  1. Another derailed thread, though why am I surprised. I think in Austin's case, you can't really blame him for the reaction there. Team has seen frustratingly close losses with wins escaping them, could just as easily be 4-1 as easily as 1-4. I know in this league, when a team goes from being contender to down in the shitter in one year, the head coach will often bear the brunt of that, and if he did get let go of after this year is up, wouldn't be too surprised. But I think throwing him out now would be a mistake. If the Ticats completely go to waste, then you possibly look at a new direction at HC, but considering the turnover at HC that franchise has suffered, you probably don't want to be firing too many cats off the bat on that team.
  2. NO to this, if you're an als fan. Because what they have is working so well. No they need a new QB for sure, but Crompton most certainly will never be a CFL starter, you can take that to the bank.
  3. Feeling good about this one coming Thursday. I think this time we're gonna cause a big old ruckus in Darrian Durant's head. He's never faced the Bombers on any day other than Sunday in his career, and this isn't Labor Day or the Banjo Bowl. I think we're gonna limit what Will Ford does in this game, we'll be ready for him. Make em one dimensional and I think you got one defeated Durant to boot. On offense, we're finally going at them with a real QB and one that knows their D inside and out. We keep Foley and Chick out of the backfield, I think they're beat dead to rights. Especially since Tristan Jackson is out for the season now.
  4. On top of that he failed to develop so hence why he is not playing anywhere in the CFL. That being said, I think Higgins is gonna take major heat for the mishandling of the QB situation last night. None of the options they currently have, especially under the current circumstances, will probably be around in the league much longer, but I think they gotta stick with Smith as he gives them the best chance to win of any QB they have. Certainly more so than Marsh or Brink. The interesting question is which current backup QB is going to get signed by them over the offseason. Right now, other than Drew Tate and maybe Nichols if he's available, I think the current list is slim as far as true potentials go, though at this point free agency backups are probably the best chance they have. I mean who knows, possibly another NFL cut QB comes up to try his hand in this league and they land a golden nugget in the basket, but because of the major differences between 3 and 4 down football and the way the game works, I tend to think you just don't get CFL rookie QBs who become RG3s, Andy Daltons, or Cam Newtons up here. The way I seen it work, most QBs have to spend a couple years at least learning the game before they can start. So... in that regard Montreal will likely be set back a few years regarding finding a future QB. I mean, I know turnarounds can happen quick in this league and we did find Drew Willy, but he certainly was not raw and was a fairly high prospect. I don't think the available stock to Montreal is gonna be quite that high this next year.
  5. Pretty sure that was Vince Young who said this, he certainly has no plan of moving up to Canada everyone in Texas says. Tebow I don't know, but I'd love to see him get a shot at redemption. He really did quite well in Denver, winning that playoff game amidst all that hot criticism he was getting. He was snubbed in New York, and I still hate Rex Ryan to this day for not letting him play, that jerk was determined Tebow was gonna sit. Was very surprised he ended up in New England last year too, it's not really like the Patriots needed him anyway and nobody's gonna get a shot at QB there until Tom Brady retires. Big guy and he certainly wouldn't go down easy up here. I'd think he'd be kinda like another Mike Reilly only bigger and stronger. Certainly think he should get a shot up here, that is if he wants to play.
  6. Well, like we said, Mitchell's luck was gonna run out. I mean this loss wasn't on him, don't get me wrong, but he had the help of special teams and defense in his last two games despite his off target-ness. This week even though he was fairly on target, he gets let down by those elements of the team. But this does make our win last week in BC Place loom even larger now. Ya figure the league is gonna balance out eventually, but it's still crazy to think we got one division here where nearly every team is in the power struggle for tops in the league, while the other is just anyone trying to stay out of the basement. Crazy.
  7. Agreed, hence that other thread going on here showing that people are giving Dinwiddie way too much of a pass for this nonsense. It's been proven by Gary Crowton that If your OC is unprepared, unqualified, or clueless, your whole offense will go down the tube. Management's been bad too. You NEVER EVER play musical QBs with a team when that team is in the lead. I understand if the game is getting out of hand and a QB is really playing badly you pull him, but there was no reason at all to put Brink in there. That dude should be banned from the CFL just for his reek show, I am so ****ing glad he is not a bomber anymore. Troy Smith's days are likely numbered too, but Brink should not be out there period. I'm wondering if it is true that Jim Popp is upset that Higgins is the HC and he's trying to give him junky players to get him fired.
