually does in those situations, turtle and turn the ball over. Jones punting with 6 minutes left was yet another coaching blunder, we were running out of time and couldn't afford that. That game summed up where we are at, not where we need to be. Could be a long rest of the season. Guess we will see where we go from here. Outside of Edm, Calgary and BC, no one has looked consistently good so things may still work out.

I beg to differ about Calgary looking like a juggernaut- they've played well enough to win most games but (IMO) they have been sloppy and beatable by a good team. Lets see how they do against BC and Edmonton.

They have not been as good as they have been in the past that's for sure. I honestly don't think Dickensen is as good a coach as Huff.  But when they get Messam going, they are a handful. And still dangerous. BC has had struggles with their OLine being horrible at times but they find a way to win. Edmonton also has been sloppy, a better team than the Cats would have beat them last week. Esks are missing Walker and with Bowman out too they looked very beatable last week. BUT, with game on the line Reilly got it done''''''  I still see them as the 3 best teams right now

Don't understand what Jones still sees in Bagg. He's a backup receiver at best now.

He's Canadian... and they are desperately thin at NI...