  8. Someone had better tell Wetenhall and Popp that Joey Elliot is an upgrade over Brink and he's available lol. Would be quite something, Barresi and Elliot getting reunited in Montreal.
  9. Remind you of someone else ... someone a little closer to home? Well Tim Burke's career as a DC is gonna remain intact I think.
  10. If offered a HC job, which if one of these East teams like Montreal and Ottawa never get out of the hole, he probably will. Somehow, I don't know that he'd settle for an OC job with Higgins. Don't know what their history is together, but guessing he would want all the marbles as a HC.
  11. I will agree Brink should not be in there, he's never been any better than 3rd string level, but Dinwiddie has certainly been running a faulty unanchored system and is unqualified to call plays. It most certainly does have an effect on the offense. But anyway, just glad this is someone else's team and not the bombers.
  12. Certainly doesn't look any worse than the current Al Offensive playbook.
  13. Yeah I would take him too, but seems Wetenhall doesn't want him in town. The QB situation for them is bad, but I been saying it a while now that Dinwiddie has no business etching up and calling plays. Since they don't want Berry and there's not a whole lot of other household names out there, why not give Jamie a call? I mean maybe he couldn't do a lot, but he certainly has more experience as a qualified OC than Dinwiddie does.
  14. Looks like Ryan Dinwiddie has called his last game as OC if I'm Tom Higgins. Barresi should get another shot at being an OC, Lapolice shafted him for stuff that wasn't his fault in an attempt to bury the real problems on O. If you're gonna pick someone who knows what he's doing as an OC, Barresi is a name out there. Think Montreal should do something about it.
  15. Someone should tell Dinwiddie his r2p offense doesn't work.
  16. I wonder how well Anthony Calvillo would do as a play caller for the Als O?
  17. Say what you will about Smith and his inaccuracy, think he still gives them the best chance to win. I seen enough of Brink over the years and his noodle arm and he makes Dan LeFevour look like Dan Marino, Montreal is done if they go with him. Marsh, well he's a little better but his decision making isn't too crisp. Think a better question is who will be the Als Offensive Coordinator next year?
  18. I know Smith was on a short leash but I think that was bad to pull him this soon when you have the lead. Brink is way worse and I'm so glad that clown isn't a bomber anymore.
  19. Ehhh, you just never know in the CFL. On paper Montreal vs TO looks like a slopper, but I wouldn't be surprised if it actually turned into a crazy shootout sort of.
  20. Some big games to watch tonight. Everyone wants to know who's gonna break out of the East's slump, winner of this first game could do it. Pivotal game for at least one team tonight. For Montreal, this could be Troy Smith's "Do Or Die" game. He's had some rough ones on the road so far in McMahan and BC Place, but has done fairly well at home so far. A win tonight and the Als will continue to ride the TS Train, but should signs of struggle become eminent, the word is the Als will turn to Marsh or Brink this game. For Toronto, the injuries have decimated their playmaking receiving corps, and someone is gonna need to step up for Ricky Ray if the Argos hope to get back on track. And someone on Burke's defense also is gonna need to step up and become a leader there. Critical game here for both squads, though I think in Montreal's case, given their current personnel situation, I think it's much more critical for them. The Argos injuries to Durie, Owens, and Barnes have obviously hurt them a lot, but once they get healthy they got the ability to make a comeback into the playoff picture. The Als on the other hand, they start getting behind in East vs East games and I think they're done. Calgary vs BC will be interesting. Calgary has continued to find ways to win despite some of Mitchell's struggles, yet you just feel their luck won't hold up forever. BC has their problems but they've also shown they can surprise you when you least expect it. Gonna be a good game here tonight.
  21. One bit of sort of bad news, the place I recorded this replay off of didn't have the Lapo Playbook segment in it, so ... sorry about that.
  22. Yes plus it allows us to play our true rival green men team 3x, as the case should be. Means we actually get to mess the clock up in the Riders heads by bringing them out on the field on another day besides Sunday.
